Maguire's commentary today opens with a note that Albany could, if not should, make the NCAA playoffs. The last time they did that Ford was in only his eighth season as Great Dane coach. That was 1977, Albany beat Hampden-Sydney in the first round before losing to eventual champion Widener.

If we do win out as we should and make the playoffs, it will be very interesting to see how the TU handles this. Anyone remember the coverage they gave to RPI during its playoff run?

 

Granted they did make it to the quarters, but if I remember correctly it was pretty extensive coverage throughout the playoffs.

True football people realize that Albany would beat an allstar team from both Union and RPI combined by @ least 40 points. This season it would be a bloodbath for either RPI or Union. But you are correct there are those who do not realize the seperation that exists.

 

I remember going to the Union-Albany game in 1997 or 98. UA was DII and Union was a decent DIII squad. I think the final was like 52-0 in favor of UA.Boy was John Audino pissed. I am not sure he shook hands with Ford after the game.

Thanks for the polls df. Is it that the coaches and their poll don't have enough time to really pay attention to what's going on?

Seems as though there's a large difference compared with the other polls.

 

BTW, looks as though the ladies beat Hartford in the semis in soccer.

AS DF has asutely points out, Jackson State in any poll...let alone in the Top 15 is a disaster.
