  1. Just came home and watched the replay. Clark didn't fill me with confidence down the stretch but damn nice win. Starting five freshman on the road against a 20 win team. Also, Kendall Lauderdale is now accepting apologies...
  2. I don't know that we ever recruited him but local product Michael Ortale Jr. committed to Iona today.
  3. Feature on Coach Mullen in the New York Times - https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/18/sports/lauren-mullen-albany-colleen.html
  4. Kind of crazy, Cam Healy has 423 points this year. He's got an outside shot at Jamar's freshman record of 509. I don't know for sure, but Ahmad Clark has 55 steals this year. I think that already makes him the D1 season leader.
  5. Good to see him get the recognition. I think he goes under the radar a lot of games but has been playing well. He's top 10 in rebounds in the conference.
  6. Also, after missing a lot of the preseason and early games, he is the freshest of the freshman. Curious to see people down on Lauderdale. I thought he gave us decent minutes today off the bench.
  7. Thanks. The ESPN feed dropped for a minute after that play so I didn't know what happened. He looked good enough when he came back in a few minutes later.
  8. Almost literally at the end. Another nice effort by Lulka - 14 pts, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and no turnovers.
  9. Did Lulka get hit in the head? Wasn't sure what the injury was and they didn't say.
  10. I agree with some of this but wanted to add... Point 2 kind of negates Point 1. I don't think we'll see if Lauderdale has a post game because the ball almost never goes inside. I don't think Lulka gets enough touches either. You're right, there are too many ill-advised outside shots. Point 3 - Maybe I'm wrong but I thought De Sousa and Campbell were on the floor at the same time. We played Devonte at the PF spot sometimes to guard Gantz (who I am very happy is graduating.) I like Miller and there are many times when we look steadier when he's on the floor.
  11. Lost in my annoyance earlier, I forgot to say Duquette is doing an awesome job at UML. They were "supposed" to be down this year after losing Jahad Thomas. Bodes well for the strength of the conference if he can get UML playing well, Odom at UMBC, combined with Vermont and Stony Brook not stinking.
  12. So much for my hopes of us rebounding better this game. The whole box score should just say "DNP - team decision" Still, not making long-term decisions based on short term results. Lutete is a transfer from Radford. Kind of wished we'd given him a call when he was looking to leave Radford. Career high for Adam Lulka. Not sure why we don't go inside with the ball more against UML since they essentially play 4 guards and a forward.
  13. One of the more frustrating things about the first game against UML was that we got outrebounded by a team that isn't a great rebounding team. Hopefully that changes on Wednesday.
  14. Just watched the Big Monday game. A bunch of kids in the Carolina student section were wearing UMBC jerseys to taunt Virginia which I thought was hysterical. Virginia got the last laugh on the scoreboard though.
  15. Got home tonight and watched the replay. Healy missed a bunch of shots I've gotten used to him hitting. We need Clark, Healy and Rizzuto to have good nights if we're going to compete. Only one guy had a good night - Rizzuto. Clark was pretty much taken out of the game. Actually thought Hank played pretty well. We seemed to sub in Devonte to guard Lamb but it doesn't really matter who Lamb has guarding him.
  16. Mitch Doherty's stat line last night - 18 pts, 8 rebounds, 10 assists.
  17. Hartford knocks off UMBC at UMBC tonight. UMBC had won 5 in a row.
  18. On a Monday morning. This season: Albany beats Monmouth 83-62 Monmouth beats Penn 76-74 Penn beats Villanova 78-75 Also, Albany beats Niagara 79-74 Niagara beats Pitt 71-70 Pitt beats Florida State 75-62 Conclusion: You can play the six degrees game to get anywhere OR Cremo and Nichols transferred to inferior programs
  19. Healy was 9-15 from 3. Rest of team 3 of 17. Best part about Healy is that all the other elements of his game are falling into place. He also had double digit rebounds, a couple of assists and steals. More than just a shooter. I liked that we had a double digit win AND I left Sefcu annoyed with the way we played against the Bing zone. It was like we were handed a rubik's cube every time down the floor.
  20. So, we've gone from not making to conference playoffs to being a game out of hosting a game - UML and Hartford both lost and are now 4-4 in conference. Tough part about the next 8 games is our conference schedule isn't balanced. We only have 3 homes and 5 on the road.
  21. This seems like a tough time to coach at our level and I don't mean that as an excuse for Gattuso (or anyone else.) They don't get the first pick of kids when it comes to recruiting and then when you do get someone good, they can transfer out with the grad transfer rule. A bunch of the guys on the grad transfer wire are FCS players going to FBS. A couple of things about the grad transfer rule that I'll be curious to see: 1. If the NCAA ever looks at how many grad transfers actually ending up graduating at their new school. 2. Coaches are less likely to redshirt guys now. 3. If some coaches actually try to slow down their players academic progress so they don't graduate early. Also, good luck to EBH wherever he ends up. It may be petty but I've replaced him with Mofor in the BPF banner.
  22. Looking forward to getting a live look at Sessoms from Bing since there's been so much hype about him. Good matchup with him and Clark.
  23. Sorry to see that about Flory. He had the injury in the preseason and clearly didn't want to redshirt this year.
  24. Hank with a textbook box out and rebound and gets called for a foul.
