  1. We've matched up with them pretty well this year. The thing that concerns me is that we have almost no post-season experience. UMBC has some guys who have been through the file. Players that have won championships can usually find an extra level in the playoffs.
  2. Hank has been more or less what I expected. He's been more valuable than he gets credit for against teams where he has someone his size to guard - Monmouth, Niagara, SB, Vermont. He struggles against a bunch of conference teams that play undersized big men and Hank has to dance around on the three point line with them. He might end up being more Blake Metcalf than John Puk but we'll see.
  3. Late in the season he seemed to recognize that when he gets into the lane there isn't anyone there who can really challenge his shot. Pretty excited about the level we're recruiting right now.
  4. Sessoms is a nice player. I do have to point out that he's starting with four seniors (I think 2 or 3 of them are 5th year seniors) while Healy is starting with 4 other freshman. De Sousa with 5 blocks tonight and a couple of steals. Great to see Devonte finish his career playing well. He looks more like the guy I remember from his soph year. Nice bench minutes from Lauderdale. Not going to hang our heads over 7-9 in conference. We had three tough OT games and weren't far from a winning conference record.
  5. In a couple of years we'll probably be wondering why the ROY debate this year was between Sessoms and Healy.
  6. With 17 points tonight, Healy would tie Jamar's freshman scoring record of 509. Also, probably the two ROY candidates going head to head - Healy and Sessoms.
  7. I'm not arguing against the decision to remove Clark. I was wondering who they thought would inherit the PG duties when Clark went the bench. Hartford was smart to pressure Healy. It'll be interesting to see what adjustments get made.
  8. I like that plan. Can we add ability to shoot from the outside? I guess I'm curious about the lineup switch when Clark went out and de Sousa in since we removed our starting PG from the starting spot.
  9. Agree about Healy. Asking him to score and handle is a lot. I've been curious if the long-term plan is to have Rizzuto take on more of the role of bringing the ball up the floor.
  10. Entertaining finish. SB isn't exactly a work of art on the offensive end of the floor but they're tough. They need to regroup quickly. Hartford has a chance to grab the #2 seed if they beat them next week.
  11. Watching this game tonight. Someone behind the Vermont bench is wearing a UAlbany Basketball sweatshirt. Who wears that to a Vermont game?
  12. Tie game in lax with a minute left. OT in basketball. Weekends are supposed to be relaxing but this one is killing me.
  13. I was going to say more but I'm not sure I need to. He had himself a half.
  14. Should be a great game tonight in Glens Falls. Shane O'Dell's Schalmont team against JGIII. #2 in the state vs. #3.
  15. Got stuck at work the other night so I missed the game. Caught the replay last night. Young teams need to learn how to handle adversity but they also need to learn how to handle prosperity. We didn't handle prosperity well. Three wins in a row and we relaxed and paid the price. Clark drives me crazy sometimes but going forward I see our backcourt as Rizzuto and Healy. I actually think Clark is a good weapon coming off the bench (when he plays under control.)
  16. Healy is 41 points away from tying Jamar's' freshman point total of 509.
  17. Iowa high school playoffs have started. Trey Hutcheson's team advanced Friday night. Hutcheson had 24 points including 18-21 from the line. https://www.kcrg.com/content/sports/Linn-Mar-on-to-substate-final-after-beating-Waterloo-East-506252771.html
  18. Agree. The surprising thing was that the change was made AFTER a win (at Maine.)
  19. Cam Healy is now Neo at the end of the first Matrix movie when he realizes he can manipulate the matrix. We seemed to have figure out how many weapons we have and how to use them. De Sousa is so fun to watch. Guys were clearly intimidated when he was guarding them. Even when they got him into the paint they weren't willing to go up shots. He changes things. A ton of credit to Ahmad Clark. He hasn't seemed to pout or be annoyed about going to the bench. I thought he was really good tonight. Didn't try to do too much. He and Devonte are really nice players to have coming off the bench.
  20. UML lost to Hartford tonight which moves us into 5th place. As unlikely as it seemed a few weeks ago, we're still alive for a first round home game.
  21. Has a good feature on Cam Healy - https://pickandroll.com.au/nappies-threes-and-european-dreams-in-depth-with-cameron-healy/
  22. I think you also practice with the other starters also. For the long-term continuity and chemistry that's a good thing. deSousa was also on the floor at the end. Whatever trust he needed to earn from CB, he seems to have it.
