  1. Coach Brown just tweeted "Feels good heading in to the summer recruiting period knowing we already have a commitment from a BIG. Toughest position to get at our level." I hadn't seen anything mentioned on this board that we got a '13 commitment in addition to Lassen yet. Did I miss something or is this new?
  2. So I guess it's the time of year where this comment is posted again huh? Haha The website isn't great..but the store itself at SEFCU is decent enough..if small. I would presume that the two stores aren't integrated because the bookstore is owned/operated by Barnes & Noble and the athletics store is..well..not. I have some stuff from the bookstore..but the majority of my stuff is from the athletics store. While the selection is understandably lighter than at the bookstore..the prices are MUCH lower and I like knowing (assuming?) the money is going straight to athletics instead of mostly to B&N.
  3. Looks like national team play isn't over quite yet for Suero. The team's in Vegas to take on the 2012 Dream Team in an exhibition game this Thursday at 9pm on ESPN.
  4. Agreed that Horford didn't play that well. He was the main one missing too many gimmies near the basket. 'Heavily' favored is of course a bit subjective..but I saw DR favored anywhere from 1-6 points going in. Not exactly something I would deem 'heavy.'
  5. I watched the game last night. With the caveat that I'm not a basketball analyst and this was the first live game I saw of the two teams..Nigeria's no slouch. DR looked a bit uninspired and missed way too many open looks..especially close to the basket. But Nigeria played extremely well inside..managed to win the rebounding battle..and were blocking shots all over the floor. Nigeria also only lost to Russia by 8 in their game prior to DR..so they can obviously play a bit.
  6. Says someone who responded to himself on an interent message board..haha.
  7. Interesting. I had heard just last month that it was UAlbany who was waiting on the Governor's office..and not the other way around.
  8. One of those schools' baseball field was paid for by an MLBer alum with $50m+ in career earnings and will likely end his career in the top 20 of the all-time saves list..while the other school doesn't have a football team to invest in facilities for.
  9. Saw that Suero's listed on the roster for the DR National Team. The team's being coached by Kentucky's John Calipari and is at the Wildcats' campus this month in prep for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in early July in Venezuela. Suero's on the team with NBAers Charlie Villanueva, Francisco Garcia and Al Harford. http://www.latinbasket.com/Dominican-Republic/basketball.asp?NewsID=272541
  10. Baseball team's doing a good job so far of keeping alive the chance of Boston's streak continuing. Gave up 7 runs to Maine in the first inning..including a grand slam. Danes down 7-3 headed into the 2nd.
  11. Aside from being a bit JUCO heavy..I like the variety of the personnel that the staff brought in. With Evans..I'll never object to another solid ball-handler..especially if he can prove to score a little bit. Johnson has great size for the wing..and looks to be in the style of Siggers/Suero. Not suggesting he'll be as good..just that he's has the long slasher/scorer wing look..though his outside shot actually looks similar to Siggers'. Not sure what all Wiegmann will bring..but I'm happy with some more depth in the front court..that was priority #1 in my eyes. His youtube video reminded me a bit of Fran Urli. Bruxvoort's definitely the most promising. He looked like he had springs in his shoes in his video from the press release..kinda like Aronhalt with an additional 2-3 inches. Assuming he's red-shirting like we understand (the release confirmed he's a 'preferred walk-on')..some additional bulk should do wonders for him going into 13-14. Hopefully Brown & Co. can put together enough offense with this team to make something happen. I'm still curious about the scholarship situation though. My guess has to be that Iati will pay his own way (in-state tuition). And any word on who the new Grad Assistant will be?
  12. http://www.ualbanysports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=205429533&DB_OEM_ID=15800
  13. And they said we had 20 wins this past season. Just 1 off. Though at least they got the name America East correct..better than most.
  14. So..with Clickclack's info..by my count: Returning (11) Black - SR Guerrier - SR Iati - SR Metcalf - SR Watts - JR Puk - JR Devlin - JR Gibson - SO Rowley - SO Hooley - FR Page - FR Incoming (4) DJ Evans - JR Second Recruit - ? David Wiegmann - JR Scott Bruxvoort - FR Even with Bruxvoort red-shirting/non-scholly this coming season..that's 14 players when we have 13 scholarships to give out. So is the 'second recruit' really Wiegmann..is one of the incomers a walk-on..will Iati be without a scholarship since he 'left' and then 'returned'..is someone leaving that hasn't been announced (would seem unlikely being this late)..or is there something else we're missing?
  15. Are you referencing Bona? If so..tough to leverage after a 13 win season. Brown was coming off back-to-back 20 win/NCAA bid seasons and was being courted by an A-10 school. Seems like a bit of a different situation to me. Who knows though.
  16. Reports are that Binghamton is interviewing Rider's Tommy Dempsey today..with a possible offer to accompany the meeting. Would be a surprising jump for Dempsey..in my opinion. Would also leave Rider in a tight spot with a head coaching vacancy this late into the off-season.
  17. Is it just me..or has there been very little press/public talk about this search? I believe the Binghamton spot is one of the last DI head coaching spots still available (I think Brown and Morehead State are still officially open)..but I've heard/read/seen very little speculation, rumors, etc.
  18. Add WLAX to that list as well. Will play the Seawolves in the championship game.
  19. I've only seen him listed as 2013..so I thought it made sense to include him in this thread.
  20. RecruitScoop lists us as interested in SF Chris Braley from Phillips Exeter Academy (ME). Bucknell, Colgate, Penn, Dartmouth, Holy Cross, Maine, UNH, Vermont, BU, Brown, Columbia, Yale and Fairfield are all also listed as interested. I've seen mentions that he's actually been offered by Vermont and Holy Cross.
  21. I've heard there's basically no chance of a 2012 football game being played in the new stadium.
  22. For what it's worth..Evans' position is listed as 'G' on the NJCAA All-American list. Not 'PG' as some others on the list are.
  23. Do we know who it is that's currently visiting? That might be a good guess..given the timing.
