  1. He said in an interview that he stopped doing them when conference play started. He wanted to focus on the game.
  2. Hartford has just been schizophrenic this year. They have some really bad losses but respectable wins against Rutgers and Miami of Ohio. The middle of the conference a little more respectable than it has in the past. As you said, good enough beat anyone on a given night and certainly good enough to beat us the way we're playing now. Vermont will be interesting. They've opened with 3 of 4 conference games at home and their lone road game was UMass - Lowell.
  3. Which is why I have such a new found reapect for Piekell and Becker winning all those regular season championships. It truly does take a lot of not only coaching, but managing the team through the grind. I have wondered sometimes if it isn't philosophical. Pikiell and Becker tend to play a larger rotation of players which stands up to the rigors of the regular season better. Sometimes, in the pressure of the postseason, their offenses get shutdown and someone needs to make a play and because they play so many players, their system sometimes comes apart. CB seems to play a (ahem) tighter rotation and sometimes rides guys into the ground so they drop some regular season games they probably shouldn't and keeps them out of the regular season hunt. It does, establish a sense of ownership among your starters and there's no question over who is going to take big shots. They win tournament games when it looks like they shouldn't because the alpha dogs have put in their miles. Just a thought.
  4. Not sure if this is why but remember Foster got hurt. True. That explains Stire's minutes maybe but not Campbell and Cremo.
  5. Cochran played 3 minutes in the Maine blowout. If we didn't see more of him in that game, it's hard to imagine seeing more of him now. Speaking of the Maine game, I'm not sure why Stire, Campbell and Cremo all played over 30 minutes in that game with the Bing game right around the corner. There is something weird going on with the bench. As a group, this team should ask itself how Greig Stire played 35 minutes against Maine on Saturday and then did everything short of lighting himself on fire tonight to help win this basketball game without much help from anyone else.
  6. Probably Charles. No doubt about that. I was thinking of it for next year and the amount of front court minutes that are going to open up with Stire, Charles and Foster graduating. We haven't had many JUCO bigs come in with an impact right away compared to guards.
  7. Clark with a nice game today. Don't see many guys score 15 points while only taking 4 shots from the field. Watching today I was thinking about the difference we've had in recruiting JUCO guards and recruiting JUCO big guys. We've had terrific juco guards come through Albany - Singletary, Siggers, Gary Johnson, DJ Evans, etc, etc. JUCO big guys have been another story. Granted, it's comparing apples and oranges but I was trying to think of a JUCO front court player who's had the biggest impact.
  8. Some video and a short interview with Rizzuto. His team is undefeated so far this season. https://www.yorkdispatch.com/videos/sports/2018/01/11/video-northeastern-75-york-high-53/109352526/
  9. Hopefully nothing serious with Foster. Saw him limp off in the first half.
  10. No, I don't think they should be paid. This seems like a ploy to benefit the power conferences. They have more resources and could afford to pay their athletes and probably pay them more. This would widen the gap between the college haves and the have nots.
  11. Do we really want Devonte to be more aggressive? I do. I don't want him to hoist threes but he can look to score more. Generally when he gets the ball in the paint something good happens. Defenses don't really even have to account for him since he mostly looks to pass.
  12. Nichols had the wrist injury around the Monmouth game and I don't think his offense and shooting have been the same since. Teams are playing him to drive now without respecting his outside shot. The puzzling thing is he used to be really aggressive in transition and isn't anymore. We walk the ball up the court even when we could run. Both Hartford anf Unh looked to slow us down and we helped do it to ourselves.
  13. For a veteran team that last possession was awful. There is something weird going on...Nichols doesn't look at all like the same guy...Cremo missing free throws. I'm guessing Eli had a much better time at the wedding.
  14. Our New Year's Resolution seems to have been to stop rebounding.
  15. That was the surprising part to me also. I was thinking CB might sub all five starters out at the first media timeout in the second half because there didn't seem to be any difference. At times I've thought Travis Charles and Nichols have been the emotional leaders on this team but that wasn't the case the other night. We had more or less smooth sailing the first couple of months of the season. It will be interesting to see how this team reacts to some adversity.
  16. I was hoping CB would say after the game that the team has the flu because that's what it looked like to me. No energy and not much effort. For a team that's been clear they have championship goals it was a surprise to come out of the gate like that. Credit to Hartford. They played like it was the AE Championship game and Gallagher coached like it. They probably already had their scout from last year and implemented it.
  17. They are jumping right in to conference play with two big games coming up. Tonight against Hartford kicks things off and then UNH.
  18. I think you are giving him wayyy too much credit there. He's good, but shooting 18% from deep and 65% from the FT line is not what you want from your star point guard. Nichols isn't much better statistically, but he's not losing a Cremo or Charles. I admit I may have exagerated but he's vital to what they do. Wins are probably the most telling stat of a point guard.
  19. Not to take anything away from Lamb but I'm not sure he's UVM's best player. TBH is terrific and really makes them go. You could take four guys playing hackey sack on Church Street in Burlington, add TBH and you'd have a contender.
  20. Hartford has been wacky this year. They've lost to some really bad teams - LIU Brooklyn (twice) and Bryant but have some decent wins over Miami (OH) and Rutgers. I remember the Attia kid. He's a big guy to move out of the middle - 6'10 and 270. If he could hit free throws he'd be averaging double figures but he's shooting 42% from the line which is actually an improvement from last season.
  21. I watched the second half of that game. Weird game. I thought Stony Brook was in cruise control but let them back in it. Norfolk gave them ample chances to get back into it at the end. I think they missed four free throws in a row in the final minute. That was Norfolk's first D1 win the season, their previous win was against a D3 team. One of their losses was to a D3 team also. The news about Lamb stinks. Hate to see that happen to a kid in the middle of the season.
  22. A little surprised at the result. Dartmouth is a top 100 team and that game was bordering on a blowout at times. Impressive.
  23. Because highlights are better than not having highlights. Malachi de Sousa is #5 in white (South Kent.)
  24. In another thread, someone mentioned the tough turnaround in some of our conference road games in January. We have: Saturday, January 13 @ Maine Monday, January 15 @ Binghamton A lot of travel in a short amount of time. Also tough because Bing is playing better this year and are going to be amped up for us. Weds, January 24 @ Vermont Saturday, January 27 @ Stony Brook Two tough, emotional road games back to back.
