  1. This from College Hoops NetOnions column: College Basketball: Games to Watch Games you can’t or won’t watch but should New Hampshire at Albany. We’ll give a call again to the Wildcats here as they take on the A-East leaders. Great Danes guard Jon Iati is Gerry McNamara minus about 10%.
  2. While I haven't done it myself I know the UA ticket office has helped people get tickets for away games. I'm not sure if there is an Albany allotment or not. Judging from the way Bing has drawn this year I'd call ahead to secure tickets for yourself. We are a big game for them and the Events Center will probably be pretty full. Have a good trip.
  3. I'm pretty sure Gifford did play some AAU last year. Brown first saw him play at a AAU tournament and I think it was over the some that some other schools got interested. I haven't been able to find any stats on him but is high school team is #1 in their class in Missouri.
  4. You can if you really want to. Will it help you root out communism?
  5. Today's TU has a story about the very talent class of local high school juniors. I don't know that UA is recruiting any of these guys but it would be great to bring in a local player especially considering Lu will be graduating. I remember when Gallup and Todd Cetnar was here it seemed half of the Amsterdam area came to the RACC on game nights. Junior Achievers-TU
  6. It was surprising watching that Episcipal game that Yocum has lead the team in scoring a couple of times this year. If Ellington and Henderson ever get sick of the ACC and want to rejoin their high school teammate at UA I'm sure Will Brown can find a spot for them. I agree with you 96. This team won't be falling off a cliff next season. I'm guessing you mean Michael Knight when you talk about guards for next year. He is supposedly to be able to play either guard spot. I easily see Siggers sliding into Lou's role next season if he can get Brown's confidence. He really has all the tools offensively to be good and can jump out of the gym. Never having seen Gifford play I'm giving the early spot to Covington. The few times I've seen him get the ball in the post he is pretty creative down low.

  8. When we have a bad offensive night we don't go halfway. Surprising after they seemed to execute so well the last couple of games. Hopefully Brent's hand heals quickly because tonight demonstrated how much they've come to rely on him.
  9. I'll be in the chat room if anybody's interested in chatting.
  10. I'd like that too but Buffalo is a road team this year also. 11 of the 50 games are televised by ESPN-6 on ESPN and ESPN2 and the other 5 on ESPNU. I'm guessing they would pick those 11 by RPI. According to the link GoDanes provided Albany is 19th with a week and a half to go before the pairings date.
  11. Yikes. It's amazing how tough this conference is this year on the women's side. Currently 9th in RPI with 4 teams with an RPI of 75 or lower.
  12. I agree that it would be best to try and avoid playing them in Bing. Hopefully though this team is confident enough by the end of the season that they can beat anyone in the conference no matter where. Personally I'm hoping for the #1 seed because I'd really like to avoid making two trips to Binghamton. One is more than enough.
  13. I will too. Did you ever think you'd be watching an Albany recruit on ESPN?

  15. While I wouldn't mind one of those schools I was actually hoping it wouldn't be a MAAC school. Some of the fun of this game is that you're guaranteed a home game against them next year. Since the MAAC schools are already coming to Albany next year to play Siena I was hoping we'd get someone different in the area. We don't have a great RPI so I'm not sure we'll get a premium game but there are some interesting choices out there. Some compelling matchups for this year and next: Hofstra Northeastern or for recruiting purposes one of the midwest schools Miami (Ohio) Loyola (Illinois) Southern Illinois Here's the whole list of home teams: Austin Peay, Ball State, Boise State, Bowling Green, Bradley, Cal State-Fullerton, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, Central Michigan, College of Charleston, Cleveland State, Creighton, Drexel, Eastern Illinois, Eastern Kentucky, Evansville, Hawaii, Hofstra, Jacksonville State, Kent State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Loyola (Ill.), Loyola (Md.), Manhattan, Miami (Ohio), Montana, Montana State, Murray State, Nevada, Northeastern, Northern Iowa, Ohio, Old Dominion, Pacific, Saint Mary’s (Calif.), Saint Peter’s, San Jose State, Southern Illinois, Utah State, Valparaiso, Virginia Commonwealth, Western Kentucky, Western Michigan, Wichita State, Winthrop, UW-Green Bay and UW-Milwaukee.
  16. I'd have to think Bing is feeling pretty good right now. They're 4-1 in conference and have only played one home game so far with 7 of their next 11 in Vestal. That UVM-Maine game is surprising. I think Maine was still playing with Bafia who is still suspended. Perhaps the Catamounts were looking ahead to Wednesday's game.
  17. Probably not the best way to get yourself on ESPN. I remember a couple of years ago before the AE Tourney their former coach went nuts and got suspended. Must be something in the water down there. UMBC=U Might Be Crazy
  18. You must work up a sweat getting on the officials they way you do. I know when I can hear they MUST hear you. I have to say I haven't seen a coach look more annoyed with an 18 point lead (well, maybe Coach K) than Brown didn with a couple of minutes left last night. You could tell he wanted them to run some clock and maybe get the starters out whenthey hoisted up a couple of quick shots at the end. I have to say I was second guessing leaving everybody in for so long. When the second group had three turnovers in 45 seconds that lead to a couple of UVS layups I understood his decision a little better.
  19. Good catch spotting him. After reading your post last night I thought maybe he would have been mentioned in one of the local stories or on TV. I didn't see anything on him though. Speaking of Yocum here's a few things on him from one of the PA papers: "Those future opponents are mistaken if they think stopping EA merely entails slowing down the dynamic duo of Ellington and Henderson. Senior Mike Yocum continues to step up his play in the post, scoring 16 points against the Fords. Yocum's work on the defensive end and on the glass was solid as well. John Haldy, shadowed by Ellington most of the day, paced the Fords with 14 points. Notes: Henderson made up for a sub-par shooting performance by hitting two free throws to ice it with 18 seconds left, leading Episcopal to a 58-54 victory over Penn Charter in Saturday's Inter-Ac season-opening tripleheader played at Arcadia University. Yocum, who wowed the crowd with a pair of dunks, picked up the slack by scoring 15 points."
  20. I was glad to see Brown bring in some fresh troops after that lackluster start. Levi took that opportunity and ran with it. Easily the best I've seen him play this year. He is really starting to come on the last couple of games. Not just playing hard but making smart passes and shooting amazing. 17pts, 10 rebounds and 5 assists with a block.
  21. Great job being positive when things were looking down. I was thinking I'd revise this post after tonights game but Statefan beat me too it.
  22. I see what you're saying about being BU being overrated. I guess I didn't look at it that way. From some of the posts on the AE board I was guessing there is some BU fatigue going around the conference over the past few years. Especially considering their style of play which some people finds lacks excitment to put it mildly.
  23. As usual nothing insightful from me. I did see a few things about Albany recruiting Boykins before the surgery this spring. Your link was the first I saw about them being interested again. A 6'3 pure point guard would be nice. I know we've talked about the PG spot before. I actually forgot that Michael Knight is supposed to be able to play the point as well although I don't think he's a pure PG and is playing SG at his Juco school.
