I just got the invitation to this in the mail yesterday although I don't recall getting one in the past. Just curious, is anyone planning on attending?

Anyone go? Anything interesting to report? I understand it is primarily for athletes, coaches and families.

Didn't go, but Rodger was MC and he interviewed McElroy on the 6:20 sports. He said Brown was on the road but he expected to have an agreement in place soon after he got back.

 

Nothing about the event was reported in either the T-U or Gazette that I noticed.

For some reason, I thought this replaced the basketball banquet. Was looking to see who the MVP was...

 

Did that already occur?

Last year, the MVP's were announced at the banquet. Nothing on the Athletic web site yet. I assume it was the same this year.

Lou and Jamar were selected co-MVPs.

Although it's pretty much the same, I think McElroy said that Brown was out of town and that an announcement of an "agreement in principle" would be made when he was back. Whether it's the case or not, McElroy made it sound like the "agreement in principle" was already set and that they just wanted to officially announce it when Brown was present. This is opposed to waiting to agree on something until when Brown gets back.

Was there a male and female "Athlete of the Year" named? Maybe I just missed it. Isn't there usually such a pair of awards?

Probably won't be announced until all spring sports are completed > late May/early June.
