1. OK disregard my email about the avatar thing then Dane Pound. Thanks.
2. There are temporary bleachers on the sides of the field, but only about 5 feet high and may not be the best view.
3. Not that I know of. I think Coach Ford is trying to avoid getting people's hopes up with regard to timing. If I were him I'd be disgruntled about the stadium situation. I can see it happening like the lockerroom upgrades - state beurocracy holding the construction up. The lockerroom still has not been finished. I spoke to some folks about the stadium when I visited spring practice a few weeks ago. Everything was still on track for ground breaking sometime in 2007, however, some of the plans may have to change with regards to location. There is apparently some water problems with the proposed site (the RACC parking lot) and now a $1million environmental study needs to be done to keep it there. Why don't the just build on top of University Field? Maybe they need to turn the field North and South to avoid the wind, but that wouldn't be that difficult would it?
4. UA Players instead of Guardian Angels? http://www.timesunion.com/AspStories/story...wsdate=4/5/2006
5. Anyone know anything about player allocation and NFL Europe? Why didn't Kurt Campbell go to NFL Europe this year? Maybe he's still rehabbing? He's on the Packer's Active Roster again. Other former UA player updates: Last I heard Geir Gudmenson was on the NY Dragons (Arena 1) practice squad and trying to get a release to play in A2 somewhere. Kenny Williams in on the Albany Conquest (Arena 2) roster.
6. I feel the same way. And not addressing the actual comments from the letters, I was actually surprised (you would think that I might have learned not to be by now) that the TU printed them...let alone two of them. I don't have a problem at all with rebutal letters to the editor, but these were more of a complaining/whinning type as opposed to relaltively well thought out letters that newspapers tend to print. Sort of surprised me. 13748 I am yet to be surprised by the "BS" the TU continues to publish. 13749 danefan, Those letters were a rebuttal to a UA fan’s letter. They did print a UA fans latter. If they had only printed a Siena letter and not a single UA letter then your point would be well taken. Is this the hottest this rivalry has ever been or was there a time where it was hotter? 13751 True. But I do not believe the pro-Albany letters were directed at the Siena program. While there was mention of the Siena-Stanford game in one letter it was not an attack on the program. I just get tired of the TU Siena slant, which I will admit has been getting better recently. I do not however expect it to stick. I will not be satisfied with the TU until the UA athletics program as a whole gets the respect it deserves, that includes the lacrosse, track & field, volleyball, football and other all other sports.

8. I think we need a 10-1 season and a win over either Delaware or Lehigh to get serious consideration for the playoffs. That assumes that Delaware and Lehigh both have good seasons. I went to practice last saturday and they went live for about 1/2 hour. I don't think there is going to be a spring game other than that. Defense looked great at practice. Very very fast and with Coleman on the end, very big. Offense was so-so, as expected for spring. All no-huddle and about 85% passing with Bocangera at receiver and Hall at QB. I would look for some of those frosh to play this year.
9. Who cares that they don't know how many seaons we've been D1 13595 You know the AP has been saying "9 years" since the tournament started. Even some of the ESPN guys were saying that.
10. Great point. Few actually just turned down the request to meet with the Indiana search committee which would undoubtedly pay a ton more money than he makes at Zaga.
11. they haven't released the final schedule yet have they? Do we know what it is yet?
12. just got word from a friend that the practice schedule is as follows: MWF afternoons 3 to 5 Sat and Sun Am 9-11. Scrimmage this Sat. Oklahoma at the end of Fridays practice. MWF - 3pm to 5pm Sat & Sun - 9am to 11am There is some word about a scrimmage this saturday at 9am. Not sure if that is true or not though. Someone should call the athletic department and ask.
13. this is great. i'm going to get in touch with Fordie re: spring schedule. I'd like to see a practice or two when they go live. the UA website was updated again but no schedule yet. interesting to note that they are practicing on the new field. I assume that the alumni field is the field hockey field, correct?
14. its seems hard to get a kicker at any level even IA. remember the kid from LSU that missed something like 5 kicks in one game, including an extra point in over time to lose the game. kicking is usually not of great importance on the high school level. most high school kickers play other positions.
15. I know basketball is the main topic on this board right now, and rightfully so, but does anyone have any insight on Spring football practice? Did it start yet? if not, when? Is the Ryan Roeder rule still in effect or will we be having a spring game this year? Who is battling for positions?
16. Brown is a really really good coach and has proven it at different levels. Many people forget or don't know that he was 90-10 at Sullivan County Community College 1998-2001. Not sure if this was already linked here but here is an article from the Times Herald Record (Orange, Sullivan, Rockland County Paper). Looks like he really plans on staying here and not chasing the money. http://www.recordonline.com/archive/2006/0...rown-03-16.html
17. Jeff Haffley left UA to go to Pitt. Congrats to him. Another Fordie coaching prodigy. http://pittsburghpanthers.collegesports.co.../030606aaa.html
18. this is awesome. i'll be in NC on saturday on my annual golf trip, but switched my tee time to be able to watch the game. Wish I could be there.
19. Just giving you guys a heads-up well in advance. The Football Alumni Golf Outing will be held July 14 & 15th. Format will be the same as last year (mixer on Friday night and golf on Saturday morning at the Stadium Club in Schenectady). Contact Coach Ryan Roeder in the football office for more info.
20. Dayton is a fine program...but according to Dayton fans on the anygivensaturday.com forum, Dayton would rather go back to DIII then offer scholarships. They are a basketball school and it seems that the fans are content at playing and winning at a non-scholarship level.
21. Its actually not 30 scholarships this year. They will eventually be able to have 30 scholarship athletes on the team, but this year I believe they were limited to offering 10. From what I have read on this board, 8 full-rides were given to incoming freshman who have signed. I also heard from a reliable source that Colin Disch was awarded a well-deserved scholarship as well. I do not know about anyone else from the team. Don't forget that the team from last year was not just "walkons and TAP" kids, as the NEC in prior years allowed for 30 grant-in-aid/equivalencies. These are basically scholarships, but the players must meet financial status, which most do. This type of financial aid is how Patriot League schools get their football players in. The only difference between them and the NEC of the past is that the Patriot League allows for 55 grant-in-aid/equivalencies per team and the NEC only allowed for 30.
22. I sent an email to the managing editor of the paper as well as the executive editor. The email did not address the letter that was published but instead the utter lack of coverage of UA sports in general. I questioned why the coverage for less than successful low end professional sports was superior to a successful DI NCAA program. This is the response I got: Maybe an NCAA tourney bid will get their attention.
23. I just don't understand the TU's point of view on publishing such a letter, especially without an opposing opinion. It just seems irresponsible. Not to mention a half-ass attempt to create a controversy that shouldn't exist. They do the same thing every year Ford has a so-called "QB" controversy. Why can't they focus on the positive for once. We should flood Brian Etkin with emails and encourage him to do a column in response. He seems to be the only one at the TU that has been somewhat supportive of UA sports.
