RACC Rowdies Progress

Hey there everyone, I figured that I would post some news about what has been going on with the RACC Rowdies.

 

First off, I actually decided to be smart and create an email account for the RACC Rowdies so I don't have to keep using my personal one (yeah, and it only took me 4 months to figure that one out!...lol). It is raccrowdies@hotmail.com if any of you would like to email the group anything.

 

Second, I (dressed up as one of the UAlbany Great Dane mascots none-the-less) will be passing out the official RACC Rowdies t-shirts to the incoming freshmen during their evening socials at Orientation during the summer. I should have about 6-10 shirts to give out per conference (there are 10 frosh conferences during the summer). So that should be fun.

 

We will also (barring any massive screw-ups) will have a full page ad in the ASP telling new students about us and inviting them to join.

 

Things that I'm working towards and have been discussing include a website for the Rowdies (hopefully off the Athletics' page?) and possibly getting hoodies for some members to wear in the winter instead of just the t-shirt to advertise ourselves. I would also like to see some type of banner or sign saying "RACC Rowdies" on the rail above our "South Hoop" section.

 

So things are looking pretty good!!

Getting them at orientation will be huge. That should get awareness and attendance up. Will also ensure that the team keeps winning at home.

I have been unable to make any LAX games and only a few softball. Are the rowdies in attendence, or are you just a basketball entity. I'd like to see you at VB too. All events that any of you can make are appreciated.

I agree with alum73. The more events you guys can make it to, the better.

 

Sounds like the RACCROWDIES will be a force to be reckoned with in the

'05-'06 season. Great job!

GODANESGO ... great work as always ... the Rowdies are as critical as wins on the court to making this program really become something ... UA should provide you kids the cash for any signs, but if not, announce a fund drive, i'm in ... any other resources you need, post or shoot me an e-mail ... good luck with the move, assuming that it is still on ... go Danes

I have to admit, the Rowdies attendance for the Spring sports hasn't been as high as it was for the basketball games so far this year. But I am encouraging the group to show up (in their shirts!) for the huge Spring Stomp game tomorrow. I know at least a handful of us will be wearing them, so feel free to stop us and say hi!

 

I think, especially since the group is so new, that the RACC as a indoor gym works well with getting people out and in a single section. Likely more than a field game does.

 

But I think the turn out will be really good for this game!

i cant make it, because ill be covering the game for WCDB with Craig. So brng your walkmans or boom boxes if you got them and listen to us as the game is going on.

If the Rowdies recruit well this fall maybe we can have a friendly Alumni-Rowdies basketball game sometime. For the alumni, UA is only a 10 minute drive from 3 hospitals.

Haha, I think that would be great! And Coach Brown keeps telling me that he's willing to do anything he can to help the Rowdies out, so maybe I would be able to get him and/or some of the players to be the refs for the game..lol.

The old guys are in trouble if Brown is coaching the Rowdies. I'd guess his plan would be to press and run alot and wear us down.

 

BTW-if Hutch, Mookie, Wyatt or Q are going to grad school they count as alumni
