National Signing Day (Feb 4) upcoming

Recommended Posts

NOLI signing day is next Wednesday (Feb. 4th).

Has anyone heard anything about any verbal commits? I haven't and I haven't found anything with a quick google search.

What are people's expectations? Will there be a release of signings this year?

One of the NJ papers is saying Camden Catholic's Eddie Tretina is coming to Albany. He's a 220 lb linebacker. Nothing official that I've seen though.

Some good football down there. An early 08 article has him listed as a kid with a lot of CAA, Ivy and Patriot interset.

Listed as 6', 220lbs - the kid looks like ball player.

Dane Pound - please edit this post if the picture is too big. My browser automatically resizes it, but I'm not sure that happens for everyone.

Another one and a good one at that:

Kadeem Williams

http://blog.nj.com/hudsonhssports/2009/01/...select_col.html

OL - 6'8", 340lbs (listed as 6'6 in some places) - big

#185 OL in the US according to ESPN

ESPN recruiting page with a video (He's #55 in white)

http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/...26season%3d2009

Also listed as one of the top players in NJ by ESPN Rise.

As per AGS, two Iona transfers. I believe these kids can play right away because Iona dissolved its program. Quoted comments are those from an Iona fan.

P Bobby Woods...So.

"He set the school record the longest punt in Iona history, 76 yards I believe."

Stats from last year:

2 for 6 FG's with a 45 yarder.

22 of 24 of PATs

Averaged 39 yards per punt, which is decent.

LB Eugene Horan...Fr.

"Had a major impact on special teams his frosh year...Tough kid who just loves to hit people"

Looking at the video, Kadeem Williams looks painfully slow to me.

Me too, but you can't teach size and I can't even imagine what Nguti looked like when he was in high school. Coach Ford once described him as literally tripping over his own feet when he walked. Fordie turned him into an all-american and a potential draft pick.

Hopefully Williams can follow the same path.

Another O-lineman:

Adam Geleta, Sr. Shenendehowa - Offensive Lineman 6'3", 285lbs. Good size for a center.

Geleta is not done playing football in the Capital Region just yet – he is verbally committed to play for the Great Danes at the University at Albany. He played center on a solid Shenendehowa line and guided the Plainsmen to a 5-1 record in Empire Division games. He was named the Plainsmen’s Most Outstanding Lineman as a junior and won the school’s George Angley Leadership award. Geleta played in the 2008 Senior Bowl and was an Empire Division first team center. He also wrestles and was named Shenendehowa’s Most Outstanding Wrestler in 2006.

Second Team All-state AA.

Times Union First Team.
