BestDane...Honestly, I think you have been way off. This has nothing to do with in-game defensive adjustments. We have NEVER been a good perimeter defending team. We've chosen a style of defense that always has led to to teams being challenged to hit the three. We don't play zone, and when we do, it's a matchup zone.

This is who we are...and it's been a bit more of an issue this year for whatever reason (injury, juco's, frosh). We have personnel that is man based. We don't have long athletic players...

You are defending a coach for never being able to defend the perimeter? Doesn't that show a flaw in their coaching? Mid-major basketball is all about shooting, unless you have that rare monster inside.

That's like defending a coach for saying he's a bad recruiter but does well with what he has. If your teams are historically bad at something, you probably should be looking at your methods and adapting.

Albany really coming out strong.

I honestly think the AE refs don't know how to "ref" Sam Rowley. Most leagues, these are non-fouls/travels.

UA has come out strong in the second half but lets put this out there...Maine may be the worst defensive teams we've seen all year. We are open inside, open outside...open everywhere. That team is clueless...UA to their credit is taking advantage of it properly.

Ummmm...yes, yes I am, Best Dane Since Hamlet. Coaches pick styles. Go watch Syracuse-- they can't play man worth a $iena. They recruit players to play the zone. When they run into trouble is when team kills the zone with great shooting and ripping through zone gaps.

It's the same in football-- you have teams built for different things. There's only so many adjustments you can make with the personnel you recruit with your style.

The loss of Odunisi was huge. He and Gary Johnson are lock down perimeter defenders. Having those two on the floor would have helped our ability to defend the three. Right now, we only have one guy--Johnson--who can really defend the perimeter. DJ is quick, but he's too small for that kind of defense.

Agreed.

But if Syracuse is consistently getting killed by playing zone, they change the defense, even if they don't have the horses for it. At least they attempt to change schemes.

In football, if you are a run first team, and the defense keeps stopping the run, you change things up, go with play action, etc, or you end up in the broadcast booth.
