  1. I have no inside information but I dont think Doherty is returning. That would give us 3 scholarships. I know they are working hard on the recruiting trail and are tracking some very good JUCO players. (Not sure we can get them). We will see but I would imagine that we will find out soon enough.
  2. Outside of Healy (who already redshirted and would lose a year of eligibility) where are they going to go ? How many of these guys are going to find schools where they can play 20+ minutes a night. (And they need to sit out a year. ) Rizzuto- Nope , Desousa-Nope , Lulka-Nope, Hank-Nope, French-Nope, Anderson - already transferred and is a senior. Shafer -Nope. Hutchinson- getting 20+ minutes a game as a freshman and Brown likes him. Nope. They may leave but they are going D2. Our core will be jr's next year and the excuses go out the window. Big offseason. Recruiting this year will be huge.
  3. Again I have absolutely no problem with any of these posts but I dont have the same gloom as some do on this board. Brown came back from the dead before to have something like a 1/2 dozen 20 win seasons in a row. I think even after 20 years of coaching he will continue to learn. We return a lot but really need to change the recruiting a little bit. Anderson at full strength should have a positive impact. Have probably 3 scholarships (or more ). Need to recuit athletes. Plain and simple .
  4. I wanna start out by saying something positive: Hansen has improved greatly since the start of the season. I love watching him play. He knows what he does well and only does that. Brown said on the post game interview that the team cannot score and has no inside presence. A good part of me Hope's they dont win another game and that really sinks in to Brown. Need to recruit guys who can score. Please please please go find some.
  5. I hope so as well. I try to be positive but sometimes its difficult. Haha . I have said in the past that "player x" is not a division 1 player. I do feel bad about that. There are 12+ players on a roster and sometimes coaches miss. However I believe that every player on the team should be able to do something well. Just something (Defense , free throws, rebound, shooting). The guys far on the bench should try and develop 1 thing to help the team. Also this is a broken record (I know , Haha) but we NEED to recruit more athletic. Someone who can jump and move. I think (obviously) this would help a lot.
  6. Responding to an above post about Desousa: I dont think he has regressed. But I dont think he has progressed either. He is suppose to be this ultra athletic body but cant create his own shot. He is very good on the defensive end but is starting to remind me a little of Campbell. (Just more athletic) I like the kid, he tries really really hard and seems to really care. He needs to really work on his offensive game during the off season. He should be able to take the big men off the dribble and the smaller guys to the post.
  7. I really do agree with just about every post on here. I wanted a 3-5 win improvement on last year. However next season the excuses stop. We need to get better in the off season. We need to recuit guys that can have an impact and create their own shot. Very very poor game. UMBC has improved but they did not play that well. We did not show up at HOME. That's the bigger concern for me because that shows the lack of pride.
  8. I love facts: I believe Clark's decision making is slightly better this year but if you look at is STATS, they are basically the same from last year. (I like him and he is our best player). A 40 percent field goal player as a sr. Healy STATS are actually slightly lower. Although hurt (and I understand that) , he was a better (statistical) player last year. The rest are the same or lower. That's kind of my point, they are not improving and if you look at the FACTS everyone will see that.
  9. I'm not saying they are not talented. I'm saying they are not progessing. These guys got a ton of minutes as freshman and I would like you to please name 1 player who has gotten noticeably better from last year to this year? Please name 1. I'm not trying to be an @ss I really mean it. Back it up with facts. That's my complaint. Just because you are a good high school recuit means very little as a sophomore.
  10. I agree. I have given the team the benefit of the doubt but not next year. Someone on this board (too lazy to look it up) tried to say we are an above average team . We are a slightly below Division 1 team . Click said this 10 games ago but he is 100 percent right . EVERY SINGLE PLAYER needs to be recruited above. This coaching staff should say every single starting position is open. I cant name 1 player that has really improved over last year . Not 1. Someone please help me on this because that's on the coaching staff.
  11. A joke is a good way to say it. The excuses are over next year. Healy is a shell of himself. Very few players improved. Not sure what they do during the off season .
  12. Absolutely pathetic coaching job. The fact this is staff does not have this team up for this team is atrocious. They should be ashamed of themselves. 1 more half to get back in this. Terrible .
  13. Lamb has played very poorly in Maine his entire career. That's probably why they think Clark is a more complete player. Clark is playing outstandingly his sr season . Good for him.
  14. Thank god for Clark. Bad Bad Bad offense half. No movement. Pretty Bad Defensively as well. Need to get out of here with a win.
  15. With Hartfore losing yesterday we are back in control. Unless Healy is near 100 percent I would not play him here either. Maine plays better at home but if we play good defense we should be fine. Would like to see Lulka get involved today and have double digits.
  16. I agree with everything you said here. This is the last year for excuses. I hate excuses and I tell my kids that all the time. I do think that when you lose 2 top kids to transfers unexpectedly at the end of the year it's different. If Brown knew they were leaving I obviously think they would have been recruiting. It's got to be tough to start recruiting again so late in the year. We can still finish 10-6 or better. (Stony Brooks best player appears to have a pretty good injury). I looks forward to seeing how we improve and what this recruiting class brings but I'm not ready to close the book on this season just yet.
  17. I cant remember the last time we got a transfer and they had to sit a year but if there was ever a time it's now. There are a ton of D1 transfers. Let them sit next year and then with our core are sr's we can try and have a very special season. The core of the team is still young but the excuses run out next year. I know we seem to have gotten a very good freshman point guard coming in but the rest of our recruiting seems very very underwhelming.
  18. Not a fair statement at all . But I'll give u 1 person. Lulka: a 9 point plus scorer as a freshman and our leading rebounder. I dont want to go find it but there was a recent article that stated the only 2 players who have not missed practice was Lauderdale and Henson. Your right every team gets injuries but only 2 players not missing practice is outrageous. We have had a ton of injuries. I would guess more then 95 percent of the other teams. It's not an excuse but your statement above is ridiculous.
  19. I could not agree more. When the preseason expectations poll came out I always thought a 3-5 win improvement would be good. The only downside to that was the extremely weak non conference schedule. We seem to say this every year but next year is a huge year for Brown. (Not that he is in danger of getting fired). Our core will all be Jr's and we need to start winning again. Anything less then a top 2 finish in the league would be unacceptable (Vermont is losing Lamb).
  20. Good close game. The better team won but that was without Healy. The number 3 seed is still well within reach. Absolutely right move not playing Healy. Get him as close to 100 percent as you can. Played hard tonight.
  21. 3-12 to start the game. I know we have injuries but this coaching staff needs to be a priority on recruiting players that can put the ball in the hoop.
  22. 3 airballs already. If (our best player ) Clark does not have 25-30 tonight we will get killed.
  23. I completley understand your line of thought. And I really can disagree with it. But let me ask you this : Would you rather be the 4 seed with a 100 percent Healy going into the playoffs Or the number 2/3 seed with a Healy playing 15 minutes a game. We cant win anything without him so my line of thinking was that a 100 percent Healy is better then avoiding Vermont. Even a 2/3 seed and a home game does very little without a completely healthy Healy. However we dont know how hurt he is. So if he can give it a go and not do anymore damage then I think he should play.
  24. Just a tough year. I do believe we have gotten better though. I would sit Healy until he is 100 percent. We are a 1 bid league and only thr tournament matters.
