  1. Not too worried about a rematch with Vermont. There is a long way to go for that. Just beat Hartford on Saturday and get the 3 seed. To be perfectly honest, UMBC has probably caused Vermont more headaches than we have. I'll be happy if they're in that side of the bracket with the Catamounts. Not sure what happen with Stony Brook but it doesn't look like Woodhouse played much in that game. Not sure if he was injured or foul problems.
  2. Another big guy would have helped. Not sure how much. Campbell isn't the first guys to be humbled on his first visit to Patrick Gym.
  3. Interesting name on the transfer list - Henry Caruso of Princeton. He's a red-shirt grad transfer so he would be available without sitting out. He was injured his senor year and the Ivy League doesn't allow 5th year players. Was a first-team Ivy League his junior year and a terrific shooter.
  4. Funny, I can't help thinking about Stony Brook's winning streak last year. I think they had an 18 game streak going before we beat them at Sefcu and Dallas was on ESPN.
  5. Five games ago I thought he was playing like an all-defensive team player. He's been playing like an all-conference guy recently.
  6. Not sure I remember a game where two guys had double-doubles. Cremo and Campbell in this one.
  7. 8 turnovers is a pretty low number against a team that likes to press the way UMBC does. I tend to like wins anyway. But I really like wins where one of our stars had a bad night and other guys step up and Campbell did that. A lot of fun to watch his confidence and production grow as the season goes on. We got what we needed from Costa Anderson, didn't turn the ball over and knocked down free throws when we needed them.
  8. One of the differences is, Jamar's freshman year we had very little talent so he started and scored a ton of point that year. Cremo came off the bench because we we're a more established program now. I'd much rather have a balanced attacked with multiple guys contributing double digits.
  9. Since they're both point guards from Chicago, I thought I'd compare their soph years. Mike Black - 12.3 PPG, 2.9 assists, .8 steals per game, 43% from three, 65% from the FT line. David Nichols - 17 PPG, 3.3 assists, 1.4 steals per game, 33% from three, 84% from the FT line BTW - Cremo scored his 800th career point the other night. He and Nichols are on pace to score over 500 points this year. That would put them both near the top 10 for a single season scoring (Suero is #1 with 689 points.)
  10. I dunno. This back court of Nichols, Cremo and Campbell is likely going to be an 18-20 win team. I'd be reluctant to split that up. I'd like to see what summer workouts together with Anderson, Cochran, Cremo, Nichols and Campbell produce before I'd think about starting freshman. This looks more like Cremo's freshman year when everyone came back and he came off the bench.
  11. I'm guessing Maitland would have to sit out a year if he was transferring. He would be a nice addition.
  12. Avoiding the 4-5 game would be nice. Any opponent in that matchup is going to be a knifefight, either UMBC or UNH. Still a long way to go.
  13. I closed out of watching our game and ESPN was all like "Hey, Duke vs. North Carolina is on. You wanna watch it? You wanna watch it?" And I'm like "Of course not, I want to watch Hartford vs. UMBC. Duh." Didn't realize Devonte Campbell had the first double-double of his career. 12 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists.
  14. I guess so but why does will wait until there's 40 seconds left? Up 20 with 2:30 left, put them in! Solid road win. I think if we didn't give up a couple of threes in a row those guys might have gone in sooner. As for Mike Rowley, I imagine 100 games with a coach will buy you some leeway. We've all certainly watched other senors go through slumps - Mike Black, Iati. For anyone watching the AE standings, the Hartford-UMBC game is interesting. A couple of minutes left.
  15. Thats what I heard... Im told hell be fully cleared early March. Can Xavier and Lands take medical redshirts or did Lands play too much? Heard lands will need a waiver so probably not... Xavier yes! I am no expert on the NCAA rules but wouldn't a waiver be needed for any player taking a medical redshirt? Couldn't Xavier use a regular redshirt and still have a medical redshirt available to him in the event he ever got injured again? I think you only get five years to play your four years. Sometimes people will petition for a sixth year but it's kind of rare.
  16. With the snow today I'm glad: A) This is a road game and not a home game (for attendance) This is a road game that isn't the Maine trip. One of the things that wasn't mentioned in the story, I actually thought our defense was pretty good in the UNH game also.
  17. David Nichols made news also. Named to the CoSIDA All-Academic and nominated for academic all-american.
  18. A couple of games ago it looked like Bing had turned a corner, they beat Stony Brook and then won two straight. They've lost three straight since then, albeit to UMBC, UML and Vermont.
  19. Still, it has to be fun to look at the RPI if you're a Vermont fan: -1 60 Boise St. 14-7 0.5710 91 0.5324 Mwest 8-3 +1 61 Vermont 20-5 0.5701 199 0.4846 Aeast 11-0 -4 62 Pittsburgh 12-11 0.5700 7 0.6088 Acc 1-9 -9 63 Georgia 12-11 0.5698 18 0.5947 Sec 4-7 +8 64 Syracuse 16-9 0.5692 47 0.5624 Acc 8-4 +2 65 Georgetown
  20. Penn State with a nice win over Maryland tonight. Sorry Statefan.
  21. Funny, our two best conference wins have been on the road.
  22. Love watching Fruscio on the sidelines. #onemanbenchmob
  23. Maybe but I think there are other factors also. One of them is driving the ball into two or three defenders and still trying to get a shot off and getting it blocked. Woodhouse did a really good job getting his team into the offense, getting guys the ball in a position where they could something with it, and creating something when he needed to. A lot of the things we don't do, especially when the pressure ramps up. We tend to get tunnel vision on offense. It's not really that unexpected. One of the issues with this team is our most experienced players: Stire, Charles, Mike and Dallas, aren't guys that have the ball in their hands a lot of the time and aren't the ones making decisions. This team is a lot like the 04-05 team. A lot of talent but without the experience to put it all together consistently. That said, we were picked third and we're still alive for that spot - at least until about 9 PM tonight.
  24. We are beating the bottom half of the conference on talent and losing to the top half by being out-smarted and out-toughed. A little of both tonight. Having seen the crowd numbers but it seems pretty good. When CB was a young coach, I thought the older, established coaches got the good whistles by the refs. Now that he's older, I don't know what's going on. Some of it is perception, I guess but there have been some Twilight Zone like games this year with the officiating. Tough night for Nichols. SB did a nice job taking him out of his game and in fairness, we ask a lot of Nichols. He could learn a lot by watching Woodhouse who did a terrific job of managing the game. I understand how frustrating this game was, and how bad the calls seemed to be, but I'd really like to our guys STOP complaining to the officials. Just play and don't caught up in it. Godanes99 pointed it out, Devonte Campbell seems to be getting better and better each game.
  25. There is no chance anything will ever top this in my life from a sporting even standpoint. I lost my mind...legit almost blacked out from screaming. It is as good as it gets. Until we make a run in the NCAAs...
