  1. Not to veer this thread off-course, but the below article states that the 5-year contract with Sodexho is valued at $170,000. $34k a year to feed 17k students? That seems really low to me. No wonder everyone always complains about the food at UA! http://www.bizjournals.com/albany/blog/2013/04/chartwells-will-lay-off-more-than-400.html
  2. Ha...or maybe Freshman are just that destructive. It's a $25MM project apparently. Found this if anyone is interested: http://www.dasny.org...tudy Report.pdf http://www.albany.edu/facilities/fp/mohawktower.html with pics
  3. Thanks Haggy...great pics! I love the last shot with the pond in the foreground. This thing is going to look incredible when it's completed. Also looks like they're doing some major work to Mohawk tower.
  4. There seems to be a fair amount of activity in the field area today. Getting ready to lay the turf soon?
  5. Reading between the lines, it appears that this is a done deal. What a load of crap. I wish someone would come out and explain how this would actually be a good thing for the University. How is it taking resources away from other departments? And exactly how is adding another bureaucracy, and the millions of dollars that goes with it, an acceptable solution?
  6. Found it on another board. I don't mind as much about the party ranking as I do the academic one. I know UA is a much better school than we get credit for.

  8. Excellent. Thanks for posting...and yes, I believe there will be a Great Dane at the top. Will people be allowed to sit in that grassy area around the tunnel?
  9. Are there any other stadiums with a player's ramp like that? Not sure I really "get it". Will they cover it over during game days and make it a pseudo tunnel?
  10. Not a fan of the AlbaNY logo. Looks weird to me. The University of New York would be ideal IMO. Simple and classy. Wish we could get approval to do that. It's BS that we can't...the University centers should have autonomy in these matters, especially when the SUNY colleges often brand themselves as Universities...like SUNY at Brockport.
  11. Congrats to the team for sweeping SBU in their doubleheader. Great wins

  13. That was a point that Pres Jones made recently, that student/faculty support was lacking. Hopefully they can find new ways to get butts in the seats. These programs deserve it!

  15. Really? A Northeast mid-sized public with excellent facilities in the heart of the conference footprint. Remind who else you would have added??? I'd rather see the AE try to poach back some of their former members. If the CAA is indeed folding then that would put the AE at an advantage to entice them back and create a stronger conference. Why the rush to add a D2 program? Just shows a lack of vision IMO. I could be off base but that's how I feel.
  16. Good point. That being said, will it be the same launching pad after losing these programs? Who knows, but the AE will almost certainly never be.
  17. hard to answer. depends on what kind of caa we'd be getting into. I am really happy with caa football but I can go either way with the remaining sports. not thrilled with what is happening with the caa but also wish the ae had some vision. adding umass-lowell proves they are not ready to take it to the next level.
  18. Didn't want to start a new thread, but here is yet another example of the TU taking swipes at us any chance they get. Apparently the University is selling the home it owns for acting Presidents, and the last paragraph includes quotes from the previous owners who are critical of the changes the school made to it. Give me a break! http://www.timesunio...25K-4392049.php
  19. Probably old news at this point but JMU expected to accept an invitation to the Sun Belt http://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2013/3/27/4153740/college-conference-realignment-wku-jmu-cusa-sun-belt
