I agree that we could use an upgrade in some way, but please no mascots on the helmets...especially Scooby, ugh. Always been a fan of Washington's take on Purple & Gold but it's probably too similar to JMU: Also like their mascot logo...wish we could refresh the Great Dane to something like this:

Video of the press conference is up on UAlbanysports.com for those who couldn't catch it live at work (like me). I have to say, I was grinning ear to ear watching the video. This is such a huge step forward for us, and to have accomplished this in such a relatively short amount of time is HUGE. We were Division 3 when I attended UA 15 years ago and I always knew we could be so much more. To actually see it happen is just. friggen. AWESOME!

woot woot! Mad props to McElroy. I know we give him $iena here often but he deserves serious credit for positioning UA for this HUGE jump. Under Bob Ford's leadership, I can't wait to see us seriously kick some major ass in this conference. Nothing would bring me greater joy than to see us hand JMU a serious defeat on our field or theirs (yes, I've been following the threads on their CAA Zone board...nice work danefan and D96 representing).

What's interesting to me, and as mentioned in the article, is that someone at UA leaked this information to the TU. The school no doubt wanted to keep this list under wraps as it could have negetive implications for those pursuing the job. The same thing happened during the last search and we all know how that turned out (all of the candidates dropped out). Now SUNY-IT is denying that its President is up for the UA gig. It's true. It's shameful that we haven't even submitted our proposal yet. We should all be writing to Phillips to express our disapointment and outrage. I'll be sure to let them know the next time I get a call for a donation

There are some truly awesome things happening at UA. Between RNA, Nano and Business, this school will be in a different league in a few years. Exciting to watch! Hopefully they keep the momentum going with a new President.

I dont think they'd want any part of the NEC, why would they? This is a third tier conference at best, regardless of what they finally decide on scholorships. We should GTFO asap.
