I'm sure they'll go as long as they can into the winter. The digging will need to get done before the ground freezes, but I don't think that should be an issue if they start soon. And if we have a winter like last year, I'm sure they'll work the whole winter. They are still saying a finish date by May. McElroy confirmed that on Wednesday.

http://www.troyrecord.com/articles/2012/08/09/sports/doc502336f87c964248720991.txt From the same story:"That increase of scholarships will allow the program to schedule games against Football Bowl Subdivision teams as early as 2015." I'm hoping that despite not being a counter until 2015, we can get an FBS game in 2014.

I'd like to see us to alternative between a BCS school and a winnable FBS game every other year. 2013 - Army; 2014 - UConn; 2015 - UMass; 2016 - Rutgers As far as the stadium goes, I am hopeful we'll be pushing 15,000 seats within 5 years. But only if we're filling it up constantly. I'd rather have a smaller full stadium (a la Richmond) than a a large half-empty stadium. Smaller capacity could give rise to our tickets being the hot ticket. That creates excitement.

There is some interesting thoughts that could effect what the CAA would look like. Rumor mill is stirring that Delaware, James Madison, Liberty, Jacksonville State, Georgia Southern, and Appalachian State may join the dying WAC to form an East Coast FBS conference and piggyback off the WAC's FBS status. The WAC has to find 6 schools before May 2013 or it's dead. That will obviously diminish the Southern tier of the CAA, but it will still be a great FCS league. In my opinion, JMU and UD are going to move up within the next 5 years anyway.

Lots of press today post-CAA Media Day. Nothing really new though. http://www2.timesdispatch.com/sports/sport/2012/jul/26/tdsport01-caa-football-schools-waiting-for-stabili-ar-2084727/ http://www2.timesdispatch.com/sports/college-sports/2012/jul/25/tdsport01-caa-stays-silent-on-expansion-details-as-ar-2081393/ http://www.dailypress.com/sports/colleges/dp-spt-caa-football-media-day-20120725,0,3097506.story http://www.foxnews.com/sports/2012/07/25/in-fcs-huddle-caa-hopes-it-drawing-toward-stability/ http://www.unionleader.com/article/20120725/SPORTS/707269957 http://www.delawareonline.com/article/20120726/SPORTS07/307260056/Hens-not-considering-switching-conferences?odyssey=mod%7Cnewswell%7Ctext%7CSports%7Cs

Well, we don't have a president Probably the provost. Didn't seem to take much when golf moved to the MAAC. Football, needing larger subsidies from university funds, probably has to show that the budget and Title IX issues can be worked out, but otherwise it's mainly an internal athletic department problem. Changing conferences in one sport isn't on the same magnitude as, say, moving from D-III to D-I. Philip still has decision-making authority until a new President is hired, doesn't he? I thought he agreed to stay on until then.

No clue on the timing, but there are some major events coming up: July 24, 2012 - College of Charleston Board of Trustees Meeting (Special Meeting on Conference Affiliation) - http://news.cofc.edu/2012/07/20/bot-committee-meetings/ July 25, 2012 - CAA Football Media - 10am-12pm - Live feed here: http://www.caasports.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=8500&KEY=&SPID=4660&SPSID=48484 I would guess an announcement may come shortly after the completion of both of those events.
