Great find Statefan As Alumni92 and I were discussing yesterday this seemed far-fetched as short as two years ago in Boston when Albany was in the play-in game in front of pretty much no one. There were probably more people at the Events Center yesterday than at the RACC most home games that year. Now the RACC will likely sell-out by tomorrow afternoon.

As you can imagine that was the topic of conversation with some Albany fans. The word did get out. Tougher to find info on the lacrosse game. What happened?

Howdy gents, checking in from Bing. According to people at the tourney Hermenier had a foot injury. We'll probably get the rest of the story in the paper tomorrow. Tough loss for them if he's out again on Sunday. Nice crowd for Albany tonight lots of fun. Jamar seemed like he was forcing it a bit but came up big with free throws to ice it. Lu was the truth, really impressive tonight. As Olddog said Brown seemed to rotate a lot of players trying to keep everyone fresh. Lu was fantastic but there were contributions from just about everyone. A good showing and hopefully everyone plays a little better tomorrow.

You guys said what I was thinking about the Adeleke statement. I agree with his thought on it but was sorry to see it in the paper. In any event great recognition for Jamar, Zo and Brent. Congrats to them. Hopefully we'll see one or more of them on the all-tourney team. Another place no Albany men's player has been! Tourney weekend is finally here!

From this week's Onions column: "-Here’s hoping Albany wins the America East tourney just so the country can see Jamar Wilson, one of the most exciting players anywhere. Wilson’s shaking and baking almost single-handedly got the Great Danes past Virginia Commonwealth in their BB game. He is a tremendous talent on a team with a number of players who can come up big against any given opponent. Also a fan of the other Wilson on Will Brown’s team, Brent Wilson. The sophomore has a nice touch and does a little of everything, reminiscent of former Vermont utilityman extraordinaire Grant Anderson of a few years ago. He’s the kind of glue player with size and skills that many teams at Albany’s level would go crazy for. It also helps that the Great Danes have a seven-foot center, Kirsten Zoellner, that allows him to step outside sometimes, where the 6-8 forward has hit 52 three-pointers." The rest of the column

Hoopville's try at AE post season awards
Dane Pound replied to Patch's topic in Winter Sports-Danes Hoops, Track
Maybe I'm reading too much into it but I'm wondering if having Adeleke on the center of the cover of the postseason guide isn't a hint about how the POY voting went. Maybe I'm wrong and the coaches haven't voted yet but I thought Herrion said he already did. In any event while it would be a terrific individual honor I'm with Olddog and Patch. Award or not this season has been a lot more fun than the past six with hopefully more to come. -
I haven't seen anything on quarterfinals being televised locally. The semis on Sunday are supposed to be on Time Warner.

LadyDP thinks it might be the shave that made him play better. Great to see him looking confident in his shot and agressive.

As much as I complained about Binghamton last year I'll be staying there again. We'll be at the Holiday Inn University also-perhaps we'll see you at the bar there. Plan was to walk across the parkway to the Events center but I suspect Bing fans might be aiming their cars at anyone in purple. Thinking about heading down on Saturday afternoon to try and catch as much Albany-Siena lax on the radio as possible. Anyone going to the pregame party sponosored by the Varsity Club?

Updated Tournament Information
Dane Pound replied to haggyland's topic in Winter Sports-Danes Hoops, Track
I agree that would probably be the best scenario. I also think if this team plays like they're on a mission like they did against VCU and Vermont it doesn't matter who they play. -
That's a good article. Brown is right, we did get lucky.
-
On the bright side if you know what your weakness is you should be able to fix it. I'm sure the coaching staff is well aware and will have a remedy before the tournament. Tough for Zo if his guy can shoot because he has to go out and guard him. Then his man can drive by him. Caterina did both of things a few times last night. One of these games when the other team is without a true center I'd like to see Zo have a big game offensively and punish them for it.
-
I'm no expert but I don't think it was the type of game for Covington. The bigs for UNH can both shoot from outside and that's a tough matchup for Jimmie as it was for Zoeller. In the four games I can recall this team has struggled with teams that have big guys that shoot from the outside.

Wildcats win 78-71 in Ot. Brown said after the game this is their worst matchup in the conference. Frightening to think this could be the second round opponent.

Certainly. I remember it well because I happy to hear it. America East fans get a break in 2007
