  1. Someone with contacts in the athletics dept should ask them to throw it up on YouTube.
  2. Not much visible activity. Work on the scoreboard stopped and they haven't done anything with the visitors side yet. We're 9-weeks away from opening day.
  3. ` Personally I'll have to see it to believe it...we had a good basketball product the last two years and attendance was average at best...I know it's kind of an apples to orange comparison but I'll have to see it to believe it. Better competition in the CAA, Saturday afternoon games, brand new facility. I'm not optimistic about the students yet...but I think you will see very strong local support.
  4. It will draw...and you will see more and more state championships in many different sports being held at BFF due to the central location of Albany and the ease of travel to/from.
  5. Exactly. Seems to me that it's much harder to get something like this off the ground, but now that it's up the battle to upgrade will be easier. I am going to take a very optimistic view and say we upgrade in some fashion within 5 years. If local support is there and they can prove that a facility like this has high market value via ticket sales and corporate sponsorships then we have a clear road to 27k. There is nothing else like this in the market.
  6. I agree with your assessment...he said 18k addition = 27k Phase 2 total!!! AWESOME!!!
  7. I wonder how much they saved by not having bleacher backs. Seems like a worthy upgrade
  8. Well, you have to give the dude credit...he has built a world-class institution from basically nothing. I think he does deserve a high degree of autonomy, but I don't really understand the need to break off from the main university. Isn't there some middle-ground here? Why would Kaloyeros want to add additional levels of bureaucracy that could get in the way of his main mission?
  9. Well, they haven't even reported on it....so there you go.
  10. BTW, no doubt another reason why we're ""staying in the ae"
  11. I like the emphasis on NEW YORK, but the outline of the state is huge! Not a fan. Rutgers doesn't emphasize New Jersey and they have instant recognition. Keep plugging "Albany" and we can do the same. Maybe drop the U.
  12. New pics are up on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.416046725121424.93907.113363358723097&type=3
  13. Maybe a little of something else too, but I don't think it's that out-of-line..seriously. They've been debating what to do with that area since I attended in the 90's and probably even longer than that. Considering how the area just west is flourishing, it's a perfect opportunity to make use of that land for an enterprise that is actually generating $$ for the state and community. Albany and UA has the opportunity to be the next Austin and UT if they develop this area correctly.
  14. PIE IN THE SKY IDEA: Demolish the Harriman Campus and in its place build a new main campus for UAlbany...only this time, make it traditional with brick and ivy, etc. Convert the current campus into the nano college but keep it affiliated with UA. The modernistic architecture fits the mission and gives them plenty of room to grow. So now you have a modern (some would say ugly, but not me ) campus for the technology-centered side and a traditional, "pretty" campus for the liberal arts and business side. Just spit-balling here
  15. Honestly, Elon is one reason why I don't want to move to the CAA. We have zero in common with that school.
  16. AndrewSantillo CAA commissioner Tom Yeager will hold teleconference at 315 pm today to answer questions on conference membership
  17. There is one important factor to consider: The AE provides us a much better chance of making it into national tournaments. I think the move into the CAA is a great decision if we have the same commitment to success, but it will take time.
