Saw this in the comment section for the article in Philly.com. Anyone at the game (or previous games) ever get this impression? "Gattuso's behavior on the field was less than exemplary for a guy who publicly criticized the conduct of a fellow coach. He has a short fuse and appeared to be yelling too often at his staff and players. The image of a bully came to mind far more than a coach who is worthy of praise for an otherwise excellent state university."

ha- awesome! As is the father's reaction. I'd like to ask the kid which experience/marketing techniques worked to make him feel this way.

Also--while we haven't beaten a good team, we're still getting the job done against bad teams. And with a brand new coaching system. If we'd barely beaten CCSU or URI, I'd say a 24 rank was false praise. But our players are doing their job. Hopefully they'll see 24 and now be hungry for way more than that.

We may not have the prestige, but the team names for the FCS Top 25 are way cooler than the FBS teams: Chanticleers, Jackrabbits, Salukis, Lumberjacks, Mocs, Paladins, Penguins, Tribe, Spiders...and, of course, Great Danes...

Is this the highest-ever Div I national ranking for a women's team?

For 2015, we're no. 126--up 2 spots from last year. Buffalo is 103. SBU and Bing are tied at 88. NY State can do better than this...

US News releases their 2015 Best Colleges list tomorrow. Anyone suspect we'll go up or down? Hopefully the Nano loss won't hurt us too much over time. Would be nice to someday crack the top 100, but at 128 last year, it's not going to be easy unless there are some bold moves and new funding sources. Those are working well for Stony Brook.

Argh! There should be posters up everywhere! LC's, quads, etc. Flyers work. If my high school could do this, why not UA??

Agreed. The more you consider this, the more it seems he has the right combination of hunger and loyalty. He talked about his wife and 3 kids as if he wants to plants roots in Albany and even more than at ODU, he can really put his stamp on every step of progress he might make. side note: of course the ODU local article calls us University OF Albany.

The best indicator is the serif font on the pennant. Unless, of course, that script was used by other schools back then.

that's a shame. I'm occasionally on Long Island near Stony Brook and I usually see a decent amount of outreach by the Seawolves.

Was at the game. Atmosphere was amazing. Albany played amazing for 90-plus percent. While the end was a heartbreaker, the thousands of little kids cheering UAlbany makes me think it was all somehow a win, regardless of score. But it was a tough tough loss. Next year.

10 new faculty is a lot. It's not enough for a whole new school, but engineering would be huge at Albany. It drives up your recent grad start salary numbers and can bring lots of entrepreneurship to the state capital. Sound like a win if there's something to this.

Eh, they're not even worth the negativity. We'll just settle for all the massively pro-Dane articles in smaller publications like ESPN, CBS Sports, Yahoo sports, etc.
