  1. There are no 2015 stats for Dutkanych so perhaps he redshirted (if still with the program). Justin Reh shows 41 goals and 64 assist as a senior so passing and assists are a strong point. He's listed at 6-0 153, which is a bit slim, but Connor FIelds isn't all that big either.
  2. Another big difference (at least compared to Cornell) is that once they found their groove, the ND shooters were deadly. I did some looking at the UA verbal commits and one that caught my eye is Colyn Lyons, from Lafayette near Syracuse. Native American, plays for IMG academy in FLA. He's described as either 6-2 or 6-3, 225 lbs and a "bully with a stick". Defenseman. #6 in FLA. I agree that LT held the ball a bit too long and in crunch time tried to do too much, which played into their hands. I know not everyone caught the beginning of the game because of the station switch, but did others notice that ND came out in a 10 man ride? I was wondering if it was a psych out attempt like "Hey guys, remember this from last year?". I think the other thing that struck me from the game is how few penalties there were, but I guess it's like other sports with man up/man down situations. In crunch time in the playoffs everyone is a little more careful because a foolish or over aggressive penalty can end your season.
  3. Some interesting analysis out there. One theory is that ND's superior depth, especially in the midfielders, wore down UA. They have three lines they rotate. The defender on Lyle was simply amazing. It looked like he had a tether connected to Lyle's waist. He rarely gave him the separation he needed to be effective.
  4. What I see when they get to this level is the same thing I have seen the first two years in the CAA. Top to bottom, the other teams are usually a little bigger, a little faster and a little more athletically skilled. In order to beat them you have to play a near perfect game while they hope the other side has an off day. Yes, we have the offense, but we need the face off stud and the defense to compete. Fields and Oakes are a good start for 2015, but who is going to feed them?Oooops! 2016…time flies!
  5. It's been fun to watch…except for this afternoon…thanks guys!
  6. OK, they woke up!!!!! Now the ND folks are complaining the announcers are pro-Albany.
  7. FO guy is asleep, defense is asleep, goalie is asleep…..hard to win if you can't get possession.
  8. I agree. This is the top seed, UA is not exactly playing great and down by one. It'll be interesting to see how they come out after the delay. Sometimes it shifts momentum one side or the other. Notre Dame is good. They seem to have a little more size and their defensemen are outstanding. They're already crying over the officiating over on the ND board.
  9. Face offs….face offs….face offs….gotta get better.
  10. Personally, I have found the game times annoying. I like 1pm starts. The 3 pm starts make it tough to get dinner at a reasonable hour. The night games are not bad and easier during hotter weather. Maybe they do it to encourage tailgating and for travel purposes? There's always the TV time slot element too for those games that involve ESPN3 or another network. I live about 30-35 min north so my travel is not much of an issue.
  11. They just said Cornell was 24-8 on face offs. There were also some lazy passes/catches that stood out. Maybe the tourney folks should reconsider the seeding? A little late for that.
  12. 15-2 at the half. Either the UMBC face off guy isn't very good or the UA guys are improving. Doing very well at the X.
  13. Can't find anything about Aaron, but reports say Jafar was released from his RMU scholarship earlier this year and was reportedly transferring to ???
  14. It's blacked out on ESPN3 in the Albany area but Time Warner Sports is carrying it.
  15. It was hard to tell but I don't imagine there were more than a few hundred. Julie Forster and family were sitting in front of us cheering on her brother. Coach G plopped down in a seat about 8' from us and chatted with an acquaintance for a good bit of the first half. The OC and DC were apparently running the show until the end when they gave the QBs a crack at a 2 minute (1:45 actually) drill.
  16. Just a few more things from the Spring Game before I forget them. DJ Crook was playing with a brace on his left knee. Nic Ketter appeared to be hobbling about the side line in street clothes. Kalief Joyner was listed on the O-Line when previously they showed him as a TE. The defense was hitting very hard and there was even a personal foul for a late hit out of bounds. The receivers for the most part held on after crunching hits over the middle. The QBs all had a pretty quick step up when trying to run, but since they were playing "one hand touch" to tackle the QB there were some potential runs that never happened.
