Fumbled on his first carry..leading to a Spider score. Ahh, missed it. Weird that he's not on the ESPN boxscore as having a carry and the announcers mentioned they hadn't seen him. Surprised they yanked him for one mistake and haven't put him back in...weird. Oh well Hanks has done a great job with 190+ yards. On the radio they talked about Croskey getting worn down. Plus, I guess when E.I.H is lighting it up you stick with him. He could over 200 yards.

I can't ever remember you getting upset. I guess I'll have to take your word for it. Sorry to see Brown go, I liked what I saw of him during the P+G game. I wonder if this changes the plan for McKinley. He seemed like a guy who might be a redshirt candidate before but maybe that's not as much of an option now.

That's OK. I heard those shoes only last a year and can't be worn in classrooms.

I guess I was more impressed with Vermont last year than most people. Going into the season they'd lost that big senior class w/ Voelkl, Rugg, Carissimo, etc - 5 of their 6 leading scorers. They still went out and were #2 in the conference, swept Stony Brook, and had the #1 offense and #1 defense in the AE and they bring most of that back this year.

Meet & Greet Oct 16th / P&G Scrimmage Oct 17th
Dane Pound replied to MRSGDG's topic in Winter Sports-Danes Hoops, Track
I'm not sure how this devolved into a thread about Stony Brook. As good as Warney is, in close games it's tough for them to go to him because his free throw shooting is a liability (just over 50%.) It's one of the understated things we've had with our big guys the past couple of years. In almost all of the championship runs one or more of our bigs have knocked down huge free throws towards the end of the game - Puk in Vermont, All of them at Stony Brook, and Mike Rowley's in last year's championship game just before Hooley's three. I don't see Stony Brook or anyone running away with things this year. Last year Stony Brook was 1-1 against New Hampshire, 1-1 against Albany and 0-2 against Vermont. The conference is going to be tough and fun to watch this year. I'm not sure why more people aren't picking Vermont to be honest. -
Travis Charles

That's good to hear. It's sounded like CB has liked what he's seen from Charles so far, calling him one of the better offensive post players. -

At last year's scrimmage I remember seeing a couple of our guards and thinking they were a notch below the rest of the group. I didn't really get that same impression this year. The freshman will struggle this year at times but you can tell the talent level has risen. The guy I liked that no one really talked about is Greg Stire. He's not fancy but he does the dirty work and is probably the only one of our post guys who plays with an edge -

One of the surprising things was the Gold team winning. Not just winning but winning pretty big. I thought the purple team had it in the bag with Evan Singletary and Peter Hooley plus Dallas and Richard Peters and the jucos. The gold team was Ray Sanders, Mike Rowley, Greg Stire and all three freshman and they won by 10. Of course, the Gold team did have Don Bassett on their sideline. -

Terrific event as usual. Actually, better than usual I really liked having it at the SEFCU. I'm guessing they did it because there were too many people for the HOF room which is a great sign for the program. -
Kentucky was picked #1 in the preseason poll yesterday. Luckily they only have one Aussie on their roster, Issac Humphries, to our two Aussies.

Trying to manage expectations about Cremo but stories like this aren't helping. http://news10.com/2015/10/13/ualbany-freshman-easily-transitioning-to-college-bball/

2015-16 Albany America East Preview
Dane Pound replied to ZLK's topic in Winter Sports-Danes Hoops, Track
Speaking of Singletary, a story on him and why CB thinks he can be the AE POY. -
I think we all knew we were going to struggle sometimes this year. The lousy part is that last two weeks didn't even really qualify as struggling. The lousier part is, except for JMU, the league really isn't very strong overall. Last year's Albany team might have been able to steal another win or two against this year's CAA. I wish our bye week was this week instead of next. This team needs a week to get some coaching, install a few new things and then get back to it.

Stadium Named
Dane Pound replied to UAFAN's topic in Fall Sports-Football, Soccer, Volleyball, Cross-Country, Field Hockey
I have no clue but this has been one of the more entertaining threads we've had in a while. By the way, I think Billy Fuccillo played football for Syracuse. I can't imagine him associating with us. Plus, that sign his waaay too small for him. It wouldn't be a sign anyway for Fuccillo, it would just be his face up on the stadium. -

A perfect storm this week for this debacle. Hopefully we'll bounce back next week. -

Best of luck to Coach O'Donnell in his new role. I always considered him the "nice guy" of our staff but now I'm remembering he's the one who went toe-to-toe with Broadhus after that one Bing game. I agree with Phoenix about having a good group of applicants. It sounds like Coach Iati has been involved with recruiting, his name has come up with the recruitment of several of the juco players. We have a pretty young staff now made up of former players.
