You guys are some picky SOBs

Question: What is that building behind the scoreboard (or what is it supposed to represent?)?

That building is supposed to represent the offices, training room, meeting rooms and academic support services.

where is it to be built? I last heard it will be in what is now the Sefcu Arena parking lot, has the location changed?

Season ticket sales for football will definitely increase!

Gals & Guys ---it's a rendering NOT a reality! Open your wallets, release the moths and we will have Butterfly Stadium filled with Great Danes. It really is a nice rendering--just the right size with plenty of refreshment stands, room for end zone expansion and the lights can go on the future sky boxes---time for bed and more dreams.

Here's the thing. You're right, its not architectural plans, but its more then just a rendering. This is not the first rendering, its the latest of many. Its just the first one released to the public. The site and final design will be determined by the enviro study. Its hard to tell from this drawing but the stadium is actually dug into the ground. The second level is the only thing above ground. Hence the need for an exhaustive enviro study. You can't just dig a bowl style stadium without knowing exactly where the water table is, amongst other things.

More details. Looks like the enviro study may be done by May. Interesting. I drove past campus yesterday on the Western Ave side and thought to myself that the current Football practice fields would be the perfect spot for the stadium. Think about driving up Western Ave at night and looking in to see a 15,000 seat stadium filled to capacity. The field would have to go North/South which would leave the open end zone facing the Western Ave entrance. That would be sweet.

Good article about Citadel AD donating $100,000 to their stadium fund.

So in public school salary terms that would mean McElroy would need to donate, what like $1000? Just kidding, but it sounds like a good motivational tool for donors to me.

Meanwhile RPI wants to break ground this August on their own 7,500-seat football stadium (though the doc for selling naming rights says 4,500 Multi-Purpose Stadium )

Part of a $90 million upgrade of all their athletic facilities.

RPI to develop athletic facilities

Hurts our argument that an Albany stadium is needed for community use, though the city of Albany would still like to use it.

7,500 is more than triple RPI's current football attendance, so 10-12,000 seats for our stadium looks comparable.
