That's putting it out on the table. I'm not sure I fully understand all the implications of these requests, but I know this:

1. More land is essential - Dr. Jones demanded it

2. Better professional degree offerigns are essential - Dr. Jones demanded it and the flexibility to do so could add law and medical even though he doesn't specifically say that.

3. Non-compete agreement with Nano (e.g., no competitive degree offerings) are essential - he demanded it

I don't understand the research foundation allocation, but it sounds like we've been getting hosed for a long time.

There are different indirect cost rates for research vs. training grants and contracts. Obviously, research facilities are more costly and have more overhead so they recover more costs. If RNA grows as hoped this will increase IC cost recovery.

Cost allocation is not done based on actual cost then? It is a formulaic approach with standardized rates regardless of actual cost?

Does the part about the Memorandum of Understanding mean UA will charge CSNE for supporting their campus? Does that include dorms for the CSNE students, food, facilities usage on UA campus, etc.. or are they going to create their own across the street?

CNSE pays now and that appears to be contemplated as a continued relationship.

Seems from the letter Jones wants that to be revisited and hopefully increased.

Another question. From the article: "To this day, the University at Albany Foundation remains equal founding partners with the SUNY Research Foundation in the nonprofit Fuller Road Management Co., which owns the sprawling complex."

Does this mean that if they go out on their own they will buy out the UA Foundation for the property and buildings that are on the CSNE campus?

Good article.

The split will happen but the key is the terms. Does UA get fair compensation and treatment for losing such a huge asset or will they get the shaft? Articles like this shine a light on the loss and hopefully set UA for a fair deal (compensation, land and a new college)
