  1. I've tried to remain positive on this team, but I feel this season is over. Probably going to end up not even getting a playoff game as the bottom team in the league. Yes injuries have derailed the team, and yes they would be better with Little, Amica, and Neely playing everyday, but I'm not convinced that would be enough to pull them up to the top 4. Maybe make the team the 6-8 seed instead of the 9? Embarrassing what has happened to this once proud program. Maybe the team and program got stale after Cremo and Nichols transferred out for their grad seasons, but UA hasn't been below the 6 seed in the league since the 09-10 season and was in the top 4 more often than not under WB. In the Division 1 era the team finished last place only twice. (03-04 / year 3 in D1, and the aforementioned 09-10 season). Just disgusting. I don't understand the results, because while many are bashing the ability and D1 readiness of many of the players, I see more than enough talent. Just poor basketball IQ, poor defensive effort, and poor execution. Inability to square up on a shot, everything is fading or drifting. Just terrible basketball.
  2. As someone else mentioned ... the case says no visible evidence of assault. This is why I do not believe that he was hit so hard it drew blood. I have posted many times here that while I agree that a coach should not "assault" a player. I am not against all physical contact between coaches and players. If they were playing a scrimmage with coaches and assistants vs the players for fun and a player got hurt because he was boxed out or was knocked over during an offensive charge - would that be an assault? The team had won exactly 0 games before the game in question. A team that clearly had athleticism and talent was playing soft and lazy. The coach had to do something to fire up his team. According to the official story that I have read/heard: it was in the pregame talk in the locker room and he was challenging his players. He was telling them they needed to play angry. He was getting in their face and being the bad guy to get their adrenaline up. He was screaming. In this "pep" talk he shoved Luke (and probably other players as well) in order to get them to play mad. Apparently when he shoved Luke, he hit the locker. The team won that game for their first win of the season. Luke played 4 minutes in that game, but did not get any stats that would enter the scorebook. Maybe shoving the players was inappropriate, but based on the official story, it does not sound like assault. In fact, it doesn't even seem like anything that I would be angry about. Maybe he should have yelled and then utilized one of the captains to do the shoving to get each other fired up instead of doing it himself, but I see absolutely nothing wrong with this at all. These are adults that are going to battle together and should be able to take a little pushing and shoving. Unless Luke was actually hurt in the altercation, I don't even see anything that the coach/team should have reported. It was part of a closed door team meeting. Luke wasn't really hurt because he played 4 minutes in the game. This should be a non-issue. Luke didn't report the incident himself or have any complaints until he learned he wasn't going to get a scholarship for the following season. Actually recruiting for the following year hadn't even started yet, so he still could have gotten a scholarship, but it wasn't a guarantee. So you don't have to "understand my stance" because we are all entitled to our opinions. My stance could be 100% wrong and is fluid. As more and more details of what actually happened come into the public light, I could change my opinion. Maybe coach singled him out and actually assaulted him and the official story is a lie. I don't know. What I do know, is that the way the official story has been explained to me, this feels like a spoiled kid not getting his way and now being out for a payday because he didn't collect his trophy for showing up. Should DK be fired? Maybe, but IMHO the reasons for dismissal are not this lawsuit - it would be for failure to coach what seems like an extremely talented team well enough for them to be competitive in the America East.
  3. I'm still of the opinion, that if it happened they way I understand that it happened, DK has nothing to show remorse for or to apologize further for. Wish there was a way to know what really happened. Like players that witnessed it telling their side of the story. Will witnesses be called to testify? This would go a long way to helping me form a better informed opinion
  4. This statement is CYA for the university. If the Kentucky case goes to trial or is settled with a plea bargain, I'm sure that the school can say that info came out during discovery that wasn't exactly what they were told during their internal investigation and this new info is cause for dismissal. Either way, I'm sure there will be press at the arraignment, and if I were the university, I'd be preparing for a major $h|t storm of international press with a Division 1 coach potentially standing trial for the "assault" of a player.
  5. I've still not heard anything real about what happened with Reddish. The only hints I have seen were in the Gazette with the quote: Killings said the 6-foot-8 wing failed to meet “certain program standards.” I wonder what those standards are? Showing up to practice on time? Grades? Something else? If he is hurting the team with attitude and other issues, I am fine with saying good bye and I applaud Killings for taking a stand, but thats a pretty big blow to any chances the team has for the rest of the season if he doesn't come back. Would be a shame for his future as well, as while he is athletic enough to play at a higher level, I am not sure if he is skilled enough yet, and I am not sure who would offer him as a transfer with his up and down performance and getting in trouble for not meetings standards. Guess we just have to hope that it is a passing thing that coaching can solve.
  6. Maine impressed me when I saw them. We probably won't win against anyone much less them if only 7 continue to dress for games.
  7. Only dressed 7. Hutch's back isn't good. No reason given for Reddish still being out. I thought Edmead was supposed to be back for this one. Drumgoole just slipped and came up lame. Jackson is fouled out. If Drumgoole goes out there will be zero dressed players on the bench.
  8. That's why we all post on a message board. To share or thoughts and feelings and root for our team. Opinions are like aholes. We all have em... I'm guilty. I think he does have the skills, experience, and connections to do an amazing job. It just takes time to evolve. I always said it takes 3 to 4 years to "get it" and that's why I've tried to be the voice of positivity in a difficult season. Anyway, we are all entitled to our opinions and I love reading everyone's.
  9. LOL. I think I deleted my post a few weeks ago where I posted my diagnosis / thoughts on the team, and what I thought they needed to improve. To me it felt like DK hadn't made the internal transition from Assistant Coach to Head Coach yet. The Boss comment was complimenting the decision if it was in fact disciplinary. Reddish was playing well of late. Had a big game against UML. Gotta be hard to bench someone when playing against the team many think will win the league and there is pressure to win now and turn the season around. Again, I could be way off base and its all conjecture, but I was calling it as I saw it. Edited the comment to remove some of the detail because, again, it's all just feelings and conjecture and based on nothing real. I'm really failing at my new years resolution to limit posts on subjects I don't know what I'm talking about and sharing guesses/theories. LOL
  10. If this is the case, good. I've been saying for some time that it feels like DK needs to become more boss head coach and less friend assistant coach. This is a good start. It's good for Reddish and DK.
  11. Played better than I thought they would, especially considering 6 players player 99% of the minutes with Kellogg getting a few moments in the first half. Any idea why Ketner stopped getting any time at all? He seemed like he was starting to show some stuff then all of a sudden out of the rotation. Not gonna win many games with 6 players.
  12. Game tied halfway through the third. Been watching the men on TV, but I'm surprised at these results so far. Hopefully the team gets going and pulls it out.
  13. Surprised UA is still in the game, only down 8 at the half. Bryant shooting lights out. Normally I'd say that's a result of the continued defense this UA squad has shown all year, but they played some strong D in the last 6-8 minutes of the half. Beagle is still a monster. UA still shorthanded, no update that I've heard in why Reddish is out. Edmead not back yet either. This team showing some life like they might be able to compete in the AE with a full squad.
  14. Certainly looks that way at the start of this game. I missed the beginning, but I heard them mention no Reddish tonight?
  15. I think you can edit it yourself now, but not sure. Might need to be a mod to change the title. This is the thread for Bryant though, not UML
  16. I haven't seen anyone mention it anywhere yet, but what happened to Edmead? I am guessing he got hurt in that fall a few games ago, but I haven't seen any chatter about it. He was just starting to hit his stride, is extremely quick, and I thought he would do well against AE opponents.
  17. So happy they finally put a game together. They've shown the ability to do so for stretches, but to play well from start to finish hasn't happened yet. Hopefully they can use this as a turning point for the year. No undefeated teams in conference already after only 3 games.
  18. Crazy day in the AE for sure. Black is white, up is down, $&it doesn't stink, and every underdog won in today's games.
  19. Haven't been able to watch and wasn't able to go today because of family commitments, but I'm sad I am missing them playing well. Still waiting for the 5-10 minutes of nothing now that I am able to watch the rest, but as I've said all season: This team can play with every team they have played against so far minus the inevitable scoring drought. Glad to see them doing well today.
  20. The bottom 3 teams in the AE defensively are UMBC, UA, then Bing (before tonight's games) but UMBC has the best offense (analytically so far). I'm afraid that our players won't have a chance to lose a first round playoff game this year. Maybe we can beat Vermont with the last game of the year so we can be one of the only teams in the country that end their season on a win.
  21. Now that all the games from the weekend are counted, barttorvick now has UA as the bottom of the league. For clarification, they show non-D1 games for the win loss record, but only include D1 games in the analytics and results. I have found this site is the best "free" site that does all the fun analytics to compare teams. UA currently rated #349 of 363 D1 Schools (including Hartford that is still D1 this season)
  22. Also they don't count the D3 in team ratings and analytics. They only show the official record which includes what the includes, but analytics ignore D3.
  23. Still trying to figure out how the team can look worse against New Hampshire than they did against Virginia. Is it possible the team just didn't get up for the game as the follow up to an ACC game?
  24. Ladies are playing awesome. Caught part of the game on ESPN. Impressed with how they execute.
