  1. I agree with DanesRGood regarding the camera work. Lacrosse is not a sport for closeups. The passes and shots are frequently so fast that a wider perspective is necessary.
  2. I haven't looked on line yet, but the mailing I got isn't that big of a difference. It looks like there's about a $2/ticket/game increase in Sec 205. Plus there's supposed to be 6 home games this year as opposed to 5 last year. They did offer a discount last year for paying early. OK, I checked. The price on line is the same as the letter.
  3. I watched on AE TV which is a little rough since there's sound but no commentary or replays. The feed was a little herky jerky today as well. The defense needs some work but putting up that many goals was nice. The new FO specialist showed what he could do against more typical competition. Very promising for a true freshman. Must admit though that part of me keeps watching for that braid and the circus shots.....gotta get over it I know....
  4. Outclassed at this point. Outshot 50-15! Really sloppy passing overall. Not sharp at all.
  5. YYYYEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS!!!!!!! ESPN on ROKU hung up a few times but if I backed out and went to the entry point it came back fine.
  6. I still expect a war. This sort of brings to mind those sayings along the lines of "No battle plan survives first contact with the enemy" or Mike Tyson's "They all have a plan until they get punched in the face". SBU is far better equipped to punch back hard than an undermanned Maine team was. Still, I think UA showed in Long Island that they can play with these guys and if they play well they can surely beat them. Should be fun!
  7. I think SBU will be a war. This is a true statement game for them and they have to be real tired of UA stealing the cookies just before they get to take a bite. I hope Cremo is feeling OK. He'll probably be spending two days in a whirlpool. He's a heck of a talent but was kind of reckless on the shot he got hurt on. I think after the consecutive dunks he wanted a piece of the action and his emotions got ahead of his BB brains. All that said, when he came back he looked pretty tentative and a bit wobbly. Leaving him in let him work out the kinks and he was better later on. I loved the post move he put on and the fact that he almost always seems to be in the right place for rebounds…and led in rebounds last night despite missing time. I agree that Peters should do better, but as said, talented 6-11 guys don't go to the AE. Still, he plays with little or no aggression. I also like how WB never lets up, coaches up the players when they come out, gets steamed at a bad pass up by 40. Can't let up this time of year.
  8. Tough loss. I can understand not wanting to take a time out but not the need to try an off balance 3 pt shot. Drive, drive, drive…dish if needed…draw a foul. The team is really missing Sam right now.
  9. I never mentioned this before, but in the UB game Crook came out really strong and looked good and confident. He took a very hard hit in that game and afterwards was just not the same. Always wondered if he got hurt on that play. Maybe it was the shoulder? In any case, it was nice to see GG acknowledge that they need to have tighter pass coverage as too often last year their pass defense was of the "let them catch the ball and then tackle them" style.
  10. Kareem Brown played for Coffeyville CC in Kansas. According to their website they have quite a large number of players who signed NLIs yesterday and I counted 12 BCS signings, so this JUCO is at a pretty high level. I think GG is exactly right regarding the QB situation as no one distinguished themselves for very long. Interested to see where Brunson falls into the mix.

  12. Looks like a good group. Twitter says the dog and pony show is at 4 PM today. Live feed. Classier rollout though with the YouTube videos and a little extra production. I like the DL beef and there appears to be some good speed. The Wyoming transfer LB was shown as a QB outrunning DB's.
  13. Instead of starting a new thread I thought I would mention: today's NY Post lists Ryan Roeder as a possible in house candidate For QB Coach of the Giants. Could you imagine an Albany QB coaching Eli and friend?
  14. Way to rebound!!! I saw a tall skinny guy in purple….basically as tall as Peters. I assume it was McKinney. That was before the game though, not in the game. Hooley is like a bull in a China closet..I love it!
  15. In the books…..UMBC is definitely better...
  16. That's insane. I'm doing pretty dang well for myself all things considered, but even though I didn't have any scholarships or assistance, my 2yrs at HVCC and 4 years at UAlbany (night school - takes twice as long - graduate in May) will cost me like $50-60k if I had to put a number on it. 240k? Say what you want, but that is highway robbery if you're not on a ride. No school should cost that much, IMO. Yeah, $240K is ridiculous, but most places have grants that reduce that cost a great deal for many students. I'm just saying that for most mid-major recruits who are not looking at a future in pro-BB, part of the decision has to be academic program and value. The Patriot League is a decent level and there are quite a few fairly prestigious schools in there.
  17. Lafayette has an engineering program and a full ride there is in the $240,000 range for 4 years. Just saying'.
  18. http://www.cornellbigred.com/news/2016/1/2/MBB_0102163521.aspx Pretty good video….
  19. Recapping the CAA in the FCS tournament: W&M barely got by Duquesne before being taken out by Richmond. Colgate took out NH and JMU before getting taken to the woodshed by Sam Houston. Richmond got a nice win against Illinois St before NDSU showed them why they are the 4 time defending champs. So a down year for the CAA I should think, but how that would have worked out without JMU and Villanova's QB injuries we'll never know.
  20. I can't believe the legs on this thread! Holy cow!
  21. Having lived in this area all of my life, I think part of the problem here is a lack of a single "identity" for the residents. The Capital District is very spread out and there's a lot of local pride/loyalty. People who live in Cheektowaga or Sloan or Hamburg will tell someone in another state that they live "in Buffalo". Although I've been here 60+ years I have never lived in Albany and would not tell anyone I live in Albany. People will show up and be loyal for an Amsterdam High football game, but would not travel to Albany for a UA game because it's "Albany". Syracuse has a monopoly on local D 1 sports and a long-time history at the top level, which is way different than in Albany. Buffalo has their Bills and Sabres and pretty much everybody west of Utica supports those teams. The Patroons and Firebirds had some success here, but they were minor league (Patroons) or new (Firebirds). But Albany is never going to be a major league area. UA has yet to make big marketing penetration (IMHO). Go to Columbus and you can't escape Ohio State Buckeyes….it's everywhere. You can go into a store like Boscovs and get college apparel from all sorts of places….but no UA (no Siena for that matter). I have not once seen UA apparel, decals, etc in any store other than the one on campus and on line. So there's lots more that can be done. Outreach to local HS's, some 1/2 price tickets to lure younger people to be fans, ticket giveaway events, etc. Just my ramblings….
  22. I got mine too and thought it was a nice touch. At some point here there will likely be a booster club of some sort that we'll have to join in order to get premium seating (for example). My thought was that this was what was in the envelope.
  23. TWC is showing it on their Albany/Hudson Valley schedule for Ch 50.
