  1. I guess the players like them, but they leave me underwhelmed. Guess we'll have to change the forum to "Big Grey Fans."
  2. I see an article from CBS6 that was from about a week ago. It says it was a question of whether Sussman or Crook would be the starter. But then it goes on to say how Sussman graduated early to be able to participate in spring practice. I think the reporter got Sussman and Brunson confused since it was Brunson that graduated early. So I think #2 would be Brunson. I wonder who might run the wildcat this year, if they continue it. There's certainly an abundance of talented receivers and that would be a way to get more of them involved.

  4. Did you listen to the FOX-980 podcast? Basically he was joking that he might be looking for a substitute coach for the second half against Kentucky if things were real ugly by half-time. Trying to get one of the two guys on the radio to volunteer.
  5. There are quite a few athletic sites out there that look basically the same and are light years ahead of UA's. So there must be some off the shelf web design for college sports. Is UA reinventing the wheel here? I agree, it looks bad. Even AMTRAK updated their site LOL.
  6. Did anyone figure out where the "Albany" section is going to be at UB Stadium?
  7. Nothing against Starke, but hitting 65 yard FGs off a tee in practice is like hitting straight drives at the range. An edge rush and a couple of 6-6 guys jumping in front of you changes everything. Still, 65 yards in practice is a good leg. Oh yes…I remember that kicker in 2013….a laugh a minute.
  8. LOL. My wife of 32 years still says "Albany State" and gets PO'd when I correct her. On the other hand, she is an Oneonta graduate so perhaps we should attend this game. There's so many Oneonta grads around here that they could get a good crowd. Doesn't UB still play Buff State from time to time?
  9. UA66, forgot about the rain but sort of recall it was a lousy day weather wise. I do recall that neither team could get much done. There must have been a mixed extra point by Alfred but not sure how that came about.
  10. It's good to hear that there's some dedicated younger fans. The old field was nice (the grass was nice and it had a good crown) but the fan experience was lousy. Little elevation from the field and a LONG ways from the action. We had some good times during the first few years and I can recall some great games. The Alfred game during the 9-0 season was a gem. If memory serves, UA won the toss and Ford (surprise!) deferred. Windy day. Long kickoff….Alfred return man gets blasted and coughs up the ball. UA has the ball deep in Alfred territory….one of the first plays, the backup QB is in as a tailback and tosses an option pass out of the Wishbone for a TD…add an extra point. Albany won 7-6. And Alfred was good back then. If anyone has a different recollection please correct me. All that being said, I much prefer the new field and have yet to miss a home game.
  11. I had the same reaction…Oneonta??? This will be a throwback…there were some great games in the SUNYAC days of the 70s. But really, that needs an explanation….
  12. I plan on going to the UB game and perhaps the HC game. Does UA ever have buses for away games? I can't seem to find any reference to it. Also, for any of you going to the UB game, is there a section in their stadium for the visiting fans or is it all mixed up like normal? Thanks.
  13. I live near Northway Exit 12. I had the experience of having someone BACKING UP in one of the many traffic circles. The driver apparently flunked geometry. I do think they need a better connector for CDTA, the campus and Harriman. I worked at Harriman until last October and it was not easy if you wanted to use public transportation.
  14. Inevitable that there would be attrition at the QB spot. Sweeney is a hometown kid as far as Hobart is concerned so he'd be playing in front of family and friends. Plus, Hobart is a solid D3 program that appears in the playoffs regularly and even had an O-Lineman drafted in the 2nd round this year. Good luck to him. Post from a Sec V HS blog….."Nice transition back home for Shane. Plus he is going to a perennial Top 10 D3 program in the nation. Kids need to go where they can play and contribute in college. They are much happier that way. Plus I'm not convinced Albany could have beaten Hobart last year anyway." (Guess they were REALLY good)
  15. I noticed that the 2015 Football roster is up. A few things I see: Kalief Joyner was listed as OL for Spring game, but back to TE on the roster. Kevin Malloy is listed as a TE again despite making third team All CAA as an OT. So the loss of Parker through graduation and Ketter through injury seem to have shuffled things a bit. Plus, there's some big and good new kids coming in at OL and OT so they can afford to shift them back. Does anyone know if Mike Madaras is still at Albany? His brother Sam is still on the roster, but Mike seemed to disappear during the last season.
  16. When I was in school, Albany BB played in the SUNYAC, the football team was just added my Freshman year and that was about it. Oh yeah, they had a very good wrestling program. So all of this is just amazing to me. I do still recall the Albany-Siena games when the Siena side chanted "Beat Albany High" and the Albany side chanted "Beat St Rose" and fights in the stands were not out of the question. Good times…good times... Yes, Benson seems to be on the ball. I like that.
  17. Probably Syracuse. They have been running through the current CAA teams of late….SB, Maine, 'Nova and I think RI this year. So that would be a natural
  18. I'm not necessarily any closer, except for geography. I've not heard anything in terms of changing the ticketing process although they had a discounted price this year for season tickets if purchased before a particular date…which I did. Just as an aside, I was wondering about the UB game because they had UA on the sked for either 9/3 or 9/5. I just looked at their website and it's showing 9/5 at 3:30 and game on ESPN3. I was planning to make the trip.
  19. Why do Siena fans think a predominance of Green in the stands will affect the outcome? How's that worked out for you 4 of the last 5 years at the TUC? This sounds like a good deal. I don't think we're going to get a MAC and an A-10 team to come to Albany for a tourney, but anything is possible. How about UA, Siena, Colgate and Cornell?
  20. English: We've agreed to agree to talk some more…and we'll talk some more and let you know when we agree to anything.
