  1. Great Post. I think the entire Albany community will be shocked by the two squads next year. I potentially (in two years) see the same built up enthusiasm as our 93-94 25-3 team.
  2. That is a brutal away sched. Hofstra should be a top 20 team. Brown will challenge in the IVY. RMU will be tough on the Road. Lehigh...PLeague favorite. SHU...gotta respect them. SBU...see 2002...fluke...but they play us tough and the game should get a near sellout.
  3. D2k...don't let that article sway you (on track that is). Binghamton can have the greatest facilities....UA has ROBERTO VIVES. Kids don't go to schools for track facilities...they go for coaches. Example...the kid from the Albany area who is at Wheaton....he is an Olympic High Jumper hopeful (set more records than I can remember). That is why you see so many DIII schools in IA meets. W/ Roberto at the healm...UA will be fine. He has a pipeline into recruits. I train with a Northeastern Husky track coach...they love Roberto...said the man is one of the best recruiters (ironically they were recruiting his daughter away from UA).
  4. Hey Patch...I was at the game...and unless that was lucious...I think Hughes was there. There was a well-built guy sitting next to Jamar and Pipikus that I hadn't seen before. It sort of looked like Hughes...maybe Jordan?
  5. Wishful thinking. This chart is ridiculous though. Payton is at least a fourth-6th rounder....Larry Croom from UNLV is a much better back than the 12 or so guys ahead of him. Jones will get invited to a camp though. LOL...Bruce Perry at 16...that is funny. The guy can't stay healthy. The list doesn't even have Vick King from McNeese State. Ridiculous I tell you! Nor does it have Colgate's TE who most say is an NFL'er. Kirwan Watson is quicker than GARY. I love Gary...and he is tough...but you don't draft 5'10, 215lbs 4.55 40 TB's. He will be a special teams pick up. Very similar to Keith Elias. Still cool that Jones got listed. And I hope he proves me wrong.
  6. Was it him or his wife...someone wanted to get closer to family. I could have sworn i read that. Prof...is he from that area? I am almost positive that one of them had family there.
  7. He was a good guy. Dont really know what he was thinking when he left (said his wife wanted to be near home...but I am not buying).
  8. Pioneer does not. They play a conference championship. With the 'Aints gone, Marist and St. Peter's likely to be next....followed by IONA...MID MAJOR FOOTBALL IS DEAD. It is two confernces and like 18 teams. I think most of these schools left will have to make serious choices about dropping football or moving up. Dukes are already talking Patriot. I think you will see the end of mid-major football by 2007 or 2008. It is a useless designation. The "DAYTON RULE" will cause a lot of teams to drop out. (THAT WAS THE RULE SAYING DIII must BE DIII and IA must be IA or IAA in football)
  9. Patch...good pts. I will be at the game...anyone else...let me know!
  10. TOO ALL THOSE WHO WROTE NEGATIVE STATEMENTS...YOUR sienafans...FLAT OUT. Professor...you are a hoop guru....I will giveyou that...but strap on pads before you talk. We lost to NU...i was at the game...the score was not indicative of the game...this is the same NU team that gave NATIONAL CHAMPS DELAWARE there only loss of the year. FACT----UA HOOP HAS HAD TO CLIMB OUT OF A HOLE FACT---DOC LEFT THIS PROGRAM WITH GREAT OPPORTUNITY FACT- BEETEN DESTROYED HOOP FACT-- UA LAX, SOCCER, TRACK and FIELD, and FOOTBALL are THAT MUCH BETTER THAN HOOP! FACT---WE ARE A HOOP SLEEPING GIANT! YOU GUYS ARE ALL POSERS....PERIOD! IF you want to be pasrt of a hoop only school go to SIENA! DP...get back to me ASAP about my TCET email..please!
  11. Artavious Fisher verballed to Siena. Prof...I have heard you talk a bit about him. Personally, I think he is going to a league that is a step up for him. He would have been a decent AE player...but I dont think the MAAC is his level. Then again if you look at Jamar, slight of build, no one would have expected his numbers.
  12. I will be honest...I don't know the kids names. But I know we got a kid from Ithaca who was very highly rated...about 6'1 190. Speed demon. We got a transfer (soph) from Toledo...obviously this kid had something to get a scholly from Toledo. They also got a big kid, 6'3 or so...from LI. I know that at the time Fordie said this is the biggest and fastest group he has ever had (receiver wise). That is saying alot if you think in the past 5 years we had studs like Gemelin and Chris Phillis. The problem I see is the QB situation. I really hope he has something up his sleeve. Checked out the kid from Siena...not great numbers...but a true frosh from Bayport...always good football down there. Siena was very small...but I am sure that we will grab some. I noticed Siena's kicker...a glaring prob for us. 11-12 PAT's (they didnt score much) and very good FG numbers...hit a 47 yarder. I would think we make a move for this kid...he is from Newburgh.
  13. Hey, I would have to assume UA will get a bunch of kids from the SIENA football team. This could be a coup...even though they sucked...they did have some talent. Any idea if they have a decent QB???? Hmmm...FORDIE...it is shopping time!!!
  14. I called a buddy. Looks like Siena football is in the morgue. Too much money necessary...even from that rich donor. Would be more of a kick in the ass to their fans when we bet them in hoop...being that the football dollars will probably be funneled to hoop!
  15. that was re-sent..not resent! Sorry DP!
  16. Some of the fans are very cool...some clueless...I resent the email to you DP...you will understand how it relates to this post. Some of their fans are clueless. Petr Burda plays professionally in the Czech Rep. Kareem Quattara plays in France. Ted Hotaling played for Plymouth, along with Andy Goodemote.
  17. I think this is a good step. We need tradition. A banner would be nice. Maybe it is time to honor the 03-04 team as well. But that would be too smart...a ten year reunion for arguably the best UA squad (not talent...take it easy) ever. Team was 25-4 and 2 pts from the Final Four. Trust me, locals would come see Graber, Hotaling, Gary Murray, Fitzgerald, et. al get honored.
  18. Agreed. Back in the Elite 8 run, we averaged about 1800 for teams like St. John Fisher, Oneonta, etc. I would think name schools would get that number up to 2500 if we are above 500.
  19. Hey..check your PM Patch....DP, check your email. -Dane96
  20. Nope...but holy crap...UA is just getting hogs. Generally lineman throw on about 15-30 lbs before they are done. The thing that impresses me...and is impt., is the height. UA used to get a bunch of 6 or 6'1 guys who weighed alot. Mostly these guys were fat. Now we are getting some height...very impt. for lineman at this level.
  21. DP...here is the team link...dont know if you want to post it up on the board. There are some good pics of Todd from the Brighton and Scotland game. Seems like the fans like him more now. http://www.tvtigers.co.uk/fixtures.php#
  22. I will tell you what...it must impress other coaches in the league that our squad can hang when so undermanned. There havent been too many games that we have been out of. A couple of breaks here and there...and we could be 5-9 or 6-8...instead of 3-11. I have to give our players and coaches alot of credit. The payoff will come in the next two years. Professor, that is great to hear about Hughes. I have to think he will make some difference in a few games later in the season. We may get to the 6-7 win level with him. Sounds like Wyatt was a beast tonite. He seems to be playing with more aggressiveness in his last two games. Martin seemed to have a decent game as well. Knotts...still an enigma....ahhh. Hey...thought Courtney may not see alot of time next year...it is refreshing to know that there wont be a huge drop off after Wilson, Jordan, Iati, Bauman....if we need to go to three guards. You guys think he stays or transfers?
  23. "One thing for sure, being from South Dakota the weather around here shouldn't scare him off. " No...but the big buildings and lack of antelope might!!!
