  1. I took a Look at the National Stats on ESPN some interesting stuff!!

UA has played 6 games against teams ranked in the Top 26 in 3pt FG%, none of them has a losing record

Colgate is ranked # 2 and is 5-4

Rider is ranked # 6 and is 5-4

    Bucknell is # 10 and is 5-4

    Brown is # 23 and is 6-3

NJIT who we played twice is # 26 and is 6-6

0f their 21 combined losses - 9 came against teams from strong conferences - Syracuse, Penn State, St Johns, Wake Forest, Stanford, Georgetown, Providence and Seton Hall and a 10th came against an 8-1 Princeton team

Not counting NJIT (who we beat twice) we are 2-2.

I guess we've got some practice trying to play "D" against good shooting!

If we can get some (a little) consistent perimeter shooting of our own - we may be OK??????

  2. Actually we need alot more consistency from our current back court.

UA's backcourt 7-24 (2-9 from three) - Colgate's backcourt 8-11 (3-4 from three), if the same results happened last year we weren't even going to be in the game. 24 shots at 29% is putrid.

I agree Haas has to step up but and Peter & DJ also have to play solid.

Michael Rowley is still adjusting - in time I think he will be solid this year.

I don't understand how a team goes to the fouls line 40+ times one day and then a couple of days later only gets there twice in the 1st half and 12 times overall when they don't change their approach of attacking the basket.

Even at that UA will not win many games they shoot 6 for 12 from the line. This team has a very small marging of error especially with the 3 ball being absent.

  3. It should be interesting to see how that plays out, but conference play should hurt the RPI less for the women than for the men, because they are playing in a comparatively more competitive league. - Haggyland

The difference should be almost insignificant, the bottom half or two thirds of both are terrible - what will help the Women the most is the Duke game, no matter if it is a W or L it will help their SOS and will be the only team with a winning record in their OOC schedule.

A win aganinst Duke or atleast a very strong showing may get the women some AP Top 25 votes, even a loss verse Duke will help their RPI especially because it's on the road.

  4. I think Mike just like Sam was when he arrived, more concerned about fitting in and being a good teammate and he is just picking up the american style of play.

I'm not sure he was considered PAC 12 but I do remember hearing A10.

I'm just hoping that last nights game lights a fire under him to compete now for more court time.

If Mike and Levan can give us solid minutes we will be much improved.

  5. Beat Duke and those votes will definitely come, get to 14-1 or 15-0 and they will also have to come, be patient.

So true, but it is not like the team is playing patsies and squeezing by in the last minute...this team is winning handily every time.... Haggyland

The fact is they are playing a total schedule of patsies so far, there best win was against Marist who was without their pre season 1st team All MAAC player, if it wasn't for the Marist game the SOS would be closer to 300 then its present 224.

Marist SOS is 3 that's why they get so much respect from the voters.

  6. #40 RPI...check that: at #49 now. I have no clue how they dropped 9 spots this past day.

#8 in the mid-major Top 25, with a first place vote.

    Undefeated at 7-0.

...Still cannot get an AP Top 25 vote. - Haggyland

Look at St Joe's (SOS 18) and Bowling Green's (SOS 132) schedule they each have (I think) 1 vote for the Top 25.

UA (SOS 224) will have to start scheduling better if they want National Recognition in the AP Poll.

UA should end this season with only 1 maybe 2 losses which should get them in the TOP 5 of the Mid Major poll and then they should start getting votes for the AP Top 25. If they beat Duke they'll open some eyes and pick up votes or if they get to 13-1 they should start drawing attention, right now they haven't even played a team with a winning record.

  7. I think it's tough going to Sam sometimes when we give up posessions or even baskets when they are calling travels on him. I know we lost atleast 1 basket and maybe 2 going down low to him.

He's drawing alot of attention (rightfully so) but he has to learn to handle it better.

He has (I believe) 32 turnovers in 8 games as good as is he, he has to make some adjustments.

Sam is an extremely efficient player is all aspects except assist to turnover ratio.

By no means am I blaming Sam for the loss we need him to keep playing hard and we need a few other guys to step up!!!
