  1. Agreed alum. Don't care if his family took a dump at center court of SEFCU. I still root for local kids and like to watch them. DanePound put OT in the title.
  2. I know nothing about the specifics of the deal, but I can tell you that I am sure the university did ok on the deal, just not athletics. Sodexo does other catering on campus and in the campus center. It isn't just athletics. A discount on X in the campus center in exchange for rights to location Y. I am pretty sure UAS does campus wide contracts. I am sure if they removed the catering rights at the athletic events, costs would go up elsewhere.
  3. Just to clear something up.... the university and athletic department makes no money on concessions. It is part of their overall agreement with Sodexo. Selling 10 hot dogs or 1000 hot dogs doesn't change the athletic departments budget.
  4. Lol, I just posted that in the other thread. As far as withholding because of the title ix issues, that won't hold me back. Count me among the group that disagree with how title ix is applied to athletics. I'd rather the school fight it to make meaningful changes to how the rule is applied. It's appalling that a competitive dance team and competitive cheering team do not count towards the totals. They are both athletic, competetive, require tryouts, and are desired athletic teams. They should count. Edit for clarity: My comment on counting dance and cheering was not a sexist remark. Guys could be on those teams as well. My point was that they are athletic teams with tryout, are desirable spots, require athletic ability, and I am sure some people come to the school to be on those teams. They really aren't any different from any other sport.
  5. School has a program going, you can read about it in the off topic section. If they get 1844 donations in a few days someone will donate $1,000,000. That's about the buyout...
  6. Can anyone see what players they used for their analysis? The Bart Torvic site uses several players not on the team including Fromm and Starks that won't play, and do not project anything from Lulka or Hank.
  7. With just a little cursory searching, I cant seem to find any rankings of returning scoring. Anyone know where I can find it? I did find that UA is 346 out of 353 in returning minutes... http://www.barttorvik.com/returningmins.php
  8. A generous challenge has been issued to the University community by a Foundation board member. If UAlbany receives 1,844 gifts during the #ThisIsOurTime Giving Challenge, an additional $1 million gift will be made to the University. That's right ... $1,000,000. Please give to the Great Dane Athletic Club (GDAC) today and help us spread the word via Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, email and old-fashioned word of mouth. We have no doubt that we can make this $1,000,000 donor challenge a reality ... but we can't do it without you! Gifts of any size to GDAC are gifts in support of the This Is Our Time campaign. The #ThisIsOurTime Challenge is on! Thank you for your participation and generous support today. THIS IS OUR TIME!
  9. Actually, it looks like this has changed and the feedback loop program has been discontinued? I have been out of that industry since 2016, so who knows how they do it today... http://www.gettingemaildelivered.com/changes-to-road-runner-feedback-loop-program-announced https://messagegears.com/blog/time-warner-discontinues-feedback-loop/ No idea how to fix it today. That would be up to someone at UA to work with Spectrum about.
  10. Spectrum has to enter them into their system. UAlbany IT can't control what spectrum accepts - although UA-IT should be the ones to raise the issue with Spectrum. They have a program called their feedback loop (at least they did under TWC) where they mark a senders domain as safe, but will also collect spam reports more vigilantly from the sender. I had to help several area hospitals get added to the program so their e-mails could get to their nycap.rr.com customers.
  11. They should contact Spectrum and make sure they are signed up for the feedback loop program. I used to work for TWC years ago, and if an e-mail domain gets accused of SPAM or becomes a high volume sender the security on road runners network will block all mail from that domain. It is a relatively easy fix, but it requires someone from the originating mail sender to work with spectrum to get it fixed.
  12. This has been out there a bit, but I wanted to help give it some more attention. My wife has now been cancer free for 4 years, and events like this are close to my heart... http://www.ualbanysports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=15800&ATCLID=211776500 Hopefully we get a good crowd of fans there to help raise money for a great cause.
  13. A few seasons ago they did a dunk contest late in the year. I don't think the public was there but they showed highlights on Nichols and Kyle McKinley on the TV show. I was kind of hoping for that today... I enjoyed it. Surprised more students didn't show, but who knows how well it was publicized on campus.

  15. Do you need to have mens and womens tickets to attend? Registration was strange.
  16. Brown said he was playing everyone equal minutes according to that article in the gazette. I think last year we blew out teams in the scrimmages. I'm not concerned yet.
  17. Improve by campus. The parking lot looked pretty packed. I'd have gone if I didn't have so much other stuff to do.
  18. If anyone wants great seats for the game. PM me. I literally can not find anyone to take them (as of now)
  19. Because one of our members would not attend the game if the sox game was on. It was a comment about bob87. One off comments that are off topic are fun and add flavor. Spam debates about things other than the topic of the thread are annoying. For me its sad days. No urge to go to this game, I can't find anyone I know that wants to use my tickets and parking pass (I literally can not give them away as I tried), the team is going to get crushed, and I have to deal with Red Sux fans gloating about making it to the world series. My sports life is over for a few more weeks.
  20. Last week the e-mail about the sunday practice went out on Friday afternoon, so maybe we get something this afternoon.
  21. The meet and greet along with season ticket delivery is supposed to be Sunday I thought. Anyone know what time? I am looking through my e-mail and I haven't seen a communication on it since the newsletter. I may have missed it or it might have went to spam...
  22. https://dailygazette.com/article/2018/10/17/brown-still-not-close-to-determining-ualbany-starters Scrimmage is rumored to be Buffalo. We should try to get them on the regular OOC schedule. They have been pretty good for a few years and a lot of Buf alum live in the capital district.
  23. The bottom 4 in the league are pretty terrible. I'm not sure UA was picked high because the coaches thought we would be good as much as they thought those teams would be real bad.
  24. Preseason poll is out: https://americaeast.com/news/2018/10/17/mens-basketball-vermont-tops-mens-aehoops-preaseason-poll-lamb-highlights-preseason-all-conference-honorees.aspx 1. Vermont (6) 62 2. Hartford (3) 59 3. UMBC 44 T4. Albany 40 T4. Stony Brook 40 6. Binghamton 29 T7. Maine 19 T7. New Hampshire 19 9. UMass Lowell 12 Almost identical to my first run at rankings, but I have SBU and UMBC swapped, and UML and Maine swapped. Just a few weeks away!
