Exciting Evening Set for UA Lax

Recommended Posts

courtesy of the stony brook upset of umbc on saturday, the danes can clinch the regular season AE title outright with a win next saturday night (5/1) over bing ... AE Lax Playoff Picture

i believe that the link posts an inaccurate time for the game, it should be 7pm ...

not a bad year for the team (repeating, etc.), if i recall correctly, there was some talk in this group and on the AE board last year that umbc would come into the America East and clean house ... considering that the AE schedule has the semifinals set for wednesday 5/5, it will (assuming a dane victory) be interesting to see if the UA athletic dept. could/would hold the game under the lights in the hope of bringing out a crowd ... congratulations and good luck to the team next weekend

Agree with your take on UMBC. They were picked to win the conference and Marr made mention of it at the March luncheon. Most people expected them to waltz through the conference schedule but should they lose to Vermont they won't even make the conference tourney.

Things couldn't have worked out better in terms of the Bing game with everything on the line. Hopefully the weather is decent and the crowd is better.

Sure...one guy is not a team...but guys remember that UMBC lost one of the premier players in the country. Gallagher is a AA. I think that, combined with the surge in popularity of the three state schools lax programs, has led to this strange season for UMBC!

Danes blew it. 9-8 loss. Played like crap and suffered a huge letdown at the end, it seems. Now they fall from possible #1 to a road game to Baltimore as the #3 seed.

Have to come up big there to force the rematch in Binghamton (assuming they can get by SBU, which if they can't then we might have a home championship game on our hands???)

Danes looked sloppy last night and Bing looked very disciplined and methodical. Their goalie was fantastic. Too bad the seniors had to go out with a loss but the second season begins Wednesday.

The crowd was good (1250 according to Dane96) and I thought pretty loud. If they were looking for a home coming atmosphere for lacrosse it seemed like they got it.

The #1 seed hasn't meant too much the last few years as it hasn't gotten anyone into the NCAAs. Hopefully this loss stings and the Danes can go down and take it out on UMBC.
