  1. If this is the case, good. I've been saying for some time that it feels like DK needs to become more boss head coach and less friend assistant coach. This is a good start. It's good for Reddish and DK.
  2. Played better than I thought they would, especially considering 6 players player 99% of the minutes with Kellogg getting a few moments in the first half. Any idea why Ketner stopped getting any time at all? He seemed like he was starting to show some stuff then all of a sudden out of the rotation. Not gonna win many games with 6 players.
  3. Game tied halfway through the third. Been watching the men on TV, but I'm surprised at these results so far. Hopefully the team gets going and pulls it out.
  4. Surprised UA is still in the game, only down 8 at the half. Bryant shooting lights out. Normally I'd say that's a result of the continued defense this UA squad has shown all year, but they played some strong D in the last 6-8 minutes of the half. Beagle is still a monster. UA still shorthanded, no update that I've heard in why Reddish is out. Edmead not back yet either. This team showing some life like they might be able to compete in the AE with a full squad.
  5. Certainly looks that way at the start of this game. I missed the beginning, but I heard them mention no Reddish tonight?
  6. I think you can edit it yourself now, but not sure. Might need to be a mod to change the title. This is the thread for Bryant though, not UML
  7. I haven't seen anyone mention it anywhere yet, but what happened to Edmead? I am guessing he got hurt in that fall a few games ago, but I haven't seen any chatter about it. He was just starting to hit his stride, is extremely quick, and I thought he would do well against AE opponents.
  8. So happy they finally put a game together. They've shown the ability to do so for stretches, but to play well from start to finish hasn't happened yet. Hopefully they can use this as a turning point for the year. No undefeated teams in conference already after only 3 games.
  9. Crazy day in the AE for sure. Black is white, up is down, $&it doesn't stink, and every underdog won in today's games.
  10. Haven't been able to watch and wasn't able to go today because of family commitments, but I'm sad I am missing them playing well. Still waiting for the 5-10 minutes of nothing now that I am able to watch the rest, but as I've said all season: This team can play with every team they have played against so far minus the inevitable scoring drought. Glad to see them doing well today.
  11. The bottom 3 teams in the AE defensively are UMBC, UA, then Bing (before tonight's games) but UMBC has the best offense (analytically so far). I'm afraid that our players won't have a chance to lose a first round playoff game this year. Maybe we can beat Vermont with the last game of the year so we can be one of the only teams in the country that end their season on a win.
  12. Now that all the games from the weekend are counted, barttorvick now has UA as the bottom of the league. For clarification, they show non-D1 games for the win loss record, but only include D1 games in the analytics and results. I have found this site is the best "free" site that does all the fun analytics to compare teams. UA currently rated #349 of 363 D1 Schools (including Hartford that is still D1 this season)
  13. Also they don't count the D3 in team ratings and analytics. They only show the official record which includes what the includes, but analytics ignore D3.
  14. Still trying to figure out how the team can look worse against New Hampshire than they did against Virginia. Is it possible the team just didn't get up for the game as the follow up to an ACC game?
  15. Ladies are playing awesome. Caught part of the game on ESPN. Impressed with how they execute.
  16. I deleted my post where I spoke about the teams talent but lack of leadership and what I perceive as DKs coaching style (hint: I think he is too nice and not a HC) and how he needs to evolve from assistant to HC, but I think this image speaks volumes and shows why even the most die hards of us are getting ready to throw in the towel. The HVCC gym will probably be way too big for the amount of fans for the upcoming home games. Ladies and gentlemen, I present the very bottom worst teams in all of D1:
  17. Nevermind. Wrote about what I thought the problem and solution was, why I'm close to giving up, while trying to remain positive. Part of my New Years resolution will be to limit my posts commenting on things I'm not qualified to comment on. Happy New Years #purplefam May your 2023 be full of W's in whatever you do.
  18. Incredible analogy. Basically what I was just telling my wife and kid in the car ride home spoken perfectly.
  19. Decent crowd to watch this embarrassment. I think my purple and gold glasses might have finally broken on the year. Missing Edmead badly this game.
  20. Terrible defense plus terrible offense equals losing to a team that isn't good.
  21. Statistically, the Virginia game was the second best defensive effort of the year, and they aren't a bad offensive team. They lost badly because it was also one of the worst offensive performances of the year. If they can keep the same defensive mindset, I think they will be able to get better shots with less fadeaways and shots floating to the left or right and make a higher percentage against an AE defense instead of the Virginia stifling defense. I feel like the team has a solid chance to start league play with a W at home, but the start of conference schedule is going to be real tough with UMBC, UML, and Bryant to follow. Prediction: team starts league play 1-0, drops to 1-3, then goes on a small run to get to 4-3 before hitting the hardest part of the schedule (UML, UVM, Bryant) at the start of February.
  22. Talking about this game with my son, we talked about the shots the team was taking. It looked like a lot of the threes were fading away or drifting. The more set shots or ones with motion towards the basket were going in at a decent clip, but the ones unbalanced were close to zero. Hopefully come conference play the team plays more confident and direct against the AE level defense.
  23. Watching him play it appears he has lost all his confidence or maybe got his hand slapped too many times for the technicals and trash talk and now he just isn't playing like himself. Maybe he gave up, who knows. All I know is that when he is aggressive he can do things physically that others on the team can't. Explosive dunks on drives. He is still over 35% from three so he can shoot. He looks tentative and afraid to try to do anything when he gets a touch.
  24. Honestly, I leave this game actually feeling more positive about the teams chances in the AE than I was before. This team won't face another team anywhere close to this intense defensively for the rest of the year. The best offensive team in the AE isnt nearly as good as Virgina offensively either. They played pretty solid defense and did get a lot of decent looks that would have been wide open against any AE team.
  25. Don't think that's all the defense's fault..it's still a low scoring game. Scoring 4 points as a team in the first 12 minutes of the second half causes that. Edit: 4 points in the last 5:15 of the first half AND the first 11:24 of the second half - COMBINED. That's 4 points in almost 17 minutes of play. From up 2 to down 24 in that stretch.
