  1. I waited a while before posting…after leaving with 6 min left in the 3rd quarter. And then VU scored again before I was out of earshot of the stadium. This points out how far we are from the upper echelon teams of the league. Our starting QB is light years behind their FRESHMAN 2nd string QB. Our starting RB is not as good as their # 2 or # 3. Their O-Line completely dominated our D-Line. Our pass defense seems to be "let them catch it and then tackle them." GG made a jerk out of himself going into halftime by badgering the refs until it began to look like security was going to intervene. When the new coaching regime came out last year, the one thing that stuck out to me was Joe Bernard, our OC. He looked to me like a guy who knew the head coach and needed a job after being stuck in the HS ranks for 3 years. From his resume it's apparent that he's never been an OC except at the HS level….what??? Been bothering me since it was announced. Maybe I'm wrong. So you have the ball 2nd down at the 1 foot line and you line up in a shot gun and completely blow the execution and the time management….then a penalty on the rushed FG attempt. Pathetic and demoralizing. Unless it's a beautiful day and I have absolutely nothing else to do I doubt you will see me for the NH game…that disgusted. BTW, Samuel Gray was playing his heart out. Too bad hardly anybody else showed up. Today UA played like a D3 team.
  2. Martin is missing from the team site roster too. He was featured in the spring game, then was a fullback and is now missing. Maybe he dropped out of the program as he was getting squeezed out by the new recruits…or other reasons. Madaras brothers still MIA too.
  3. This has nothing to do with Villanova, but I've been following Brian Parker. He's not been activated for a game yet but has been sitting solid at #4 on the 53 man TE depth chart. They have no TE's on their practice squad so he seems to be pretty safe for now. Since the Chiefs are 1-4 and appear to be going nowhere this season, maybe they'll give him a chance in some live game action as the year goes on. That would be great to see. According to my math, his weekly checks are $25,588. That's not too hard to take. Go Brian! (wish you were still here though).
  4. From the Villanova fan forum : "I wish the leagues didn't have Albany and Elon in it. They seem like D3 schools to me in terms of perception". They seem to be dwelling on the UA "crybaby coach" and the dust-up last year. At any rate, when the best you can do is field an almost JV team they'd better play lights out or they will get pounded and the VU freshman QB will get healthy against our decimated D. I'll be there, but I have little hope for a W.
  5. I just think that recruiting "CAA" kids doesn't guarantee anything. Something like 6 losses last year by CAA teams to NEC teams. This team vs a year ago) is missing it's top three receivers, top three scorers, top rusher, the QB who holds the all-time record…this includes an NFL tight end and a three year QB starter. Takes time to get over that. Then you lose your best defensive player right off the bat. I was looking at the game rosters and it looks like for Maine the team had 9 of 11 offensive starters the same (Gontarek and Senn missing). Defense has 8 of 11 (Nicastro, Cooper, Sakowski are out). I definitely am frustrated at the regression of Crook. The two ints Saturday were awful throws. Look at the TD and he stared at Roberson the whole way. Just got lucky on that one. Maybe GG doesn't want to bench an ex-Penn Stater. Based on what we've seen the last couple of weeks it really makes one wonder how bad Harding and Sussman must look in practice if they don't get a chance. I doubt Harding would play much anyway as he's a senior and would not help 2016. Sweeney, incidentally, was doing OK at Hobart for a few games, then missed 2 with an injury, and then played this week only to go down with another injury. GG in the TU post game said they only have had "one full year" of CAA recruiting. On another note, my Giants have 3 CAA players on their roster and Will Tye from SB has 3 good catches in the first half.
  6. You definitely sit in front of me because that was me LOL. To go out and lay an egg like this in front of the biggest crowd they will see all year and after the big donation build-up is inexcusable. It appears the HC game was not an aberration. They have a lot of injuries, a lot of players starting who should not be starting yet and lots of coaching issues. How can you not get eaten up when your DBs are playing 5-10 yards off of their men? THey were playing without Senn today and that hurt…he's a good lineman and great at pulling. Crook continues to regress. He does not look comfortable, takes too much time (or the patterns take too long to develop) and really does not have a good college arm. Another great catch by Roberson is the only reason they were not shut out. What frosts me is that the opposing QB is ALWAYS better than our QB and today, a one win team had 2 QBs that were better than our starter. 2016 season anyone??
  7. The Maine message board seems to have degenerated into a fist fight over whether or not to end the football program.
  8. http://www.timesunion.com/business/article/Albany-Med-donor-s-wayward-path-5511202.php Now you know where it comes from.
  9. Yeah. Thank God the guy who invented Cheez Wiz wasn't a UA grad! Although to follow an earlier post's thread, there's still time for "Bob Ford Field at Tom and Mary Casey Stadium at Fuccillo Sports Complex at Trump South Side of the Campus" It would be HUUUUUUUUUGEAHHHH! Hope the donors don't waste time going to the Big Purple Fan Forum….but if you do, thanks folks…we're just having us some fun :-) BTW, Google seems to have smartened up (at least on my computer) because when I Google big purple fans I used to get like big purple fans….from Amazon and Overstock.com. LOL. Now I get the BPF Forum. OK, I need to go do something productive…..
  10. Thanks for the money! A little wordy for a name, but……Interesting history for Duker though…..
  11. In this week's coach's corner GG said Crook would definitely start and that Sussman's insertion was due to frustration on coach's part. He said it was a mistake. They make the case that injuries and distractions are adding up. FIrst time I've heard Ngachie's name mentioned.
  12. SUNY Stadium? It's weird that the two signs are not the same. The University at Albany Stadium.
  13. Yeah, a lot more fun than the HC game! One little aspect that intrigues me (could be my eyes) is that the first image looks like the first word is smaller letters than the second word and stadium. Then the one on the top of the stands (if complete) lacks the 1st word (family name?) Mostly a stadium name is to advertise (most these days) or memorialize. It might have nothing to do with the family name or business. So the first picture might be , for example…." Masters XYZ STADIUM" and the inside might just be "XYZ Stadium". I think I have run out of ideas.
  14. I don't see Galesi Group. I would think they would have the resources. Oops…their CEO is a graduate of LCC! Never mind….
  15. My Freshman year was 1970 and Spud was a fixture around the PE building. I seem to remember him taking care of the equipment too and towels, swimming trunks, etc. But I could be wrong. You always saw him at the games. Reminded me of my Dad with the crew cut.
  16. In the T-U today is an interview with GG and it says that the naming thing will be on the big screen next game.
  17. Trustco Bank?(purely a guess based on the size of the covered up name)
  18. Robert Morris 2010….38-0. The next two years UA was champion or co-champion of the NEC and finished 2010 at 6-5. I honestly enjoyed the Patriot League TV announcers….good observations.
  19. It'll be interesting to see what they come with for highlights. Maybe the team getting off the bus, because after that it was embarrassing.
  20. On the plus side, the video feed was pretty good and free and I didn't waste the time and money for a trip to HC.
  21. So we're going from deep at WR to being in deep $iena. And another player hurt…Morrison...
  22. Somewhere I recall posting that the last time we had a star player suspended we got beat something like 31-0 vs Wagner…as Yogi would say, deja vu all over again. Case of a team which is down, has sustained serious injuries, has a key player suspended, is young and inexperienced. It's all coming home to roost. Let's see how they respond next week at home vs Maine.
