I understand they've been there every week for Jon Morgan and some have expressed interest in Drew. He's got NFL size but doesn't necessarily have the speed. There have certainly been NFL RBs that are slower than he is, but they played at big time schools and didn't need gaudy numbers to get a chance.

This has flown under the radar around here but Drew Smith currently leads the nation in scoring with 12.86 point per game. Through 7 games his numbers are awesome: 680 rushing yards and 14 TDs for 97 yrds per game and 5.44 yards per carry. 168 receiving yards for 1 TD He has a TD in every game this year and has a streak of back-to-back-to-back 3 TD games against Monmouth, Bryant and St. Francis. If he stays on this pace, he'll end up with 1000+ yards rushing and 23 TDs in the regular season. An absolutely great year so far for a kid that arguably is the most complete player and perhaps one of the nicest people to ever come through this program.

Great bye week (getting healthy and moving up in the polls) now its time to come out and put a whooping on Sacred Heart. Sacred Hear is not very good. Sep 1 - L at Morgan State, 27-30 Sep 15 - L at Colgate, 14-35 Sep 22 - L at Monmouth, 14-27 Sep 29 - W vs. Cent Conn St, 34-21 Oct 6 - L vs. Wagner, 3-12 Oct 13 - W at Dartmouth, 27-10 Oct 20 - L at Duquesne, 3-35 6th in the NEC in passing offense 2nd in pass defense 8th in rush offense 3rd in rush defense 4th in scoring defense Dead last in scoring and total offense They're relatively tight on defense (they do lead the league with 2.88 sacks per game but they are horrendous offensively. A top 25 team should beat Sacred Heart by 3 scores.

The CAA basketball schools derive a lot more basketball revenue than anyone in the AEast. On-court success notwithstanding. Anyone have the numbers? I'd even venture to say that Delaware got close to or more of a payout in those years by not making the tourney as Vermont did by making the tourney. Again guys - $$$$$ rules the world. Revenue sports lead the way and always will. On-court/field success is second fiddle to TV money and revenue shares. Even at this level.

I don't know why anyone would be hellbent on moving to the CAA right now. As others have said........if JMU and GMU are gone, who exactly does that leave again??? Is Drexel, Hofstra and Northeastern really a better peer group than Stony Brook, UNH and Maine? Do you really want to increase your travel costs to send teams to Charleston, Wilmington, and Williamsburg? Now that Albany (and Stony Brook) has that CAA football membership their pocket........not sure why anyone would want to join the CAA for other sports. Basketball rules for most Division I schools. The CAA is still light years ahead of the AEast in everything basketball related. If your other non-football sports suffer to some extent, so be it. Basketball is the only reason for anyone to go to the CAA.

No offense to Vives or any of our track and field supporters on this board, but I think a representative from a revenue sport should have been named. Football and Basketball are the future of the athletic department at UA.

They probably won't be able to use the stadium until there is a Certificate of Occupancy issued which I don't think they'll be able to get if its still an active construction site. Who knows though, maybe they can get a temporary CO or something of the like if there is only interior work being done.

TSN does not vet their submissions. For example, in the AGS poll, if you voted for Harvard as #1 you'd have to explain your reasoning to the Poll Committee. Another example, Georgia State clearly got an incorrect #3 vote in the TSN poll (that how's they get 23 points). Its clear that vote should have gone to Georgia Southern but someone clicked the wrong name. In the AGS poll that would have been caught and corrected. TSN does nothing of the sort. They get homer polls from writers who know nothing about the national scene and just blindly pop them into the spreadsheet to get the results. We get hurt because voters for the NEC actually do research and rank us where we should be. If Santillo had no credibility he would just slot us in at #2 and we'd get another 24 points. No one would ever question it and we'd probably end up ranked. Instead he has credibility and ranks us where we should be. Nice breakdown on the details. It never appeared like the submissions were vetted. At this point, whatever. Let's win out, win a playoff game, and then on to the CAA. Won't be ignored there. Exactly. They can't ignore us forever! -

I agree patch. I think we are a Top 25 team and should stay there in the Coaches and hopefully come into the TSN poll this week. I'd hesitate to push us into the Top 15 though especially based on the last two weeks. What a great conversation to be able to have! -

We're not exactly blowing the doors off the NEC right now either. Sure we've won comfortably, but the way we played the last two games doesn't exactly scream Top 15 team. Win out and win a game in the playoffs.
