  1. As I said on the AE board I was sorry to hear about the bottle thing and whatever else happened yesterday. My interactions with Vermont fans have generally been pretty positive compared to those with some of our SUNY rivals. Maybe I just have fond memories because we win big games at Patrick Gym... We were curious yesterday why there were three or four rows of Vermont fans between the two Albany sections of fans. With all of us crammed in there like sardines it seemed like a recipe for acrimony.
  2. After two hours of constant screaming, chanting and clapping at Patrick Gym the crowd at SEFCU was frustratingly quiet for much of the game last night. I was glad we finally got into it at the end of the game to supply some noise and energy. Lady DP pointed out that at the end of what I described as a "great day" I was hoarse from yelling and my hands were bleeding from all the clapping. Totally worth it.
  3. I'll admit I was one of those doubters, but I'm glad he proved my dumb ass wrong You weren't the only one. Jon Iati said pretty much the same thing in today's paper. Jacob is undersized, not that athletic. What he does have is a sweet outside shot and the onions to take those shots when it really counts.
  4. That was great. I'm sure he now thinks every March is like this, we send two teams to the NCAA tourney.
  5. Those Iati threes at the end of the game were like something scripted from a movie. The guy everyone says is too small, not athletic enough, etc, etc,etc comes in delivers the blow that kills the giant. Perfection. I'm not sure there's been a better day as a Danes fan than these two championships in two states. Crazy awesome day.
  6. Add to this list: First SUNY to put the men's and women's programs in the NCAA tournament in the same year.
  7. I remember that too. Spartans! Prepare for Glory!
  8. I like your optimism LAK! I hope we saw the same determined group tomorrow that we saw last weekend.Rusin is a concern for me, he played well against UMBC and I thought might have been the difference. That said, I'm not getting up at 5 AM tomorrow morning to go to Vermont to be quiet at Patrick Gym. I hope others feel the same way!
  9. Stadium Journey has a review of the AE Tourney at the CU.
  10. I never took that much glee at Tromboli's breakdown after playing us. He always seemed like a decent kid who played hard and obviously wanted to win. In general, I have a lot of respect for their program and their fans. They've just happened to be between us and where we want to be.
  11. The Alumni Association is asking what DVD we want to watch on the bus to Vermont: -The Washington game -The Stony Brook game -The 2007 AE Championship Final at Patrick Gym. Hard to go wrong. On the AE forum the Vermont fans were talking about how annoying it was to hear us do the UA-UAUAUA-UA-UA after every made basket in 2007. I think we have our blueprint for Saturday.
  12. Dallas E. was also named first-team all state. State championship, first team all state, you don't get much better of a senior year than that.
  13. Our recruits are having a nice year. Dallas E. wins the state title and Lamin Fulton's team got an at-large bid to the National Tournament. There's a bit on Fulton in the story.
  14. Even better that former Dane Lucious Jordan is on the JMU staff helping them get to the dance.
  15. We needed a nearly perfect game from Mike Black and he gave us one 4-6 from three, 4 assists and no turnovers. I think on that last play we had one timeout left. Good decision to just let them play instead of calling a timeout and letting SBU set up their defense. Had that shot not gone down I would have felt differently I'm sure but CB trusted his senior to make a play. I understand the kids rushing the floor. It's a big win and they're excited. One of the sweetest wins at Sefcu Arena in a while. It goes without saying but it was a great freakin weekend.
  16. The final shot of Mike Black's career at Sefcu Arena was the winning basket in a game to beat Stony Brook and send us to the America East Championship game. A great finish.
  17. I thought the same thing. Fun to be a part of although I'm not sure I can repeat it. Not sure if I'll be able to talk tomorrow. That was brutal, physcial, and a grind of a game, in other words, tournament basketball. Sam Rowley had almost half our free throw attempts tonight. It's nice having a low post presence. On the other hand, Maine hardly went inside at all which helped us. Weird tech on Brown. It might have fired the team up but it didn't look like an intentional tech at all. Other than maybe leaving the coaching box I'm not sure what he said or did. A couple hours before I watched Hartford's coach do two hours of jumping jacks, windmills and a James Brown impression on the same sideline without a tech. Brown makes the Florida Gator chomp motion and gets a "T." I knew Maine went a while without a basket in the second half, I didn't realize it was almost 8 minutes.
  18. Congrats to Mike Black for going over 1,500 points tonight.
  19. I was hoping the SBU women would make it through to Sunday to play us but they were knocked out by yesterday along with Bing.
  20. Gotta be a lot of fun in Sheldon, the team they beat was 26-0 this year until that game. From the Florida JUCO state championship game, Lamin Fulton's NWF team lost in the final minute. From his coach's twitter: "lamin_fulton32 played his ass off today!!! If you really didn't get enough basketball this weekend the Fulton game is archived online - http://panhandle.ezstream.com/play/index.cfm?id=38262EF699
  21. Dallas E. scored 21 in his team's state semi-final win on Thursday. He'll play for the state championship this weekend.
  22. It's great to see Lowrie get the recognition. I have to admit, there are so many weapons on this team I sometimes forget just how good she is. Glad to see those in the league didn't. Ebone Henry, three time defensive player of the year AND all-time leading scorer in program history. There's only two ends of the court and she owns both of them.
  23. Not his best night. Overall I think he's contributed pretty well at Maryland, better than I thought. Averaging double digit minutes in the ACC isn't too shabby.
  24. Nice. Can we keep it for all the games? And the Ommegang too.
