LAX BIG WIN OVER YALE!

Recommended Posts

Sounded great on WCDB. They were a little off w/ some terms, but this was their first shot at it. Great job by both Yale and Albany in sloppy conditions.

Is Kevin Rae our first 1st team AA???? Daquino absolutely ran the offense to precision. Yale lost this game on EMO's (like a power play). They were 0 for 6 on EMO's.

UA is now 6-3. The Danes, excepting Syracuse, could run the table and get HF advantage!

Didn't realize WCDB was covering that game.

Really fun atmosphere last night. I don't know much about lacrosse but have a good time watching it. The way the scheduling has gone this year it's much easier to catch a few games.

Rae was terrific especially late in the game. A couple of times in the fourth Yale had some point-blank looks that he stopped cold.

The main picture on the front page of today's Gazette Sports section is an action shot of Brendan Russell from last night's game. The game article is on the top of the front page column one. I feel this is great coverage by the Gazette.

I also thought the atmosphere was great last night. I saw some athletic dept. people attempting a head count and I'd be curious what they determined (since I don't have one of those electronic abacuses ((actually, what is the plural of abacus?)) One of the drawbacks of playing on the football field is the fans are further removed from the field. I had a little trouble following shots in close, and while Kevin Rae made several up close saves in the second half, it was hard to see how great they were, although the Gazette reporter did a good job of calling them the turning point of the game.

Again, with the disclaimer that I really don't know the game, a couple of things struck me last night comparing the game to Stony Brook. (1) Yale seemed to make a concerted effort to shoot low at Rae and he had trouble with it early in the game; but seemed to adjust in the second half. (2) Yale really harassed Daquino behing the net with a long stick and shut off the cutters, especially Thomson. But in the second half, Coach Marr obviously made some adjustments, sending Sollozzo back to take pressure off Daquino and we seemed to score on wrap around shots in the 4th quarter more. Our coaching staff seems to be pretty adept at halftime adjustments.

I'd be curious to know what publicity the game received on campus, as to be honest the attendance was better than I expected. This makes me believe that when we start winning at basketball, attendance will increase dramatically among the student population.

Yep...WCDB is doing all the games for the rest of the year (home and one away at 'Cuse).

Charlie Voelker was the halftime guest....the guy is a breath of fresh air for UA.

Announced attendance was 456. I would assume that amount of fans would have been higher, but for the weather. I would guarantee 1k fans if we run the table (upsetting 'Cuse) for the game versus Bing.
