[MBB] Game #3: 11/17/17 - 7:00pm - vs Yale

Preseason MAAC #1 Iona - Down Preseason Patriot #2 BU - Down Preseason Ivy #2 Yale - Down At the beginning of the year I didn't think we'd get through this stretch undefeated. Not the best night for Nichols. Honestly, kind of glad we could win a game against a solid opponent when he's not playing his best. Click got his wish for Cremo although still probably too many turnovers if we're going to nitpick. Another 30 points combined from Stire+Charles. Same number they against against BU. I like that trend. -
Maybe. Oneonta might be shooting a lot of free throws after all your techs from yelling at the refs.
-
Ugh. Silly thing. I for one am really glad we have Oneonta on the schedule now.

Women also got an LOI from Julie Ford, a 6'2 forward from Cooperstown. Ford is also a starter on the football team. -

Yale took out their frustrations on South Carolina State tonight with a 30 point win. -

I guess I had a slightly different take on those comments. I thought he was talking about coming back from injury like that. It's a lot of rehab to come back from surgery. There are bound to be some issues after a long layoff - partly trusting the reconfigured knee and partly in the back of your mind, not wanting to go through that whole process again with another injury. I always though EIH coming back this year was a really ambitious goal and honestly credit him for trying.

30 points from Stire and Travis Charles on just 19 shots combined. I thought Foster might have played more had he not been in foul trouble but I'm not sure if you want to take out either Stire or Charles on a night like that. Did not expect to get this kind of production from the front court. -

Starting off the season @Creighton and @Wisconsin. They didn't make it easy for themselves. -

Nice minutes from Clark tonight. He looked more poised than the Iona game. Nice to bring another ballhandler and a ton of speed off the bench. Sorry that it cuts into Costa Anderson's PT. All five starters in double figures tonight. -

Travis Charles is looking more like Travis Charles tonight. -
I agree about our team but Vermont is representing the AE well right now. TBH is fun to watch when he's not playing us.
-
Vermont looking very much like the preseason #1 right now. This game probably would have been even more interesting had it been Kentucky's first game also.

Danes win! Holy Crap. I don't know how UML didn't score in the first OT. -
I was wondering that also. If he can play the 4 with his shooting he can create a lot of space for Nichols and Cremo. It looked like there were times late in the shot clock when the ball went back to Nichols and it seemed like Iona double-teamed him to get the ball out of his hands. I'm guessing he'll see more of that treatment as the season goes on.

BU lost at home tonight by 6 to cross-town rival Northeastern. Northeastern was picked 6th in the CAA preseason poll. -
I thought at times Travis Charles looked too eager tonight. Funny thing to say about a fifth-year senior but that's the way it seemed. Last year he did a nice job letting the game come to him and I'm sure he'll settle into the starting role. Front court starters tonight - 27 points and 20 rebounds between Stire and Charles. I'll take that any day. Stire was a man in the paint. I did not think we'd dominate on the boards the way we did. Clark is going to be a nice player but he looked a little lost out there. Not many great stats for Costa Anderson but I thought he did a nice job of settling us down and handling the ball when Iona tried to pressure. Conway gave a nice little offensive punch off the bench along with Foster. There are some fun front court combination possibilities with guys who bring different things to the table. Of course, Nichols and Cremo who have been so steady I almost take them for granted. I thought they might post Cremo a little more because Iona's guards were on the small side but there didn't seem like much of an opportunity for that. Nice way to kick off the season.

Game notes are up. Probably not a big surprise but the starters are Nichols, Cremo, Campbell, Charles and Stire. The bench will be a little more interesting. In the Gazette today there was s story about Clark - CB likes his defense and ability to get in the lane but not always with practice. We'll see who gets rewarded with playing time.
