Joey Carino has committed to the U Albany Lacrosse team.

Joey Carino has committed to the U Albany Lacrosse team.  He was offered by Syracuse out of HS and played FB at UA instead.  Entered FB transfer portal after the fall season. Just committed within the last couple of hours.

I’ve sort of been waiting for this to happen. My thought is that he read the tea leaves and saw he’d be nothing more than a bit role player for the rest of his FB career at Albany. No way for me to know, but I suspect it’s LAX only.

Me too.  He was a great HS Lacrosse player, fairly heavily recruited.  He entered the transfer portal for FB and had offers from D1 schools but on the next level down.

When Cuff left, Carino had a window, but with Poff’s success and now the kid from Auburn that window has closed. He’s clearly a terrific athlete. If he can catch, he’d probably make a good slot receiver in the Edelman mode. If the ‘cuse offers you for lax, I’m sure Marr has kept a line of communication open in case he wanted to switch. I’m looking forward to seeing what he brings to the table.

Plus the kid from PA is making his official visit this coming weekend and 5 U Albany FB were at his school to watch a Basketball game and do a home visit.

Kudo's for Scott Marr for reaching out to an athlete already on campus.  A great example of an athlete showing commitment to UAlbany as a school as well as its athletic programs.

I agree - kudos to Coach Marr but there isn’t a downside.  He has a tryout so there’s no commitment to him making the team.  He was good enough to get a Syracuse offer so he’s probably a very good player.
