  1. Classes don't start till the end of August (21st I believe for me)...unless you're referring to summer classes which are indeed in session. These guys all come in for summer classes so that the workload isn't so heavy during the rest of the year. Classes started this week for the first session I believe or it is second...I know because I had a class start this week. Agreed. Except for Hooley maybe. I think he'll be in China for a few weeks with the Australian National team. It sounds like Joe Cremo is getting ready on his own: http://www.cbs6albany.com/sports/features/sports/stories/scotias-joe-cremo-gets-ready-ualbany-3222.shtml
  2. I'm guessing our recruiting for this class is done but there's been no official announcement?
  3. Sounds like we'll be hosting both the women's and men's game at Sefcu that year. The women's game should be separate and held on campus as far as I'm concerned, especially the year that it's part of the tournament. Otherwise, I'll take a year where it's in their season ticket package, a year where it's in ours and a year where it's in neither.
  4. Looks like it was #2. DaShawn Robinson..originally committed to UAlbany..signed with Louisiana Tech. That seems to put us at 13 scholarships. I wonder who changed their mind. Robinson is from Texas so LA Tech is much closer. They're also Conference USA and won 27 games last year. Granted Conference USA isn't what it used to be but it's still solid. Do you mean whether it was the player or CB? I guess. He landed in a pretty good spot for him. I wonder if he changed his mind.

  6. Closer to family. The purplefam! It'll be interesting to watch how things change.
  7. Bing vs Mich. State? Is that a joke? That's like UAlbany playing the Golden State Warriors (my pick to win the NBA Championship). They will lose by 200. They won 6 games last year and shot only 40% doing it. Oy vey. I'm all for gaining experience, but only if you can keep the game within 20-25. I'm sure that's what many thought about NJIT going into the game last year...you play the game, whatever happens happens. Where's the fun in beating up a loser team and not challenge yourself? We're the creme del a creme of the AE right now. If we lose to Kentucky by 30, what do you think Bing will be able to do against Michigan State. Like I said, I'm all for playing a top ranked team and losing by 20-30 towards the end while keeping it around 10 for most of the games like we usually seem to do...but Bing can't even compete with us (we beat them by almost 20 both times last season), how are they even remotely going to keep it close for even one half against MSU. I just don't understand why you'd put your kids through that. They'd be better of playing someone like a Rutgers or St. Johns or something. It's the nature of funding your program really. Bing probably has 75,000 good reasons or more to schedule Michigan State. They have the home and home with Buffalo. That's the game I'd like on our schedule.
  8. That's a pretty good deal as far as I'm concerned. A win for Benson, Coach Brown and us.
  9. Good story today in one of the CT papers about former defenseman Mike Banks and how he's working with kids from his former high school .
  10. Peter Hooley has been selected to represent Australia in China this summer. He'll have some pretty good company with teammates from Baylor, Boise State and Louisville. http://www.basketball.net.au/australian-mens-world-university-games-squad-announced/
  11. No offense to Dr. Jones but this spring Peter Hooley has been the president of UAlbany.
  12. Virginia and NC baseball, ;please hurry the hell up would ya?
  13. I'd almost guess Twyman got a waiver. I'm amazed that a couple of guys who didn't get much playing time last year were able to get scholarships at other D1 schools. Probably a testament to the quality of players on our roster.
  14. We got a shot in this one. Kentucky loses a lot of their best players this year. I'm glad we found someone who isn't afraid to play us.
  15. I like the Andrews commitment also. Good schools looking at him and a really skilled player. Quote from the Bowling Green coach when he signed: "Jamir Andrews can really score the basketball while possessing great vertical athleticism. He is body ready and is wired to score. We will lose some significant scoring with our seniors departing and we expect Jamir to fill some of that void," continued Jans. "I love the demeanor and maturity Jamir will bring with him as well."
  16. Max Twyman is transferring to Hartford. A little surprised he'd go intra-conference.
  17. He had signed with Bowling Green before their coaching change. We were one of his finalists before losing out to them.
  18. Have put both their men's and women's basketball teams in the NCAA tournament and also put their men's and women's lacrosse teams in the NCAA tournament. There can't be many.
  19. He shot 44% from three this season. That's a pretty good skill combination. One of the things I liked about our backcourt is Sanders, Hooley and Singletary can all shoot from outside and put the ball on the floor and get to the rim. Cremo can hopefully do the same and it looks like Robinson can as well.
  20. Did I miss the Cooper commitment? This is the first I've seen it. I thought our incoming class is: Cremo, McKinley, Brown, Robinson and Charles. I'm not sure how anyone could have watched Evan Singletary and Ray Sanders play this year and be unhappy with Juco players. The culture of the program is established by the four year guys. I don't know if there's a "magic number" for the amount of four year players vs. juco players but if there are more guys like Singletary and Sanders out there I say bring them in.
  21. Kaputo commited to St. Bonaventure the other day.
  22. A little more on the transfer. Best of luck to him at his new place where he'll be hooking up with a former high school teammate.
