  1. I guess I'm used to that by now. I thought he coached more than he's done before. He got his team to play with a sense of urgency they didn't seem to have in the cup game last year. I thought his lineup with Oduro, Fischer and the three guards gave us some problems because Fischer can shoot from deep. You're right about Charles. He was clutch.
  2. Ahmad Clark gave us 10 really good minutes with Nichols on the bench. Impressed. He was poised, scored a little. The bench in general gave us good minutes with Travis and Stire in foul trouble in the first half. Foster played well. Siena seemed like they threw everything but the kitchen sink at us in terms of defense and their crowd was really into it. To win and not shoot the three great (33%) or from the line well (68%) is a credit. I thought Patsos was more under control than I've seem him although he probably could have earned a T during one his on court tirades.
  3. Watching the Boston College - Duke game. JGIII is behind the BC bench. He picked quite a game for a visit.
  4. In section 104 also. Best seats I've had to this game at the TUC, by far.
  5. Haven't seen that much of Siena this year. Seems like we've been playing games on the same days a lot of the time so I haven't watched them. A couple of concerns about this game: -Not sure favorites matter much in this kind of game. Last year, Siena was arguably the favorite with their four seniors and they lost at Sefcu. Two years ago, we were arguably the favorite with three seniors (Singletary, Hooley and Sanders) and lost at TUC. -Scout. CB does a good job scouting and coming up with a game plan. Other than Nico, I'm not really sure who gets minutes for them this year. Their lineup seems to have been all over the place this year.
  6. Interesting looking recruit from NJ first mentioned on the AE board. Had been a football recruit until he switched to basketball. https://www.njhooprecruit.com/the-dribble-drop/2017/12/5/thedribbledrop-interview-marcellus-earlington
  7. I'm guessing Nichols realized that and picked up those two early fouls on purpose last night so those guys could get some minutes.
  8. It's not just basketball, though. It's all 15 sports that you'd have to send to all those other places. Football can absorb the cost by playing a guarantee game every year that probably funds their travel.
  9. Agree with UofAlbany that this team believes it can "turn it on" whenever it wants. It probably drives us and the coaching staff crazy but so far, they've pretty much been right. I'm pretty happy to be 9-1 and having some stuff to work on. Almost thought the early fouls on David Nichols last night were kind of a blessing. It served to get more time for Costa and Ahmad Clark. Clark is such a nice player to have coming off the bench, can shoot and blow by his guy. Seems like we're really just seeing the tip of the iceberg from him so far.
  10. Not everything can be blamed on the bottom teams in the conference. Vermont had a great run last year but they didn't have a win against a top 100 team and they had their chances in the non-conference schedule. They had a one point loss to Houston than probably would have changed their fate had they pulled it out.
  11. I'm picturing a recruit visiting....this segment playing on the video screen...
  12. Former, really, really longshot recruit Hameir Wright and Washington are up on #2 Kansas with a couple of minutes left. Game is on ESPN.
  13. Nice! Make sure you wear purple if you do.
  14. When you play against a Jim Engles coached team, it's going to be a knife-fight. It was when he was at NJIT and it is at Columbia. I'm still not sure if I should be concerned that we were down 10 at home to Columbia or impressed that we erased the 10 point deficit in 3 minutes.
  15. I had a much different take. I think they were teammates at one time or another in Australia and imagine they are friends. I considered it a positive that they all stay in the same class together and go through the program.
  16. I like him too and he's going to be good. He's helped us already and as he gets more comfortable with what we're doing he'll help us even more. I think the tough part of our packed early schedule is that we haven't had stretches at home where we can practice and work on things. Hopefully that'll change in December. I like a lot of our bench in addition to Foster.
  17. Verbal commits says we've offered 6'4 guard Channel Banks from Sheridan College.
  18. A couple of things: -Colgate is better than I expected. They played smart, ran their offense and for the most part, didn't beat themselves. -As stupid as this sounds, Nichols and Cremo went 7-26 from the field and 1-8 from three. I'm actually happy that we beat a decent opponent with them having off nights. -Travis Charles should have been wearing a cape in the post-game press conference because he did everything. The shooting and the points were great but he also grabbed big rebounds and went on the floor to get loose balls. They should watch a film just of him from this game because he did everything he could to put them in a position to win. -Joe Cremo is an amazing player and a great kid but I really, really wish he would stop complaining to the refs. Granted, he had a lot to complain about tonight. -When Costa Anderson is open beyond the arc there shouldn't be any thinking about whether it's a good shot or a bad shot. It's a good shot. It could go it and probably will. -This team has played four games in four different states over the past week. They can be forgiven for being tired and I'm glad they were able to gut this win out. With all the travel the last couple of weeks, it's apparent they need some time at home, some rest and a couple of good practices to work on things.
  19. These games are good prep for teams like UNH and UML that their big guys shooting beyond the three point line. I'm really hoping to see a healthy David Nichols tonight. The wrist looked like it bothered him shooting from the line and in game the other night.
  20. It looks like Colgate has big guys who shoot from the outside. Might be a good night for Conway as that seems to be his game.
  21. Was thinking the same thing last night and CB mentioned it in the post-game that the other guards could have gotten more minutes. Hopefully we get to the point where he trusts those players in those spots. Last year, after 8 games we were 4-4 and coming off back-to-back losses to Holy Cross and Yale. We have a shot to be 7-1 after 8 games this year. I think the disappointment on the board is a result of seeing how good this team can be and not seeing it last night. I think there were a variety of factors for that.
  22. Not happy with this loss but it was a perfect storm. -third game of a three game road trip. -our engine (Nichols) didn't look like himself because of the wrist injury. It might have been better to hold him out. -Monmouth got their best player back (Seaborn) from injury.
  23. Looked like Nichols was involved in the pregame shootaround. I'm hoping that's a good sign.
