Assuming the track stays where it is:

Track: $850,000

Track Seating: $475,000

Track Infield: $1 million

Track Lighting: (needed?)

Track Press Box: $300,000

Track Utilities: $300,000

Track Scoreboard/PA: ????

Multi-Use:

Synthetic field turf with drainage system: $1.45 million

Spectator seating (including cast-in-place concrete seating footings, columns, beams, raker beams, steps, pre-cast concourse area, handrails and aluminum: $475 or so a seat...so $2.925 Million

1,000 stadium chairs at 50-yard line on home side: $100,000

Press box: $3.5 million

Elevator tower (including masonry, machine room and storage room): $350,000

Sidewalk Paving: $125,000

Plaza Lighting: $125,000

Field House (Phase 2?)

Concessions/ Restrooms: $3 million

Scoreboard: (???)

Utilities (relocation and construction): $500,000

Parking (another phase)

Pavillion (fountain another phase)

I get to $15.125mm. Have to think the scoreboards/PA will get to around $400,000. So figure just over $15.5mm for both complexes. Put in the 10% contingency/change orders and you get Around 17mm...a bit over what we have.

Anybody know what Cortland or RPI's stadiums cost? That should give us a good idea at what Phase I could be bringing us. Both are around the 6000 seats the RFQ asks for in Phase I.

A Jets Insider said the Cortland football complex cost $18 million in 2002. RPI's stadium is hard to tell; cost is folded into the $114 million East Athletic Village project, which included a basketball arena, offices and a lot of other stuff.

Lot's of options out there...and I am starting to feel better about this. All similar in size, scope and dollars:

With regards to the Cortland Complex, indeed...it did cost $18mm (insanely close to my estimate based on research). Here is a list of the amenities. What I think is notable is the inclusion of the lockerrooms (probably a cool $2mm)

Personally, I say skip the lockerooms...utilize the current set up...spend more on the stands, towers, concessions, restrooms...and then in the next phase you can build the endzone complex under "academic buildings" considering it was always intended to include the academic support centers.

I have to imagine we could cut out a lot of the cost associated with Cortland's A-frame design also. The stands that UA would put up for the track stadium would be very simple alluminum bleachers on the hill side I assume. Similar to the JFF bleachers, but smaller and probably without the colored detail.

Anyone know how much JFF cost?

This is probably the best example.

Augustana's new football stadium will provide seating for approximately 4,200 fans on the west stands and another 2,000 on the east bleachers. An additional 800 fans can be accommodated on the berms behind the north and south end zones. Reserve your seats in the Stadium as a benefit of your membership in the Augustana Athletic Club.

Expected date of completion is summer 2009, with the first game on Saturday, September 5, at 1 p.m. against Emporia State (Kan.).

This $11 million facility has been made possible by the generosity of Bob and Kari Hall and others who have long dreamed of bringing football back to campus after a 52-year hiatus. The Vikings played their home games at Howard Wood Field on the city's north side since 1957.

Sitting atop the seating on the west side are eight suites on the first level and two on the upper level, press boxes for radio, television and print media, home and visiting coaching staffs, statisticians, scoreboard/video board operations and public address announcer

$11 million.

Yup...that is exactly what I thought when i saw it. You put that facility in...add a deck the next phase...and bam..you have 8,400 seats and the berms. Next phase...you put in on endzone with the academic center and other offices (sans deck for now). Following phase...put in the other lower bowl seats. Now you have a place that sits about 11,000...and built in four phases. I we need to go get two more decks...well, then we are probably doing well financially with the fan portion of ticket sales...and a push could be made for that.

But 11,000 seats in six years would suit me fine.

Debbie Downer time: While any project would be better than the current playing conditions, I still feel that without openly committed and passionate leaders any completed project will be a tragic disappointment when compared to the concept designs.

How well does this bode for us? There is a new addendum to the RFQ lowering the minimum amount of previously completed stadiums from 5 to 2.

Maybe UA wasn't getting much response?

"Interested firms shall include one brief written project description sheet for each of a minimum of two (2) completed football facilities or multi-use athletic field/track venue projects with a construction value of similar size and scope as the one outlined in this RFQ document at an NCAA Division I collegiate, or at a professional sports level."

Maybe to speed up the process? Narrow it down to 2 alternatives.

Addendums are regular to RFP's...and quite frankly, the addendum was probably made simply because the Responses are due in such a short time frame that the bidders probably said, "Would you rather us get a solid proposal in your hands at the due date...or do you want a delay for useless information, i.e. written descriptions, of five plans that have no bearing on the project at hand since no two projects are similar to one another."

Ding Ding...Danefan hit the nail on the head while I was typing.

Move along folks...there is nothing wrong with the Addendum...no alarms. If anything, it actually enforces the fact that UA is actually doing this.
