  1. Wish I had stayed home instead of coming to this. Oneonta is good for a D3 this season, but this is just depressing to watch.
  2. Time for that annual game we all hate, but as others have said, this should be a very good opportunity for the team to try stuff out and keep working on stuff. Most years this game is a no win situation. Gain nothing if we win, and there is always the risk of losing which could be embarrassing. This year, I don't care about the score. Even if the unthinkable happens. The win will be getting to see what Brooks, Miller, and deSousa can bring at the 1-3 spots, and hopefully give all 4 Bigs a chance to gain confidence and do some work underneath. Hopefully we can even get some minutes out of Jerotic and Fruscio. Not sure if I can make it tonight, but I'll be watching either way.
  3. Nice. 10-12 from the field including 2-2 from outside, playing the most minutes on his team. Very nice showing. Assists. Steals, a block. 6 turnovers though... Lol at me staring and nit picking a high school players stat line.
  4. On the season Campbell is now shooting 50% for 3, and 43% overall. It's still real early for anyone to make judgements on the year. We need him to make enough where teams stop sagging.
  5. Nova loses to Furman today in OT. They look like they don't belong in the top 25.
  6. No Sasha French today? Just noticed he isn't in the box score. Out of the rotation?
  7. Felt like more SBU fans than UA fans, but better than I expected. I just left the game as the kids were cold. I think SBU just went up 17-10, but I honestly wasn't paying attention. Good win in the court.
  8. At the football game, but not paying attention. Kids are here for cubs scouts so I couldn't skip. I'm in 205 with Bluetooth speaker and watching the basketball game. Both games fairly interesting so far.
  9. Canisius is 1-0 beating Bucknell in their opener. Bucknell beat St. Bonaventure (but lost to Fairfield and Canisius). This will be the second game for Canisius and we are their warmup for playing against Florida State and David Nichols. Canisius was picked by most people to finish second in the MAAC (ahead of Iona, but behind Rider). 6'5" guard Isaah Reese is the preseason MAAC Player of the year. This will be a tough game, and it would not surprise me if UA falls to 0-3. My main hope is that we continue to see improvement as Brown refines the playing group.
  10. Just to repeat myself. Some people like to follow the local kid and others we rooted for for a few years. If it bothers you so much that people chat about it, just don't read the thread. There are a lot of fans that came to the program to follow Joe. Deal with it.
  11. He started the game with a nice drive and bucket. I was hoping that was showing he had changed the mentality. He really didn't do much offensively at all tonight. Good or bad.
  12. UA did win the second half by 1 point. The terrible shooting woes in the first half combined with BU not missing on the outside was the difference. I didn't catch any post game interview, I'm curious what Brown said. Is UA going to start posting post game interviews and press on youtube like other teams do?
  13. I may be the only one, but I think Clark just had an off night. A lot of people go by the theory that shooters have to shoot themselves out of a slump. It felt like he was just forcing everything tonight, instead of letting the shots come to him. I think he will be fine. There wasnt a lot of positives to say about the game tonight, but I liked what I saw from deSousa. Even if they played really well, it's hard when the other team is raining 3s from everywhere and shooting 8 million percent.
  14. If he has to go 11 deep when Rizzuto comes back, will it be 12 deep when Flory is healthy? What about Jerotic as he gets comfortable? He supposedly has the talent to play, if not star at this level. If he is going to start going with depth, I hope he tries to increase the tempo of the game. Run more. Press more. If the bodies are there, use them.
  15. I'd rather be the 6 seed in CBB. Way more press throughout the season, and hell, even bad press for the loss is still press. Not sure if the final 4 in LAX even made the front cover of the Times Union. Finishing the year in the top 24 and getting a 6 or 7 seed would be above the fold.
  16. I would consider being in the basketball top 25 WAY more important/impressive than winning a national championship in Lacrosse, much less being in the final 4. Big time college athletics is all about what it does for the brand of the university and how much attention it brings to the school, thus adding to the value of your degree. 99 out of 100 random people on the street can't name one of the last 5 national champs in LAX. A pretty strong percentage now know that UMBC is a college with an athletic program. Lacrosse is growing, but it isn't even a pimple on that national medias forehead, much less something that brings attention.
  17. ummm, get a different job? Fire your family? Priorities, man. Priorities.
  18. Looking back at the stats from the Iona game, I think the big issue this season will come down to how Lulka, Hank, French, and Lauderdale develop. We have some of the most size we have had in a while, but they got outscored in the paint 32-6. The guards will be fine and keep the team competitive. If the 4 bigs can develop by the end of the OOC, the team will be very good. If not, it's going to be a very rough year. They will be the difference between a 10-15 win team and potentially having another 20+ win season.
  19. Not all smart TVs have the app. Do some homework before buying. I think all newer Samsung models do though. Much easier solution is a $30 Chrome cast, or $70 4k Chrome cast, but to each his own.
  20. I used a chromecast ($30 at best buy) and never lost audio or HD video.
  21. You know things are bad when the talk of the next game thread is computer classes. I spent so much time in the LC3 and LC4 computer labs using the good old VAX system.
  22. Turnovers was the story. No way around it. The team showed a lot of potential, but you can't win when you give the ball away.
