  1. Good luck Paul. We'll be rooting for you. Make sure you register at www.ualbanyfootballalumni.org too. (shameless plug).
  2. I like the home schedule. The stadium alone will draw people in next year. All four CAA home games are winnable. In 2014 we should get some really good home games. Plus we get to travel to JMU which may not be in e CAA very long. This is a great opportunity to play in one of the best FCS stadiums in the country. And I love the Game at SBU the last game of the season. I think and hope that will stay on the same slot every single year. Rivalry week. The CAA has put very rivalry the last game of the season so far. Villanova-Delaware Bill and Mary-Richmond Albany-Stony Brook
  3. Road trip back to Delaware! http://blogs.delawareonline.com/collegesports/2012/12/18/for-openers-delaware-gets-jmu-in-caa-2013-football/ Delaware's schedule (home in bold) 8/31 (possibly 8/29 or 8/30) - Jacksonville 9/7 - Delaware State 9/14 - Navy 9/21 - Wagner 9/28 - James Madison* 10/5 - Maine* 10/12 - Albany* 10/19 - Bye 10/26 - Rhode Island* 11/2 - Towson* 11/9 - William & Mary* 11/16 - Richmond* 11/23 - Villanova*

  5. Richmond has a beautiful little stadium too. I'm glad we're traveling there next year.
  6. We should see our schedule released soon. They were just waiting for the CAA schedule to be released.
  7. Monmouth and Quinipiac to the MAAC is official. Monmouth will be applying to the NEC as a football affiliate member according to their local beat writer. I have to think they've all but locked that down before they accepted the MAAC invite. No DI school in their right mind leaves a conference without securing a spot for its basketball and football programs.
  8. No. It is very likely the AEast could add a school or two from a decimated NEC. The CAA will likely grab a few schools from a decimated Southern Conference. The SoCon is going to undoubtedly lose App State and Georgia Southern to an FBS conference. Either the Sunbelt or CUSA. The CAA has already taken College of Charleston from the SoCon. There is also a strong potential that the CAA could lose schools to either the MAC or A10 when it loses schools to the new Big Catholic conference. If that happens we might get a CAA all-sports offer ourselves. Tons of potential implications to us.
  9. Extremely likely that this will effect the schools in the conferences we play in. In the AEast, CAA and MAAC.
  10. Any the dominoes begin to fall.... NY Post reporting that the non-FBS Big East schools are gone. http://newyorkpost.com/p/sports/college/basketball/big_east_basketball_only_schools_c2PMii2vTg8twF80US3G6H
  11. We're so far behind Bing and SBU because they've each produced a few huge individual donors of the last few years. Our prior status as a Teacher's College is coming to full cycle now as 72 mentioned above. Its going to take a while to shake that.
  12. With all due respect to Monmouth and Wagner.......I do not want to be in a league with schools like that. The last thing we need is the CAA to become the NEC of old. The CAA represents a step up in commitment to football and should remain that way. I do not see Wagner or Monmouth making the same financial commitment to facilities and scholarships that we have and other CAA teams have. If they, however, were to get on board and say spend $20m on stadiums and commit to increasing scholarships immediately, then I might change my mind. Until that happens, no thanks.
  13. The other thing to keep an eye on is the Big East non-football schools. Including Georhetown and Villanova playing FCS football. They are expected to announce there intentions soon and the bet is they will leave the Big East. That will likely lead to the Big East further raiding the CUSA and MAC and will likely result in App State, Georgia Southern leaving the SoCon and JMU potentially leaving the CAA. That will mean we will likely see a few SoCon schools moving to the CAA.
  14. Looks like its a done deal. http://collegesportsinfo.com/2012/12/12/maac-adds-quinnipiac-monmouth-and-wagner/ Quinipiac, Monmouth and Wagner to the MAAC. Possibilities for football still unclear but could be: 1. Stay in the NEC as an affiliate 2. Join the CAA as an affiliate 3. Join the Patriot League as an affiliate 4. Join the PIoneer League and drop scholarships I think the NEC is the likely scenario for 2013 and 2014. No clue what happens after that.
  15. I did go out an buy a big snow blower this year though. That's going in our favor since it probably won't snow at all since I dropped a ton of dough on it.
  16. That separate foundation is for the North side ticket booth. You can see it in the design here. You can also see tat the steel berms are exposed in front of the concrete on the first level. Second level is open and third is completely closed in.
  17. Good for him. I wish him all the best and I hope they introduce him as a rookie punter from Albany on Sundays in two years.
  18. And they sprayed it on the large piles of dirt as well. I wonder if its some kind of chemical that melts snow? It's the hydro seed process without the seed, basically just the mulch component. It was done to help stabilize the site for the winter months and help minimize soil runoff. Thanks Brutus. Quick question - what is the deal with the old soccer scoreboard? Is that being left up for a reason?
  19. And they sprayed it on the large piles of dirt as well. I wonder if its some kind of chemical that melts snow?
  20. I thought it was hydroseed but I couldn't figure out why they would put hydroseed down in the winter. Maybe its some kind of winter rye to hold the soil together? That area is supposed to get additional retaining walls and will end up being grass.
  21. So, you meant the ramp will be purple. And praise the lord that the field isn't going to be purple! Yes, I believe the ramp will be purple turf.
  22. No. The Big East will raid the MAC before it gets to anyone like us. UMass, Buffalo (blah), etc. are way ahead of us. We're 15 years from FBS football if ever.
  23. I know I am in the minority, but I kind of like it AmEast football. Anyhow, I do not have "sources", but Monmouth or Wagner to maac makes NO SENSE at all, unless as someone said it is a ploy to get NEC to raise schollies???? Minority is an understatement.
