WBB: 12 Seed NCAA Tournament

Recommended Posts

Syracuse: No. 4 Syracuse vs. No. 12 Albany, No. 5 Florida vs. No. 13 Army

Put the entire site on upset alert. Syracuse and Florida, two teams without much recent experience when it comes to the weight of NCAA expectations, face mid-major opponents that have built toward this opportunity with a senior star for four years. Army's Kelsey Minato (23.6 PPG) and Albany's Shereesha Richards (23.7) rank among the top four scorers in the bracket. And Albany already has habit of scaring favored seeds, nearly upsetting North Carolina when Richards was a freshman and Duke a season ago. Even if the seeds hold, either the Orange or Gators would add a pleasantly unfamiliar shade of orange to the Sweet 16.

Shereesha Richards, No. seed 12 Albany: Ask Tennessee (19 points, 10 rebounds) or USC (33 points) what the mid-major part is of the senior's game.

best possible draw for the ladies....close to home so FANS can make the short trip and somewhat surprisingly, got a higher seed than Army who beat us earlier in the year and also aren't playing the host school unless its the next round!!! Great luck lady Danes...way overdue to get at least one of these games....

Coach Abe on Wyland today. Keys will be boxing out and getting back in transition. Coaches had to step up in practice because the scout team is on spring break.

Florida coaches will be ready for us, but not sure about their players. Rodger said at their bracket party the reporters' questions and the players concerns were all about playing Syracuse on their home court.

If Albany zones us, we'll shoot 50 threes

Syracuse has shot 1000 three-pointers in 33 games this year. But they only made 290. We're 74 of 251 (a slightly better 29.5%)

Lest anyone think we're going up against some storied powerhouse program, if we win this game the Albany women's team will have more Sweet Sixteen appearances than Syracuse. and we've never had an NCAA home game.

Third fan bus is now open for registration.

Alumni Association hosted three busses with about 120 people, plus all those driving themselves. I read Cuse women average 650 or so people a game. Let's be loud!

Do the SU women usually play at the Old Manly Field House? That would be a better venue for spectators and tv. Much more intimate and loud. If that's the case maybe SU's women aren't quite as used to the Dome as one would think. Still, regardless of where they usually play, I'm sure the Dome still feels homey to them - a nice perk for sure.
