  1. SBU to the CAA is not yet confirmed, but it looks like it will happen (makes no sense to me, but it is what it is). I like the AE with 9 teams and a 16 game basketball schedule - gave more OOC game possibilities. 8 teams isn't enough. The league will need to add another, and my bet would be CCSU. If SBU does in fact move to the CAA and UA stays in the AE - I'd love to see an annual SUNY Basketball Challenge. 4 Team event with UA, Bing, SBU, and Buffalo. Rotate Host Cities. Double Header on Friday night for the first round, then double header on a Sunday with a championship and and a consolation game. Make sure that UA and Bing do not square off against each other in round 1 to minimize the chances of playing a league foe in a non-league game. Give out the SUNY Cup each year!
  2. Team down 4 projected contributors for the season, and 2 more for a couple games and ends up winning convincingly against one of the better teams in the league so far this season. I take that as a positive.
  3. Been watching on TV. Couldn't make it today. Great effort being short handed.
  4. Install the duck duck go browser. You can burn your history and reset the article count. Boom, all the articles you can read and no paywall issue.
  5. Looks like this could be the start of a home and home, with a neutral to start it off to appease the LCC blue heads
  6. Any updates on Drumgoole? Highly recruited and came from an ACC squad. Thought he would be a significant contributor this year. Last I heard he was going to be back around the start of conference play. No Cerruti or hutch really hurts as they are the two best outside shooters on the team and very good defensively. I feel like team would be 2-0 in conference with these two in the lineup
  7. Interesting. I see ESPN has it marked as postponed, but I see nothing on Twitter for UA or UVM, and no one mentioning it on the AE board. I believe it's cancelled, but it's strange I don't see it confirmed anywhere but on ESPN.com
  8. LOL, I did follow up with a comment that said I would never actually do that. It was more making a point that I think I took too far. Emotions are hard to control sometimes!
  9. Anyone have any inside info on if this game will happen or not? I'm so excited for the start of the conference season. Not sure if starting against UVM at UVM is a good way to start conference play, or a terrible scheduling draw. Id assume that Killings will run the team a little differently during Conference play, and potentially surprising UVM without much history of what to expect from the team could be an advantage, but I'd also like to think that the team will continue to improve throughout the year and we may have a better chance later in the year as the team gels. Getting confidence and practice against the easier teams early might have been nice after an ultra hard OOC.
  10. What is really needed for the board to return to civility and activity is wins. When the teams are winning, the conversation is more fun. When we are getting our asses handed to us, the board armchair quarterbacks and disagreements happen. A great start to 2022 would be a win over UVM (if the game happens). It will go a long way towards peace on the board!
  11. Lol, id never sponsor LCC, but it does feel like a better investment at the moment.
  12. I've stayed out of the football forum since the middle of this disaster of a season. I hate to give up my spot in the stadium because I absolutely love my seats, but you can count me as one of the people who will not renew his tickets, and will no longer advocate his company for any sponsorship dollars, at least on the football side. I'd rather sponsor LCC at this moment.
  13. I feel for you Eli. I was looking forward to hearing your triumphant return as the loudest in the gym.
  14. While I agree with you, rules are rules in this messed up world we are living in today. I wonder if Bucknell found out before they left home. Would suck for them to travel and not play.
  15. Understood, and I'm still in the camp of I like the direction he is going in. I had too high expectations for year 1, but frankly I do not want to make any concessions in expectations till we still what conference play looks like.
  16. Gotta repeat myself from earlier threads. I do love the defensive intensity from this team. They force turnovers, switch well, and put great pressure on the ball, but something needs to change on offense. Killings spent the summer talking about playing fast and pushing a higher octane type pace. Maybe it's the make up of the team not being able to play at the high pace he wanted to, so he had to adjust? Right now it looks like we are back to the Will Brown type grind it out style? I'm ok with that as strong defense can keep you in almost every game, and if we don't have the players that can put it in the hole then it's probably the best strategy. The higher scoring higher paced teams seem to attract more casual fans and pack the arena better, but winning ugly can do that as well. Losing ugly low scoring games kills attendance.
  17. Thanks for the answers guys. I grew up in Potsdam and my Mom was a professor at SUNY Canton, but she retired in 97 and I left upstate to move to Albany a few years before that. Never paid attention to the schools there. I remember the "ATC" days....
  18. I don't know if it changed, but isn't SUNY Canton still a 2 year school / Juco type program? Of all the non D1 SUNY teams to play they could have scheduled HVCC or Sage or something... Why Canton?
  19. I saw it on twitter - definitely was memorable and a great moment. Hopefully it is a great event for the team to build on, continue to grow, and spring them into a streak. Doesn't mean we don't look at the stats and look at what needs to improve. While the goal for this year is growth and improvement, and the final record doesn't really matter - we still have the goal of winning the conference and dancing. To do that we need to know what needs to be improved and then find ways to improve those things.
  20. In a previous thread someone yelled at me for pointing out the analytics after only 5 games. My response was that I would do that after 10, 15, and 20 games if I remember. After last nights big win and the team now being 3-7: here are some interesting items from the barttorvik analytics site: UA now ranks third in the AE in adjusted defensive efficiency (193 overall) behind UVM and NJIT UA now ranks 9th in the conference in adjusted offensive efficiency (345 overall - out of 358) ahead of only Maine Overall UA projects at 8th in the conference ahead of Bing and Maine, and is #308 overall. No one in the AE is in the top 100. (UVM/108, SBU/177, and NH/192 are the only ones in the top 200) There are 72 players in the AE that have played at least 100 minutes this season. Albany has 9 of them so minutes are being spread-out more than that average AE team Matt Cerruti has the highest PRPG! score with 1.7, and is ranked 26th in the conference (Dre Perry is 35th with 1.3) UMBC has 5 players with a higher score than Matt, which suggests that no one on the UA team would start on that team (obviously ludicrous, but still a fun stat) Jayden Martinez from NH is the highest ranked player in the league with a 5.4 and it isn't close. Ryan Davis and Ben Shungu from UVM are tied for second with a 3.4. Champion is 68th with -1.3, Little is 66 with -1.2, Doles and Horton are 63/64 with -0.6, Newman is -0.4. Neely (1.0), Hutch (1.0) are the other 2 UA players that are positive and 39/40 Team is still playing REAL slowly, ranked 325 in tempo. I know the original plan was to run, but that hasn't happened yet UA schedule so far is ranked as the 93rd hardest in division 1 This game was the only game UA has played above average D1 this season. This was our second best defensive performance after Columbia
  21. Agreed. My comment was a response to a few above us that were already mentioning the conference chip.... Lol. Talk about early.
