  1. The thing that surprised me last year was how good Ray Sanders and Evan Singletary were right from the start of the season. If two of this year's Juco recruits mesh that quickly it's going to be a fun year. Who am I kidding? it's going to be a fun year anyway. In the backcourt it seems like the battle might be to be the first guy off the bench. The frontcourt looks much wider open. There are a lot of minutes there that could fall to anyone.
  2. You can't pick against Jamar because no one can stop Jamar. I honestly though the 06-07 might have been the tougher team even though they didn't win the regular season. The conference was much better that year and Vermont was really good.
  3. Oneonta is where Coach Bassett got his start. It can't all be bad. Maybe we could have some fun with this game. Bring back those old jerseys that said "State" on them and have a 70's night. Have Time Warner broadcast it in black and white and have some of the alumni doing "The Hustle" at halftime.
  4. Not a bad situation for Cremo coming in. No pressure this year with senior guards to learn from and wide open minutes next year. Based on who recruited him, I have high hopes for Jamir Andrews as well. Almost wonder if Dallas doesn't get some minutes at the "4" considering the backcourt depth. His shooting would really open things up.
  5. The CDBA schedule got a little ragtag at the end but Cremo and Team Bye ended up winning the championship last night.
  6. San Diego's first preseason game is tonight against Dallas. Parker is listed as the 5th TE on the depth chart.
  7. Eventually Northern Kentucky will have to run out of scholarships.
  8. Oneonta released their schedule a couple of weeks ago and we weren't on it. I wonder if someone dropped a game on us and Oneonta was the replacement. This is CB's first non-D1 game in 14 years so I'm not that upset about it. We would either be complaining about not having enough home games or having the Oneonta game. We've already lost to a D3 team as a D1 when Scott Beeten was coaching. We lost to a Mike Lonergan coached Catholic team in a tournament during the early years. Aside from the Oneonta game the rest of the schedule isn't bad. There are a lot of winnable games against decent opponents. Have we played both of the "St. Francis" teams before?
  9. Monroe is off the board to Yale. Guess he wanted to play for a UAlbany alum..just not AT UAlbany. I would have liked him to come to Albany but I can understand that choice.
  10. A poster on the Holy Cross forum says we'll be in Woo on Dec. 5. No time yet. We have Yale at home on November 29. So it looks like so far: UA at Kentucky 11/13 UA at Boston University 11/16 UA at South Florida 11/24 UA home against NJIT 11/27 UA home against Yale 11/29 UA at Holy Cross 12/5 UA at Marist 12/9 UA at Siena 12/12
  11. I'm not sure who we can get out of these lists but we're recruiting in a much nicer neighborhood. A lot of guys with MAC and Horizon League offers. Eric Monroe who Phoenix mentioned is a three star recruit who might be on one of the better high school teams in the country next year. I'm not sure how you convince him to come to Albany from San Diego but that's another story.
  12. That might have been the nicest things you ever said about Will Fiacchi. RB is the big hole I see. When Drew Smith was a senior we all kind of knew Omar was going to be able to carry some of that load after he left. I haven't had that same feeling about anyone yet. Hopefully there's a nice surprise out there.
  13. I wasn't clear on how he had a year left but maybe he got a waiver or something? In any event, good for him. I hope he has a good year down there.
  14. Ede Egharevba is now at NC AT+T as a grad student transfer. GREENSBORO – North Carolina A&T men’s basketball coach announced the completion of his recruiting class Tuesday. Aggie fans will be introduced to four new players next season including two Division I graduate transfers, a junior college transfer and one true freshman. The Aggies class includes Ede Egharevba (6-6, 210, Queens, N.Y., Albany University), Joshea Singleton (6-4, 211, Kinston, N.C., Bucknell University), Mike Owona (6-9, 250, Bel Air, Md., Northwest Kansas Technical College) and Deion James (6-8, 205, Tucson, Ariz., Empire). “Ede is a highly-intelligent young man who graduated college in three years,” said Alexander. “We’re looking for him to be a double-digit scorer and a fierce defender because of his length on the wings. He brings a lot to the table including maturity in the locker room.” Over a two-year period, Egharevba played in 18 games with one start for the Great Danes. He initially singed with Wichita State out of Evelyn Mack Academy (N.C.). He took a redshirt season before transferring to Midland where he averaged 5.9 points and 3.2 rebounds before transferring to Albany. He was a 2010 All-New York City performer out of Edison High School, and was the leading scorer at Mack Academy in 2011.
  15. True. Who knows how things would have went. I thought he bought in a lot more at the end of his year here and hoped that would carry over.
  16. I guess I'd been looking at that as a given. Good player but in a tough spot for minutes.
  17. No real surprises other than Travis Charles is listed as a guard. I thought he was a post player. http://www.ualbanysports.com/SportSelect.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=15800&SPID=7999&SPSID=70290
  18. Peter wrote about his time at the games - http://www.ualbanysports.com//ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=15800&ATCLID=210232492 I'm not crazy about the thought of him dodging traffic on the back of a motorcycle in China somehwere but I'm sure it was a great experience.
  19. Or like Peter Hooley :> It's occured to me many times what we would have had in 2013-13 had Suero stayed. We won 24 games that year without him and Aronhalt. Water under the bridge, I guess.
  20. If I remember correctly we were looking at Tavares when he was in high school. His Juco shooting numbers are really good and he has great size for a guard. He was one of the leading scorers on that Monroe team that had a bunch of players going to D1.
  21. Going from the box scores he would need to take minutes away from either Hugh Greenwood or Mitchell Creek and that's a tough road. Greenwood just finished a really nice career at New Mexico and Creek has been playing professionally for a couple of years. It should be a great experience for him and playing against and practicing against high quality players will certainly help.
  22. I saw today that Joe Cremo and Greg Stire will be playing summer league games at Hudson Valley on Monday and Thursday nights. They'll be playing with James Thomas, Zach Bye, Talor Battle, the Huerter Brothers and some current and past St. Rose and Siena players. A good chance for our guys to get better - http://www.cdbasketball.com/news/15/
  23. Shane Sweeney is out of the QB competition. He's transferring to Hobart - http://www.fltimes.com/sports/article_961a522a-20c1-11e5-8cca-b3bd8dd59e60.html
  24. Seems like a good student with some decent other offers. No real pressure on him next year with our guards coming back. Nichols plays in the same Catholic League in Chicago where Mike Black played. Tough level of competition.
