Pre Season Ranking by Athlon Sports

We are #20.

20. Albany

(7-4, 4-4 CAA)

A return to form by junior running back Elijah Ibitokun-Hanks (1,401 rushing yards, 16 TDs), who suffered a torn ACL in the season’s final game, is vital for the Great Danes as they come off their best season since joining the CAA in 2013. They need improved play at quarterback to avoid being one of the last two teams left out of the playoff field again.

College Sports Journal picks Albany fourth in conference

Fearless Prediction: Aside from the fact that Greg Gattusos Great Danes came within a whisker of making the FCS Playoffs last season, you have to like their chances of making a run at the CAA title thanks to some scheduling quirkiness: since the CAA is comprised of 12 teams and they dont all play each other, they dont play James Madison during the regular season. Challenging trips to Delaware and Richmond are still on the schedule, but this up-and-coming team has an excellent shot at a playoff berth.

Coaches poll is a joke. Always is. I watched a lot of those teams play...and at worst, we are in the 30 range. Colgate is nonsense. I watched that game and poly is lucky if they have 5 wins this year. The Big Sky is not very good this season.

Honestly, the CAA is going to be a grind this year. I watched URI...and they almost won their game with 7 turnovers. They clean that up, they won't be a pushover. SBU looked very good (but for QB play) against USF.
