  1. Too bad. Hopefully he learns his lesson. As a long time fan I am pleased that the coach and athletic department enforce the rules regardless of who you are. Next man up! Good thing we appear to be loaded at WR.
  2. Thanks for all of that! Was considering the trip to Worcester but the weather looks pretty iffy at this point. Plus, I'd have to leave my bicycle, .22 and Scotch home so what fun is that??
  3. I couldn't stay awake for the end of the game but caught a lot of the middle. SMU just could not stop them. This appears to be JMU's year.
  4. We couldn't figure out why they kept taking long shots instead of short outs or slants.
  5. Duke's run defense today was outstanding. Beautiful day for a game and the crowd looked good….and was pretty loud at the end. Crooks was throwing some wobblers and seemed to be having #14 Fiacchi flashbacks in the first half….run or throw run or throw run or throw….aw, just get tackled. Hanks must think he's still in HS because he tried a couple of reverse fields on on play and had a big loss. Second half D was up a few notches with more QB pressures. Exciting game!
  6. At the rate Rutgers is going the game would have to be held at Rahway.
  7. I forgot to mention how impressed I've been with Alston. He is one tough kid to bring down on KO returns. If he can catch out of the backfield it should be interesting. I'm looking for him to start taking some RB snaps. I can see now why Andre Martin was moved. Croskey, Hanks and Alston all have shown more than he did in his opportunities.
  8. Positives: Croskey and Hanks had 6 yards per run. No sacks. 6 turnovers. 28 points. Negatives: JMU ran 28 more offensive plays. 350 yards rushing given up as they moved our D-line at will and had runners cut back untouched for 5 yards. Crook missing and over throwing receivers. How many times did he miss Croskey on what would have been solid gainers? The turnovers held down the score and any time you win the turnover battle that much it should put you in the game if you otherwise execute. UA takes way less downfield shots than in the previous couple of years. UA's O-Line is their strength and it showed.
  9. Game, set and match….42-21. When your D Line is outweighed by that much…forget it. Hope the coaches recruit some bigger bodies.
  10. Crook looks extremely nervous out there. Maybe we'll a little Sussman in the 2nd half.
  11. I think they are going to have a hard time keeping close for this one. Time of possession could be key, but JMU can strike quick so it may not make a difference. The most striking size difference is in the JMU D front 7. Their 4 starting LBs average almost 230 and the 3 DLs average around 290. So running is going to be tough. Good test of where UA is in the CAA at the moment.
  12. Paula Hueser is in the "Faces in the Crowd" page of Sports Illustrated….Pg 22….Sept 14 issue!!
  13. I've had no issues with the stadium seats except for opening day 2 years ago.
  14. I think it's healthy for regular fans to make suggestions and air complaints. I've been going to football games for 45 years and have had season tickets at BoFo since they opened. So it's not like I showed up at my first game and came away with a barrel of complaints. A gentle email to the facilities folks should not ruffle too many feathers and typically those in charge tend to like to hear what's not working right. So I emailed them. Here's a true story: Opening day of BoFo we went to the game carrying our newly purchased stadium seats. As we neared the stadium we saw a steady stream of folks going in the opposite direction carrying similar seats. I asked one and they said that they were turning them away at the gate. So I trudged back to the car and then we went into the stadium. You may remember that there was a lot of athletic department presence there the first game or two. When we got into the stadium a fellow in a U Albany shirt (30-40YO) asked pleasantly how things were going and if we were having a good time. Told him what had happened and that I was not happy about it. He assured me that they were not supposed to be keeping stadium chairs out and that it was probably just opening day misinformation at the gates. Having said that, he told us to wait where we were at the bottom of our steps up to 205. He comes back with 2 of the heavy duty purple stadium seats with the split U Albany on the back. We thanked him profusely and asked where we should return them after the game. He said keep them! So they made good on an error, found out about the problem and left 2 happy patrons. So let them know if something is amiss. Turns out the ones we bought were crap and could not be used anyway due to their attachment system. So we returned them to Dick's. I felt bad about getting a couple of free chairs so we donated money to the Football program to make up for them. Incidentally, if you don't have them, they make all the difference in the world in enjoying the game in comfort. FInally…I think we need more cowbell!
  15. LOL. Maybe I'm just in a bad mood because I gave up some bed time to watch the Giants blow a game. No, just constructive criticism. The marching band did well! The dance/cheerleader routine was good. The team played great. Watch the highlights and stop action it on Croskey's two TDs. Michael Senn (#77) pulled on both of them. The longer run was a thing of beauty with a perfectly executed pulling #77 and kick out block by the TE. Coach was saying that if Croskey gets loose not many will catch him and he showed some serious acceleration on that one. Down field blocking by the wideouts was also good on a number of plays. I think we sit behind you Ilko!
  16. Great performance on a wet track! I would say the RB position ought to be in very good shape for a few years if they stay healthy…considering Mencer has not played and Alston is another option.
  17. A couple of gripes from the game (unrelated to signs). The volume of the music and PA system (not the announcer but the guy who does the promotions) is excessive. People young and old were literally plugging their ears in sec 205. Come on folks, no need to deafen the audience. Secondly, I think they need to ban umbrellas from the games. There were many people in the upper deck using umbrellas. It's one thing to have a small umbrella that you hold low over your head and it's something else entirely to use golf umbrellas in the stands and hold them up as if you're standing all alone in the middle of the 4th fairway. Two college age boys were doing exactly that a few rows in front of us and I had to (politely) ask them to put them down. The umbrellas completely blocked 80% of the field view. Totally oblivious to the other fans and completely lacking in courtesy. Buy a poncho….buy a rain jacket…..or get wet.
  18. Stayed through 21-0 and then the rain began to pick up and my wife's patience ended…LOL. So we slogged up the Northway while Roger on 980 described the sudden blackout. The uniforms looked decent, but they probably would have looked better on a nice day. Boy we have a stable of receivers! A few drops on crossing patterns. Nice TE TD on a drag route. Croskey runs eerily like Omar, but with less side-to-side moves and a better burst. He's going to break some. Hanks did not get much of a chance today. Hard hitting by defense and good strategy to short kick-offs due to URI returner. Crook looks good and the planned runs add a little more for the opposing D to worry about. Great win! JMU destroyed Lehigh today so next week will be a good test of where we are this year.
  19. In case anyone missed it, Kevin Huerter (Shenendehowa….6-5 shooting guard) committed to Maryland.
  20. On the weekly show Malloy said he was 280 now. I think the rule is that if the athlete has been in 30% or less of the games (or something like that) they can apply for a waiver (medical redshirt) to make it as if they did not play at all in the year of the injury. I'm not sure how that stacks up against the 5 or 6 year limits.
  21. Absolutely stumbled over the CAA coaches teleconference today and Coach G made it sound as if Nicastro is out for the year….very unfortunate. Other than that he said there were some bumps and bruises and bruised egos. Also, Hanks is the CAA rookie of the week!
