I am sure this didn't help down the stretch either:
......UAlbany's misfortune continued when Gary Johnson sprained his ankle with 2:35 to play and was helped from the floor. - from Wilkins article in TU -
0-5 from the field in the last 1:45 can't win close games that way.
Tough for this team to score if Sam only plays 4 min in the 1st half someone elase has to step up
-
Just saw this CB tweet :
Just learned our game this past Saturday was the game with the fewest combined FT's attempted all weekend. So much for new rules
-
It's crazy - the new points of emphasis are tough but it is really tough if you prepare for them and then the referees don't do their job.
But it realy hasn't affected the Danes that much in my opinion. The Danes went to the FTline 56 times in the 1st 2 games (36 vs $iena and 20 vs NJIT who played over 35 minutes of zone) and then only 12 times against a very physicall Q team that played aggressive man to man. "It is what it is!!!
With that said we would have been fine against "Q" but you can't have Hooley and Johnson play 60 minutes and combine for 3 rebounds and DJ and Peter combined to shoot 4 for 16, remember we were only down 3 with 3:20 remaining - while we were down 3 with the ball Hooley missed a drive to the hoop which could have got us closer.
From my view point I thought we lost to a solid team on the road when our perimeter players struggled. I expect DJ and Peter both to be solid contributors and we need them to be.

A major problem in this game was officiating both coaches were pretty much in agreement:
“The officials let us play,” Brown said. “I think that favored them. That game was not based on the new rules, in my opinion. Not only were they bigger and stronger than us, they were more athletic”
Tom Moore, the Quinnipiac, coach, agreed with Brown on that one.
“The refs called in pretty loose, which is in our favor,” Moore said. “This will be one of the games with the fewest called fouls in the country today I would think. But I thought the refs were incredibly consistent in allowing both teams to play inside.”

.....As Football goes, so does the rest of athletics. If we can get that program humming, it'll fund all of the other ones including itself...llko
I don't believe this is accurate.
I totally support Football but Football will never fund itself and all other athletics. A higher profile football is good for the school but will not bring in that type of money.
Just not even a possibility - unless we go FBS and into a major conference with a huge TV contact and I don't believe that will happen anytime soon.

I heard we were involved not sure if it's a done deal yet!
I heard we've been involed with a few over the last several years.

D96 did you forget our newest Aussie Geremy McKay
Very skilled 6'7" PF

Though we stuggled to score it was nice to see 16 assists on 24 baskets - that's sharing the ball!!!

Usually early in the season zones will cause problems. Most teams spend about 70% of their time working against man to man stuff because most teams play primarily man to man "D".
We neeed consistent perimeter shooting to loosen a zone right now DJ is are most consistent perimeter scorer. As Haas gets more comfortable and Peter becomes more consistent from the perimeter the inside will open up, I hope.
Early in the first half Ithought Sam got beat up a little with no calls.
I also think CB trying to find time for a deep bench has some awkward lineups on the floor at times. It's early and I think things will sort themselves out fairly shortly, that's what the non-conferemce is for I think????

They are now trying to compare Lavon Long to Alex Franklin off of Friday's game.
Though, I think Long is a good player I didn't see one iota of Alex Franklin's athleticism out of him, in fact he actually looked a step slow.
As a 4 showed he had no answers for stopping Sam. He was on the floor for 35 minutes and wasn't an impact player
Yet, they are anointing him as the next Alex Franklin!!!!!!!

If any of you want an ENJOYABLE read go to the "Aints" site and read through a couple of their threads and see how their loss had nothing to do with us.
It was their foul shooting, it was their poor 2nd half shooting, it was ticky tack fouls and of course it was their inexperience.
No one talks about why their superior guard play didn't dominate or why their superior athleticism didn't dominate.
No one mentioned how they were going to press us and run on us for 40 minutes.
No one mentioned we hammered them by 28 over the last 30 minutes.
The more I read the more I realized how lucky we were (LMAO)!!!!!!
After having a double digit lead they lost by double digits but we didn't wear them down!!!!
No one mentions after a great start they managed a total of 62 points for the game (the dispictable Mith's team avg 60!!!!)

I thin k we all understand what CB would do if the final decision was his - at worst split the TUC down the middle Green on one side #purplefam on the other!!!

Where is "Big Mouth" $iena Tony Now??????
UA took his youngsters behind the shed for a real butt woopin!!!!!
Tony $iena's Men & Women are not good!!!!
$iena's guards were going to kill us and they shot 0-16 from 3 in the 2nd half
DJ Evans toasted your guards for a 12 points, six steals, 2 assists and ZERO turnovers!
Peter Hooley dropped 17 pts.
Oh Yeah - $iena's guards didn't quite dominate anything.
-
Overall athletics no question UA all the way —men’s and women’s basketball not even close. UA had a better team the last few years but Siena has a far superior program( I know that hurts you UA fans but its the truth dont be bitter - SienaTony
To bad you can't read $T!!!!
Tony at this point in time $iena is behind UA in Men's & Women's Basketball as well as overall athletics.... - PatchTony what I stated is FACT - right now!!!!!
You may not want to admit it - but right now my statement is - TRUTH!!!!
-
Tony at this point in time $iena is behind UA in Men's & Women's Basketball as well as overall athletics.
The one thing you have is an aging, large capital region fan base.
It's tough when that's all you can currently hang your hat on. Our attendance fits right in there with all AE, NEC and MAAC teams (except $iena). "It is what it is" but pretty soon you and the $iena fanatics should stop counting fans and start counting "W"s.

..... It better get better in 2014.- Ruler
Or what???????

Playing zone early in the year for extended periods of time just prolongs the defensive problem unless your committed to playing zone as your primary defense.
Players have to adjust to the whistle.
-
Should be an interesting matchup.
UA seems to have alot of question marks in its backcourt hopefully DJ can run the point smoothly but I don't believe he can "Be like Mike" and who will consistently stretch defenses without a Iati on the court.
Where will our on court leadership come from?

Kenny D'Ags got his 1st win as Head Coach of Ave Maria (Fla.) over Trinity College (Fla.) 73-48
-
Sullivan led for 39 min and 57 sec only to lose by 1.
-
Now playing at Bellamarine University a DII power and last season finished 24-8
In his 1st game against the University of Cincinnati a 84-72 loss:
Tanner started and played 33 minute scoring 11pts shooting 4 of 11 from the floor (icluding 3-6 from three), he had 4 rebs, 4 asst and only 1 TO
-
Butler beat Nova Southeastern 101-64 but Chris page score 18pts in 23 minutes on 6 of 14 from the floor including 2 of 6 from three. He also went 4-4 from the free Throw Line and contributed 4 steals.

Those of you who attend the Purple & Gold let us know your overall thoughts
Bucknell 11/23

Ugly game from a UA perspective but Bucknell is a real solid club their only losses came to Standford and St John's both by 4
I thought there were a couple of times where we were going to get it under 10 and maybe the pressure would have been on Bucknell but every time we got the opportunity we missed a FT or turned the ball over.
I think we missed Johnson tonight not that he would have been a total difference maker but he adds alot of athleticism.
We need help on the perimeter offensively if not the defense will build a tent around Sam.
Hooley I think is going through and adjustment period - last year supplemental player this year go to guy. He's working hard but his decision making ability has to improve.
This is why we have a Non Conf schedule.
