Some pretty good stuff in there. I liked the part about our current culture of players and knowing what it takes to win.

Another name to add to the list of possible recruits, Addison Spruill. A 6'4 220 pound guard from Brevard CC.

Rough way to end. Terrific showing in a game I thought we had. -

Would've been more if we'd gotten more tickets (less than 100, I think) Agree. I thought it was strange they were pushing ticket sales in Philly when the game was sold out. -

Knocking down some free throws would be nice too. Hopefully Ebone Henry can stay on the floor more than 10 minutes this half. -

Postmortem on the season

Ha! Sorry, maybe I'm just not ready for this season to be over. With the women playing this afternoon maybe it won't be over. A great day weekend to be a Great Dane. -
Postmortem on the season
Dane Pound replied to Clickclack's topic in Winter Sports-Danes Hoops, Track
Just a minor quibble but I'm not sure about "postmortem" on this season. Yesterday's game felt more like the split decision at the end of "Rocky" than any death requiring an autopsy. Our season ended at the hands of one of college basketball's best coaches and a group of players who will be in the NBA next year. This was the wackiest year for expectations I've ever had. When I left Hartford after losing to Stony Brook in the semis we looked like we had everyone coming back from a 19 win seasons. I thought this year was going to be the best year ever had bt far and we would put the men's and women's program in the tourney. Then April came. Suero and Aronhalt left. I thought we'd be decent and the women were going to dance. Then November and we beat Washington and win a ton of games. Expectations "unreasonably" high again. In the end I don't know that we've ever gotten as much out of a team as we did this year. It was a ton of fun to watch and the last couple of weeks were like a movie. -
Earlier posters have done a better job voicing their pride in how we played than I could have. Admittedly when that loose ball seemed to be bouncing around in the paint FOREVER when we were down 8 I wasn't thinking about being proud in defeat, I was thinking about winning. I was glad to see Duke give credit to our "two good guards" but with the exception of some turnovers I thought our third guard, Peter Hooley, played pretty damn well for a freshman on a huge stage - 13 pts, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Looking at this team early in the season I admit I wasn't sure how we were winning so many games. We didn't have an "unstoppable" player like we did with Jamar or Tim Ambrose or even Suero. I think other people weren't sure either and we saw a variety of reasons why a team that "wasn't that good" was winning so much. We were winning because we have a tough group of guys who played smart and as a cohesive unit. We saw it through the tourney and it was great to see it displayed on the national stage.

Dallas Ennema won the state championship last week. UAlbany won the conference championship last week. Tomorrow night Lamin Fulton will be playing for the Juco National Championship. His team won the semi finals tonight. Game will be available online.

Wilson maybe, he played defense. I appreciate the way we are again defending. All O, No D was not UA basketball. I'd add Mike Black that list. Add him and move him near the top of that list.

It's excellent going into the NCAA tournament KNOWING that we're going to get at least two games this weekend. -
Bracket Challenge - 2013
Dane Pound replied to Clickclack's topic in Winter Sports-Danes Hoops, Track
Paying the price in advance for the time to head to Philly on Friday. Plus, do I really need a bracket to demonstrate my superior knowledge of college basketball? -
I generally don't think too much about this kind of stuff. CB has taken our program places none of our peer SUNY programs have been without cheating. There are not many hoop programs that have three NCAA tourney appearances in their first 13 years of D1 existence. My hope for Coach Brown is the same for Scott Marr. They don't have to leave to move up because our program is moving up, one way or the other.

Seth Curry I hope. He's one of three guys shooting over 40% from three for them.

Their best Out of Conference win was RPI 209. ouch! True but we had some good top 100 wins in conference play. After looking at the RPI the seed is fair, I thought it might be higher because of it being the second year. Common UNC and Albany opponent - La Salle Results: UNC 85 La Salle 55 Albany 75 Lasalle 36 Both teams blew La Salle out but we did a better job. There's your reason to believe. -
It's a good year to go into spring with a scholarship or maybe two to give. I'd have to think we'd be looking for a shooting guard considering we have a trio of guys who can get minutes at the point.

On second thought, there were 11 teams in the tourney below us in RPI so maybe 14 is about right. Our height advantage in the middle is negated a bit against UNC, they have a 6'6 center. -

I'm as happy about the location as I am the draw. We have a good history with Philly. It's close, it should be a night game with plenty of exposure. Really couldn't ask for more except to knock Duke off and get tickets to the game. Logan Aronhalt has beaten Duke twice this year, no reason we can't do it, right? -
Looking for the replay of the AE Championship game on ESPN3 I stumbled on Dallas E. high school championship games in the archive. They're listed under Sheldon(IA) if anyone can't wait until next year to see him play. There are at least two games in there.
