First conference game of the year... UMBC is 2-11 and one of those wins was a DIII team.........however their other win Towson, is interesting as Towson beat Vermont and Oregon State.

Can't disagree with anything they said. They did not beat any of the top 3 teams last year. Hopefully we take care of business tonight ad steal one on the road saturday.

Albany women were leading 41-21 - and then went on a 29-point run. Outrebounded UMBC 55-19. Megan Craig had 18 points in 16 min. Ebone Henry 25 points.

 

At the men's game I liked all the assists - 12 assists for 20 made baskets - five for Hooley, 2 for DJ, 3 for Black. The 16 turnovers not so much.

Nice start. I still wish the big guys could add more to the offensive game. A balanced attack would drive every opponent nuts. And, what about the women! Wow!

The bigs looked tight - missing layups / jump hooks early then seemed to drop out of O once the Aussies came in. Once again, Iati provides spark in first half - they ran some nice off ball screens for him early.

Did you see the 1st half in the 1st 10 minutes the danes Bigs missed 5 or 6 shots within 5 foot and if we converted the game would have been over by the half.

 

The opportunities are there - the bigs just have to do a better job converting.

 

With that said Metcalf, Puk and Rowley gave us 14pts and 19 boards (which is solid) but went 6 of 15 from the floor (all but 1 shot inside 5 ") and 2 of 6 from the FT line. When they convert better, we will have more balance.

 

Black and Iati combined shot 8 of 17 so I think UA has more offensive balance then people think - what we need now is more offensive efficiency from the bigs .

Metcalf, Puk & Rowley 15 shots 14pts.

Yes, I was there. If the could hit the "simple" shots the Danes would pose a threat to just about any team. Incidentally, I know it is harder than it looks.
